Lovely Accommodations

We had the pleasant experience of staying at the Patio de Seville at the end of June. It is a wonderful set of two quite separate apartments, each with living room, kitchenette and dining space. Perfect for two couples, as we were. The two spaces shared a rooftop pool, which was an excellent feature after a day of sightseeing in the hot weather of June. All was nicely decorated and clean. The location is on a quiet street in the Santa Cruz barrio, very convenient to the Cathedral and other landmarks in that area. Gary, the manager, was welcoming and very helpful in describing aspects of the apartments as well as the surrounding neighborhood. He went out of his way to help us find a taxi in the early morning hours on the day of our departure. The description in the listing is quite accurate. I would heartily recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting Seville.

Patio de Sevilla...sigh!

We arrived to Seville in the pouring rain to the welcoming arms of Maribel and Gary. We walked in to the most beautiful building. I can't say enough of the hospitality of Maribel and Gary. They showed us how everything worked and gave us great recommendations for eating and shopping-Las Columnas was delicious and so much fun! They told us to call them at any time if we had any questions. That alone is great and comforting to know that we had someone in town. While the rain started to wane, we explored the building. The courtyard is beautiful and each floor has its own distinctive beauty. I felt that I had entered a Moorish King's room! From the tile floors to all the decorations. The high celings were amazing! The apartment is spectacular. We knew, at that moment, we were in Southern Spain!! The real treasure is on the very top. A POOL?! My 3 year old son, despite the rain and cool temperature was aching to jump in. I was also a little tempted! The view from the patio was amazing. At night, with the illuminated cathedral, spectacular! The location is within steps of the cathedral and Giralda. Also, there are grocery stores within walking distance and tons of shopping. I want to add my two cents about the lighting issue and steps that was mentioned in a previous review. Since I grew up in the Southern California desert where summer temps exceed 110 F, I feel I can comment on the percevied lack of light. When it is really hot outside, you want to keep that out as much as possible. It is all about shade!! Inside the light is soft and subtle, which offers a nice respite from the hot outside. There are many stairs, but that is very common for Europe. The cities are centuries old and sometimes we have to take things a little slower! Our visit ended only a couple of days ago. I wish we could have stayed so much longer! Seville is an amazing city. It is best to just wander the streets, without a map. You will never get lost with the cathedral bells as your beacon.

Mirabel and Gary are the Best!

We had a few problems in Seville finding this property, with a ATM and getting out of Seville and Mirabel and Gary were there to cheerfully help. We really appreciated their support and advice. The location is wonderful but I think we did not really appreciate that there were so many stairs to navigate, I think the website should make this clearer. Also after seeing the website pictures we were surprised by the lack of good lighting in any of the rooms, must have used photographers lighting to take the pics. The mattress in Apartment A needs to be replaced as a 3" mattress on a piece of MDF is not really worth the price we paid. Once again thanks Mirabel and Gary for all your help.

Please rest assured that we have taken measures to address the issues of the mattress you have reported and we will edit our listing to further detail that indeed Patio de Sevilla is a three floor building with three flights of stairs to get from the ground floor to the rooftop terrace where you find the pool and the beautiful views of the Cathedral and “La Giralda”. The photographs were taken in March 2009 and that day, as is almost always the case in Seville, we had a blue sky and natural bright sunshine in all rooms. The light may vary depending on the time of the year and the weather, but fortunately, Seville boasts more than 300 days of sun a year. We stayed at Patio de Sevilla at the beginning of September 2009 with some friends (we were 4 in total). The situation of this house is indeed unbeatable as it is right next door to the cathedral. Its rooftop terrace with a private pool is a luxury in Seville and a must as it was unusually hot in Sevilla for this time of the year! We would highly recommend this property, especially for two couples as the house has two separate apartments hence ensuring your privacy though I believe it must be nice to go as a couple too and have the house to yourself!
