Great rental house for XC and downhill skiing, snowboarding, and tubing in the winter. Summertime offers chairlift rides, hiking, bird-watching, mountain biking, golf, horseback riding, motorcycle touring, rafting, canoeing and tubing trips on the Cheat River, and more. The house is located in the historic mountain town of Thomas, WV. We now have wireless internet access.
The Brown St Townhouse has three bedrooms and one huge, full bath with and old-fashioned claw tub/shower. Upstairs, there are three carpeted rooms with top-quality beds and antique furniture. One room has a king-size bed, a second large room has a queen-size bed and in the third, smaller bedroom there's a double bed. Downstairs living room has two comfy couches that could be used for kids but you'll need to bring your own bedding and pillows for them. The atmosphere is a tasteful mix of antique and modern, clean and uncluttered. Linens and towels are provided.
The townhouse has a modern kitchen and all the pans and utensils that you may require. A formal dining-room and leafed table make for great dinner parties. The carpeted living room has beautiful Italian leather couches and full media center and large Sony TV, a comfortable area for all to relax. The house is immaculate and very comfortable.
I've had great feedback from our guests and enjoy opening my very comfortable vacation home to others when we are not using it. I am able to be a little bit more choosy about my renters because of the great reputation the house has. I prefer renters that enjoy and respect the quiet neighborhood in which our house is located. I do not condone the use of our house for parties and raucous gatherings. We also prefer that our guests have no more than three cars parked in the road in front. Year Purchased: 1985
I moved from Boulder, CO to Davis in 1983 to run a cross country ski center at Blackwater Falls State Park and promptly fell in love with West Virginia. I followed my passion for mountain biking and managed to earn a living in the mountains of West Virginia by becoming a mountain bike race promoter and have been doing this professionally for 18 years. I bought this turn-of-the-century townhouse in 1985 and lived here for 23 years until I met my wife Barbara and moved to Morgantown. We have been using our Brown St. Townhouse for summer mountain bike weekends and winter ski trips with our kids or for overnights when there's a great band playing at the Purple Fiddle. Now, with VRBO, we can share our beautiful house with other folks and families for their enjoyment!
Why the Owner Chose Davis
Thomas is a historic mountain town in the heart of the mountain of the Allegheny plateau. The area is a treasure-trove of outdoor activities. In the summer there's mountain biking, hiking, bird-watching, whitewater rafting, canoeing, hunting, and fishing. In the winter, there's alpine skiing at nearby Canaan Valley State Park ski area and Timberline Resort (15 minutes) and cross-country skiing at WhiteGrass Ski Touring Center and Blackwater Falls State Park. Thomas also has a famous music venue at the Purple Fiddle, (a favorite spot for my wife and I, its where we met!) where some of the best in old-time, bluegrass, new grass, blues, and R&B bands can be seen.

We also love sharing all the area has to offer as well. We give lots of advice to our guests about local activities. At the house we have wireless access for your own computer.
