Great experience

Guest: Kate (Germany)
Date of Stay: 04/23/12 Review Submitted: 04/28/12

This was our first experience with a vacation rental apartment, and overall I would say it was great. Paola was very easy to work with, especially by email which works best for me. She patiently answered all my questions ahead of time. We also took advantage of the car service to and from FCO airport, which was very helpful for two adults traveling with an infant and a car seat. I would say the pictures accurately reflect the apartment. One should keep in mind that this is Rome, and like many other European apartments, space is precious. However, the only place that things felt really tight was in the kitchen. Fitting two adults with a baby required some special maneuvering at times - it was almost funny. The highlights for me: 1. Location: we walked everywhere from this apartment: Trevi Fountain (you can literally see it from the entrance hallway of the building), Colosseum, Forum, Via del Corso, Piazza Navona and Vatican City. All were within 20-25 minutes walking (including navigating with a stroller). There is a great little market around the corner with everything you could need for a few days, and at least 3 different gelato places within a few steps from the front door. 2. The silence: The entrance to this apartment building is on a very busy little side street next to the Trevi Fountain. But you would have no idea of that from inside. It is literally that quiet. Another way to put it: no street noise ever woke the baby at night. 3. Paola: Made us feel very welcome, and even found us the crib for the baby at 9PM when the cleaning lady had failed to set it up earlier. Minor drawbacks: 1. I think the listing states that there is a microwave, but I didn't see one. It would be nice to have one though. 2. Small hot water tank. Definitely need to keep the showers quick and allow enough time for it to refill in between uses (about 20-30 minutes). Neither of these issues would prevent me from staying at this apartment again, or from recommending it to anyone I know.

Location, location, location! This lovely apartment was just what my husband and I needed to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Paola and Patrick were extremely timely in their email communication, and very helpful ahead of time, as well as during our stay. We walked EVERYWHERE, and I mean, everywhere! The apartment is in the heart of everything, and very conveniently located.

What a great place to stay in Rome. I had already been communicating with owners Paola and Patrick before arriving, and my questions were resolved before I even left for my holiday. I stayed for two weeks. The key benefits of this rental are the owners, a lovely and helpful couple, the apartment itself and its location (as well as the reasonable rental rate). In relation to the apartement, the photos accurately show how it looks, the cleaning service is timeley and efficient, the concierge was another helpfull person, and the heating /cooling service was effetcive. In relation to the location, you just can't go passed being 20 paces from Trevi Fountain. It's in the middle of everything you probably want to see. It took me 15 minutes to walk to the ancient Roman Forum. The bus sytem goes right through this area. You are living in an area, and in fact a building, where real Romans live, so you feel part of being Roman. There is a supermarket close by, which I found usefull combined with the kitchen facilities. I highly recomend this option for your stay in Rome.

Trevi Fountain 2-A Gem

Guest: AnnaMaria (San Diego, Californa USA)
Date of Stay: 02/04/12 Review Submitted: 02/12/12

This studio apartment was spacious, comfortable, convenient and well priced and initially met, then exceeded, our expectations. The listing description and reviews provided accurate information. After 2 weeks' hectic business travel in Europe, we were grateful for the excellent chauffeur service offered to and from the airport. Paola met us on schedule, was warm, gracious and informative. The location was astounding. Quiet, narrow side street just steps away from the Trevi Fountain where we would start and end every day. All the conveniences nearby. The apartment was clean, well supplied, with good storage. The kitchen is cozy, and adequate for simple meals, the bathroom good sized and well-appointed. The water heater forces frugality in the shower, but is a minor issue. The bed was very comfortable, the internet connection excellent, even for SKYPE phone calls, the couch comfortable with added pillows. We arrived at a 25-year major snow storm in Feb 2012, with very low temps outside, and stayed warm throughout. Location is close to all the must-see sites and an easy target for the taxi after we exhausted ourselves sightseeing. We recommend this rental and would not hesitate to rent it on our return to the Eternal City.

My wife, daughter and I had stayed for week at Tervi Fountain House--excellent apartment suitable for three persons. Its location right next to Tervi Fountain and walking distance from all sight seeing locations. The land lord Paula and her husband are gracious hosts and very helpful. I would recommend to all. Live like a local in the heart of Rome and immerse yourself in all the city has to offer!

The location of this apartment is one of the key reasons we chose it and it did not disappoint. We walked everywhere: the Vatican, Museums, the Colosseum, the Forum, Palentine Hill, Trastevere, Termini Train Station, Spanish Steps, Villa Borghese, Piazza Navonna, Did I mention you are only a short distance from all of the famous shopping? (or window shopping). If we wanted to go further, the metro was a short walk as well. Rome was very clean, we felt extremely safe and we loved walking all of the little streets to get where we wanted to go. Everywhere you turn and walk is a lovely piazza, outdoor cafe, oh and don't forget to stop into every church you come across... they are amazing and beautiful. Back to the apartment: there is plenty of room to unpack and put your things away. It was very servicable and has everything you need in the kitchen to make breakfast or cook dinner: pots, pans, plates, glasses, utensils, napkins, paper towels, dish cloth, dish soap. Paola even has extra umbrellas in case you forget yours. As others have mentioned this apartment is an oasis of quiet. We took the option of Wifi and the small expense was worth it. It was nice to be able to wash a few things midweek and they air dried very quickly. We had no issue with the hot water and we could each take a shower no problem. The grocery store just up the street has everything you may need and is very reasonable: bread, meats, cheeses, fresh pasta, wine, juices fresh veggies. There are other dining options nearby and Paola has a nice little list in the apartment if you are looking to eat out or grab a quick bite around the corner. We loved being near the Trevi Fountain. At night after a long day of touring we would take our wine (or a gelato) down to the fountain relax and people watch (you may even witness a marriage propsal or two). In the morning, we literally had the fountain to ourselves. Paola is very friendly and will not hesitate to help you with anything you need. She wants everyone to have a lovely time. We have rented apartments frequently so a few tips: we travel with small snack size bags of spices, zip loc bags, foil, a spare paper towel roll and toilet paper, washclothes, and small disposalbe plastic containers. Even after 8 fabulous days, we didn't get to see it all. Cannot wait to come back to Rome and would stay in one of Paola's apartments again. So what are you waiting for? We tossed a coin in the fountain and we will return!

We stayed in the Trevi Fountain apartment for 3 nights in mid-October. I agree with most of what everyone else on here says. Excellent location, with close walk to major sites. Wonderful grocery store around the corner that had most supplies and a great bakery, just a little further down the street. Paola met us at the apartment and was super nice. We were 4 people (2 adults & 2 boys-11 & 14 years old). It was a bit tight for all of us, but for the price & the location, we certainly didn't mind. It would be a perfect size for 2 adults. I would stay there again.

Date of Stay: 10/15/11 Review Submitted: 11/08/11

We stayed at this apartment in October for 3 nights and were very happy that we had chosen this place. First of all, Patrick and Paola are wonderful hosts. We did not meet Paola but emailed back and forth many times. She was always quick to respond and answered any questions that we had. Patrick met us to let us in and show us in. He was early which was great for us as we were anxious to get started on our tours of Rome. Although the apartment is small, it has everything one needs to make it home. It is close to many attractions and transportation is close by as well. A grocery store just a block away filled our needs for food and drink. We had a small problem with the television but a quick email to Paola and it was fixed the next day. It is possible to walk to many historic places but we would recommend a walking GPS as we did get lost. However, we hopped on a tourist bus, purchased a 48 hour pass and were able to visit all of the places we wanted to. We want to visit Rome again and we will definitely be contacting Paola to book our accommodations with her.

Great Location & Wonderful Owner

Date of Stay: 09/24/11 Review Submitted: 10/13/11

My husband and I spent four days in Rome and stayed in Paola's apartment. The location was fantastic, it truly is around the corner from the Trevi Fountain and very central to walk to all the other attractions. The apartment was clean and tidy and had everything you needed, the grocery store was very close by to pick up everything including wine & beer. Paola had created a little booklet which had all the details including places to eat, shop and info about the apartment, we carried this booklet around with us and referred to it when looking for a place to eat. Paola's restaurant suggestions were fantastic we ate in 3 restuarants that she suggested and they were all great our favorite was Sora Lucia, good local food & great prices. The pictures and website acurately reflect the apartment and the location. Paola also arranged transfers for us from the airport and to a rental car location which were a great help. We would definately stay here again and recommend it to our family & friends. We loved sitting at one of the trattroria's right near the Trevi fountain and watching the people come and go knowing that our home away from home was around the corner. A super location VERY close to Trevi Fountain so within walking distance to all parts of Ancient Rome. We only caught a taxi twice - both times to Vatican City (& then we walked back) - & all other sites (including the Colosseum) we walked to. Accurate photos however be prepared for the fact that European shower recesses are small. Cleanliness & maintenance fine. Paola & Patrick were extremely helpful & welcoming hosts who also arranged transfers for us. We would certainly recommend trevi Fountain House to others & in fact have already done so. Restaurants recommended in the literature in the apartment were very good.

My husband and I stayed in the apartment for four days at the end of August - the hottest week of the year! The apartment was an absolute haven, with great air conditioning and thick walls, which kept it quiet as well as cool. The location is just fabulous, you can walk to just about anything you'd want to see or do! The apartment is very comfortable for a couple, with all the expected amenities. Patrick made us welcome and was very helpful and charming. Unfortunately, the washing machine wasn't working during our stay, but this was the only fault I could find. When we return to Rome, we will stay here again.

You could not ask for a better location to stay in the ancient city. Literally up the block from Trevi Fountain - this was very helpful because the city has many signs leading you to major tourist locations such as Trevi fountain so it was nearly impossible to get lost. We were able to walk to almost every major attraction. There is a supermarket 2 blocks away which made it easy to save on meals and snacks. The building was quiet and secure. We stayed with our two children - the apartment was very tight for 4 but the location made up for it. Paola and her family were lovely.

Perfect for 2 people, for 5 nights. Having already been in Europe for 3 weeks, we took the bus (175) from the Rome Termini to the apartment. Paola’s parents (very nice people) met us and explained the apartment. The bedroom and bathroom are comparatively large. Great night sleep on king size platform bed. The Wi-Fi worked great. The building has 2 lifts, which greeted us for our daily nap. All shopping you need, including grocery and even hardware for broken luggage, are within 3 minutes. Kitchen has plenty of dishes / utensils and an under counter refrigerator w/freezer. Cooking is 2 burners, with no oven or microwave. No problem fixing daily breakfast (eggs / bacon), lunches (bread / cheese / meat), and a few easy dinners (salad, and pasta or pan warmed pizza). Most historic sites are within an easy 15-20 minute walk. Took the metro to the Vatican (instead of 35 minute walk, because we had booked a 3 hour tour. Go find your new favorite restorante, and gelateria. Ciao.

no better location in Rome

Guest: Barbra (Canada)
Date of Stay: 07/14/11 Review Submitted: 07/26/11

This is a wonderful location, convenient to all sites. It really is steps to the Trevi fountain. The building is very nice. This apartment would be great for 2 people or perhaps a couple with one child. For our family of 5 it was too small. Paola is is very honest about the size on the website so we were expecting it to be cozy . However, the convertible beds provided for the children were of poor quality. The couch needs replacing, it is sagging. The cot was okay for a small child . The 5th bed was no better than a backyard lawn chair - I felt terrible that my 8 year old slept there for 6 nights. The kitchen was functional but could use some upgrading. Paola's charming and helpful parents met us on arrival and helped us with a problem later in our stay. Unfortunately, we had no wi-fi during our stay as the full information was not provided to access (Paola's parents explained as best they knew but we did not have the code we needed). It would be very helpful to have an information package with all these important details in the apartment. We had a great time in Rome mainly due to the great location of this apartment. Do not hesitate to rent if you are a group of 2 or 3 people. Car service to airport was excellent and well-priced.

Owner response:Dear Barbra, thanks for having spent your time posting your review. I am very surprised about your comments on the convertible bed quality. Nobody before you have complained about it as unquestionably reported in the website's 5 stars rating reviews. The mattress of the couch had just been replaced. The cot slept a few 6 feet tall men before one of your children but none of them complained about its size. As you may know, the camp bed you called the "backyard lawn chair" has been recovered at the very last minute as the guests that left the apartment right before you've checked in broke the fifth pull out bed that is usually provided with the apartment. Anyway it was not so bad as you depicted it. I always personally take care of the guests check in and provide full explanation and instructions of the apartment's appliances use, WI FI access instruction included. Unfortunately at that time I had not been able to check you in as I was traveling but certainly reachable through e-mail. As the WI FI access instructions provided by my parents were not satisfactory, why you didn't request the instruction by the email you’ve sent from the internet café before? I could have responded immediately as I did when I have received it. Anyway I will certainly follow your recommendation and provide the apartment with a full information package with all the important details. I am glad that you had a great time in Rome. Thanks for having stayed at the Trevi Fountain House2.

The location is perfect, can get to most city centre sights within a 10-15 min. walk. Owner, Paola, very helpfull/friendly, she organised taxi transfers (not expensive for Rome), Restaurant recomendations good especially Sora Lucia (locals mainly, 5 mins walk away) and the Baker/ Deli. Appartment quiet, especially since Trevi outside some 50 meters away was always packed. Appartment small but adequate. A few minor things could help guests feel more welcome (this not intended as criticism but to help the owners) a couple of spare loo rolls, bigger bath towels, and the kettle leaked. All these are minor and I'm sure will be fixed. Overall a very good experience, we would stay again, Thanks Paola.

The location is perfect! you can walk everywhere, and if not, there are plenty of bus stops nearby and the metro is also a 7 m walk. There is a good supermarket nearby and many restaurants and icecream shops at your doorstep. Paola was very nice and helpful!!! the car service from and to the airport was punctual and very convenient priced. super location which made for easy access on foot to numerous roman attractions. our 10 day stay went by all too quickly! our visit coincided with Italys week of culture-it could have been "torture by culture" but our gracious landlady advised us on several delightful restaurants in the vicinity. She also advised that the stem of the artichoke is quite delicious and not to be cast aside! So we enjoyed many culinary delights from beneath the Quirinal to top of the Spanish steps! Apartment was quite spacious -although we are not large people.- large people might find the breakfast room slightly cramped! But who visiting Rome is going to dally over breakfast?

Excellent location, great bedroom, tiny kitchen

Guest: Cook M. (Melbourne, Australia)
Date of Stay: 03/10/11 Review Submitted: 04/22/11

The location of this apartment cannot be faulted. It is absolutely central to most of the "must see" things in Rome. The only place we did not walk to was the Vatican. The bedroom and bathroom are excellent and the bed is very comfortable. However, the kitchen is small and the facilities are limited. If you want this apartment as a base to see all in Rome and are prepared to eat out most of the time, then this is the ideal place for two people. Paola's recommendations for restaurants are very good. Make sure you follow her advice rather than eating out at the tourist rip-off places nearby.

Owner response:Dear Marion thanks for having stayed at the Trevi Fountain House and thanks for your nice review. I just wanted to clarify for the renters sake that the kitchen size is well proportioned to the overall apartment size which is, as clearly mentioned in the website 500 square feet. The kitchen size is actually as wide as it appears in the website. The table fits 4 people and there's space enough to prepare your meals if you do not want to eat out. Unfortunately the European spaces are pretty much smaller than the US or Australian sizes, I am sorry you have not been prepared to it before coming.

We absolutely loved our stay in Rome and the location of this apartment was amazing. The photos on the website accurately reflect the property, our family of four stayed here for four nights and while the sleeping arrangements were cozy (Paola arranged a fold up bed to be set up in the bedroom) we were more than comfortable. Having a separate kitchen where we could sit, eat breakfast or have a drink was fabulous. The location of this apartment is unbeatable, we walked to all the key sites, the Vatican, the Colleseum, the Forum, the Pantheon, the Spainish Steps, the Villa Borghese etc etc, and every night wandered out the front door to eat Gelatti by the Trevi Fountain and do some people watching. Paola was an incredibly warm and welcoming host, she promptly dealt with all our email enquiries, arranged a driver to and from the railway station, and met us on our arrival. We would love to visit Rome again and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Thank you!!

This was a return trip to Italy to celebrate our 25th anniversary. On our previous stay, we were at a very nice hotel but this time we thought we'd try an apartment as we were in Rome longer. Our correspondence with Paola was excellent, timely, and all accurate. Her apartment on the 1st floor was everything we expected from the pictures and comments on the internet. It was nicely equipped, clean and quiet & in a wonderful location....we loved opening the outside door to the street to the sights & sounds & smells of the area. Paola was very pleasant, speaks excellent English and arranged all of our transportation which was very dependable.

The apartment was perfect for the two of us for our 6 night stay. Paola had pillows on the day bed so it would be a comfortable place to sit but found we lacked the time to do so with all there was to see and do. By the time we got back from dinner at wonderful restaurants we selected with Paola's help, it was straight to bed. It was our first visit to Rome, and we walked to everything we saw, the furtherest being the Vatican. There is a tourist information center very close. We do recommend checking on the location of your dinner reservation in the daylight as we found it wery dfficult after dark. Many streets aren't on the tourist center map plus here is nothing straight about the streets. We are grateful for the help of shopkeepers and the police for without their help we would have never found several restaurants. We found the condo's location terrific for shopping too. One night had a wonderful dinner of Italian Roma tomatoes, bread, buffalo mozzarella and provolone cheeses and prosciutto which we purchased at the little shop/bakery just steps away from Trevi Fountain with wine we had purchased in Assisi. We wondered about not having the support of hotel staff, but it was not an issue at all because Paola handled such beautifully when we contacted her by email. We also found the taxi arrangement great. We used on our arrival in Rome from the US to get us to the Rome train station as went to Naples, a hiking tour in Amalfi, and Assisi first. I also wanted to mention that we found the bedroom area bigger than we expected and loved the high ceilings. I have already recommended this unit.

We left on the 4th day to travel to Cinque Terre and realized on the train ride there, that we had left our passports and a cell phone in one of the drawers. We were able to contact Paola and she helped get them sent to the post office in Vernazza to our attention. I have no idea what we would have done otherwise. It was very comforting to know that we trusted her to get them to us safely. You will love the Trevi Fountain house. Its cozy and perfect in every way!

Perfect Location

The Trevi Fountain Apartment was a great find. It was clean and spacious for 2 adults. The air conditioning was a blessing. In fact, it worked better then some of the hotel rooms we visited during our stay. We did not take advantage of the apartment's kitchen facilities other then the fridge for milk, juice, and a few other items. Restaurants abound! The apartment is in a perfect location - centrally located to most tourist attractions, restaurants, and shopping. Paola and Patrick were very helpful with suggestions regarding restaurants, groceries, etc. I would definitely recommend this location to friends and family!

We stayed here in July and what an amazing location,I walked everyday to get cappuccino pastries and so on.trevi fountain is so close like in the building. We walked everywhere, two supermarkets close, restaurants are close and shopping is amazing there. I would love to come back to this apartment as it was quiet and convenient . Paola the owner was great help as she arranged a driver to pick us up and drop us off at airport and printed material for us as we were interested to go outlet shopping. Thanks it was great

Roam around Rome

This apartment is clean, cool, quiet, and provided a relaxing respite from a day of touring around the magnificent Eternal City in mid July. It is centrally located near the Trevi Fountain and is peaceful despite being in such a vibrant part of Rome. It accommodated two adults and one teenager easily. The pictures on the site are accurate and it was wonderful to have access to the washing machine and the fully equipped kitchen. I can highly recommend this apartment to others. Thank you Paola!

Amazing Apartment steps from Trevi Fountain

Our family of 5 stayed in the apartment comfortably for 4 nights in July. It is literally half a block from the beautiful Trevi Fountain. The apartment is centrally located to everything and was extremely clean. The unit has a small kitchen, washing machine and air conditioning. Paola's parents met us at the apartment and were very helpful, telling us where to go for groceries and site seeing. You will want to have transportation (bus or taxi) if you are coming from the train station or airport. Thank you Paola, for helping us have a unforgettable trip!!

Perfect Rome Rental

Guest: katie (Boston, MA)
Date of Stay: 07/08/10 Review Submitted: 07/23/10

My fiancé, friend and I rented this apartment from July 8-15, and it worked out perfectly. Never having used this, or any vacation rental site before, I worried that it was too good to be true given the price and location, but it was as great in reality as it sounded in the listing. The location was ideal, only a 10 minute walk to the train station. While it doesn't overlook anything glamorous, it's so close to the hustle and bustle of the Fountain of Trevi (which is easily the busiest attraction at any given hour of day), that the peace and quiet is beyond welcome. The air conditioning was fantastic, as it was very hot the week we were there. I would definitely rent this property again and will definitely contact Paola for any future vacations to Rome. She was very friendly and responsive and she made arranging our trip so much easier.

My stay at the Trevi Fountain appmt July 3-7 2010

Guest: Enzo (New Jersey, USA)
Date of Stay: 07/03/10 Review Submitted: 07/16/10

The listing photos led me to conclude the appmt was larger then it was. I thought the sofa was in a seperate room, it was not. It was in the one bedroom. The general appearence of the appmt was not of one newly renovated. Although it was clean and acceptable. There was no view from any of the windows only other buildings. There were loud bird (parrot/minor bird) noises in the AM. There was off street parking but for a fee of 35 Euro a night. Although advertized, there was no internet access available.

Owner response:Dear Vincenzo thanks for giving me the opportunity to provide some additional information to the guests: Your imagination definitely exceeded the real size of the apartment. As clearly advertised in the website it actually is 50 Square meters ; Once again you thought that the sofa was in a separate room. Actually, as clearly mentioned in the listing description, the sofa bed is in the 35 square meter bedroom; The apartment has been renovated on October 2009; The building was built in XVI century and at that time it was a convent. All the apartment windows face the cloister where the nuns were used to pray. This is definitely one on the strength of this property as it is then absolutely quiet and peaceful. If it had faced the outside streets you would have at home the huge crowds of people that every day pass by the Trevi Fountain until late at night. The loud bird (parrot/minor bird) noises you may have heard are actually the song of a few seagulls that sometime may come from the river Tiber. As I have referred when you inquired and always refer to my guests, there is off street parking for free in the allowed spaces. For those who wish instead using the covered parking next door the fee is 35 Euro per night. This fee is in line with the worldwide downtown parking and definitely lower than a parking at Times Square in Manhattan…. At present internet access has never been advertised.

Hi Paola, Thanks for having us and being such a gracious host! Your apartment was wonderful - we enjoyed our stay greatly. Literally steps to the fountain and yet so quiet and hidden away - we can certainly recommend your apartment to any and all looking for great accomodation in the ancient area. Paola has great local restaurant recommendations too. Brendan and Kris

In the center of Rome

My husband and I spent two weeks in the perfectly located apartment near the Trevi Fountain. In spite of its location in a hub of Rome, the apartment was extremely quiet. It is close to shopping if you wish to cook in, close to the information bureau, close to good bus connections. We enjoyed our stay here and appreciated the services that were provided: pick up and return to the airport, concierge.

"Amavamo il Palazzo di Paola."

Clearly, one does not vacation in Rome to hang out in an hotel room or apartment for any great length of time, but it is nice to come home to a secure, simple, clean, convenient place after a long day of touring. Paola's place totally fits the bill. We were able to rest on comfortable beds (including an adult-sized cot!), make use of the washing machine, and prepare simple meals in the well-appointed kitchen. We got helpful and timely responses when we needed things, and were provided with recommendations on local dining, as well as invaluable assistance in arranging a day trip to Pompeii. While being so close to the Fontana di Trevi might be of concern for some people due to the crowd scene just steps away, we enjoyed being near such a beloved landmark...and the Osteria restaurant, and the gelaterias, and the local market, and the shopping arcade (and ATM), and...you get the idea. Bottom line: we'd stay in the Palazzo Paola again in a heartbeat!

Location, location, location

The title says itall! The best thing about this apartment is its location. The apartment was clean, but it is a studio apartment, so there is no separate living area, and it is somewhat small, so there is no room for a comfortable chair. The kitchen was compact but complete. Paola was away on business, so we did not have the chance to meet her personally, but her parents introduced us to the apartment. If we visit Roma again, we would definitely consider this apartment.

My husband and I along with our little boy stayed in the apartment in February 2010. The flat was perfect for our needs and is exactly as pictured on the website. It is spotlessly clean and was very quite despite being so close to a major attraction and streets with busy restaurants. We were provided with fresh clean towels and the kitchen was equiped for our catering needs. Paola had even arranged a cot for out little boy. The apartment is central to everything. It really is only 20 steps from the Trevi fountain and the spanish steps, piazza navona, colosseumn etc are in walking distance. Paola was very helpful and even arranged a taxi to collect us and drop us to the airport. She even advised us of the best resteraunts in the area. The building is clean and has a concierge in attendance during the day. We would not hesitate to recommend the Trevi Fountain flat and we definitely plan to return ourselves.
