Experience beautiful Grayton Beach without the crowds by taking advantage of our Winter Special! Stay in the Historic Smith House for only $150/night! (Christmas & New Years excluded)
Enjoy a rare opportunity to stay in one of the most historic homes in Grayton Beach -- The Smith House. Originally built as a 1-room cottage in 1925 by Tuff Smith, he used salvaged cypress that washed up on the shores of Grayton after the ship that was transporting the lumber caught fire and sank.
In March of 2009, the Smith House was purchased by members of a long-time Grayton family who have lovingly renovated the home, adding all the modern conveniences while maintaining its true southern “old Grayton” charm. Featuring vaulted ceilings and exposed beams, the house is decorated in vintage Florida style. Interior walls are fashioned from sinker cypress (giant cypress logs salvaged from the bottom of the Choctawhatchee River), the grain of each board a work of natural art. The kitchen, which includes granite counters, an ultra-quiet dishwasher, a new oven, a new refrigerator, and everything you would need to cook a gourmet meal, is top of the line. The bathroom has been overhauled with a double vanity sink, and a new double-bunk room has been added. The house has flat-screened TVs (with DVD players) in the bedrooms and living room, as well as wireless internet service, and an iPod player.
The best part of the house is probably the large screened porch, which includes 2 comfortable sitting areas, a rustic cypress dining table that easily seats 8, and a comfortable day bed for relaxing. The spacious outdoor shower, with hot and cold water, is just off the screened porch.
After spending the day on the beach, you may want to use the 2 complimentary beach bikes to explore the adjoining beach towns in the late afternoon. In the evening, you have an easy walk to the world-famous Red Bar restaurant as well as several other outstanding dining opportunities.
The Smith House is the perfect vacation retreat for your family. You will want to come back year after year!

Owner's Map of Grayton Beach
As a 6th generation Walton County native, I spent every summer of my childhood on the sands of Grayton Beach. My husband & I are lucky to have raised our 2 sons here as well. We love the charm and authenticity of Old Grayton, the fabulous beach and lake, the friendly locals, and the quirky nature of our town. We are honored to own the Smith House and hope you will love it as we do.

Well, I finally figured out the reason it took me so long to spend a few days in Grayton Beach – it was meant for me to wait for the Smith House to get renewed and “all dolled up.” This little beach cottage is absolutely adorable. We had a real sweet time and I’m taking home some cute photos, but even more mental snapshots of a beautiful trip in a lovely home. Thanks for sharing it with my family….
