  I love the sound of the ocean, especially at night and being right on the water is my idea of a great time. The house was small but met all our needs and was dog friendly. I loved how the four bedrooms were two on each side with full baths between them. This gave everyone sound buffers from all the snoring, one of our biggest complaints when traveling in a fairly large group. We ordered and got some of the best weather and un-crowded beach conditions that anyone could want. Because we had lived close to this area several years ago and still have family nearby we knew where to go to find some of the best fish available. We ate most meals in and had the convenience of all items needed to prepare all our meals.

  We visited with our 3 small children. We all had fun and it was so easy to go back and forth from the beach to the house when the little ones got tired. We would definitely recommend this property to friends.

  This cottage was so perfect for our family vacation. Our 4 legged children loved hanging out on the the fenced in deck. The house is pet friendly, both of our dogs are 6 months and younger. It was so clean, they couldn't find a thing to put in their mouths. We had easy access to the beach for morning and evening walks, perfect location. The cottage was cozy, comfortable and relaxing. We slept so well on the bed there. The kitchen is well stocked. We enjoyed the cottage so much that we only ventured out one night for dinner, we chose to eat in the rest of the time. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great but we never got cabin fever. We will definitely be back next year!

  Booked Windrift for a last minute week-long getaway in April. Weather was perfect, 75-80 every day. Went with my wife and dog and had a fantastic time. The location is second to none, steps from the ocean. Falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves was very relaxing. Appliances are clean and in good condition and the owner's have the kitchen well stocked with flatware/dishes if you need. There is everything you need; comfortable beds, clean linens and couches, tv, fast wi-fi, hot water. While we didn't use it there is also a gas grill on the deck if you want. The back deck is huge with a large picnic table/benches and several rockers. The boardwalk path from the back deck down to the beach is great for suntanning too, if you don't feel like going to the beach every time you want to lay out. Beana's for breakfast, BSL doughnuts was pretty good too. Island Way was good, a little fancier than most of the places we ate. Shagger Jack's was very good and excellent service, come to think of it the service was fantastic everywhere we ate. Can't say the same for most restaurants in DC where we're from. Southport has lots of good restaurants too. Provision was very good in Southport. We will definitely return for another stay as soon as possible. The owner, Kathleen is very nice and prompt and responsive via email.

  My family came over from the UK and we had a lovely stay at this cottage. It is very well stocked, very comfortable and the owners have clearly made an effort to make the house as welcoming as possible; the walls were newly painted and fresh and they bought a high chair for the baby. The house itself is right on the beach, the perfect spot to enjoy a gin while the sun sets or exercise the dog! Many thanks for a memorable stay...I'd recommend it to anyone, particularly families with little ones.

  We just got back from a weekend at this property and it was a fantastic place. The house is so charming and comfortable and the sounds and views of the ocean filled the house from every room. We were lulled to sleep at night by the waves gently crashing against the shore and awaken each morning by the sunlight softly filling the house with light, it was a wonderful recharge for the soul. We took many walks on the beach taking in all the sights and sounds of this amazing area. The kids particularly liked searching for the perfect seashell and watching for dolphins. This property is perfect for families or romantic getaways. Kathleen was a pleasure to deal with and went above and beyond to help us out on our last minute trip.

  We enjoyed our stay at Windrift very much. You just can't get any closer to the beautiful beach! Sunrise and sunset from the deck. The kitchen was very well stocked- we had everything we needed. The house is a perfect layout, and provided lots of room for our young family of 5 to spread out. The beds and furniture were all comfortable and we slept great. The gate on the deck was a bonus to keep the kids from wandering too far! We will definitely be back!

  I would recommend this ocean front cottage to anyone looking! Dont hesitate to book this home. I stayed for a week with my elderly mother, my 3 year old son, and my hard to please husband and everyone loved the rental. It worked wonderful for each of us. The house is laid out perfect with (2 ) bedrooms on each side of the house with open living area to kitchen allowing good flow and lots of sunshine and views out the front and back of the house. The covered porch area is stocked well with a picnic table and rocking chairs for plenty of seating for everyone to enjoy the views and beach. The best part of this rental is the proximity to the beach which starts pretty much at the base of the steps. There wasn't a high dune separating the house from the beach so my elderly mother was able to sit on the covered porch and see the rest of the family playing on the beach which was important to me. If you have children or plan to use the beach a lot this home is perfect because of where it is situated. Outdoor shower and gate off the covered porch were a plus. Gorgeous sunsets everynight. Comfortable and cute decorated house. Cant say enough about it. No complaints at all. The owners were very helpful and responsive when booking and great to work with. Even checked in with me while we were staying to ensure we were happy with everyone. I will definitely book this home again when I get a chance.

  Hello world, I am a Rottweiler Therapy dog and show dog and I declare that WINDRIFT is "the Cat's Meow". Got to escape here for looong wonderful peaceful walks on beach and listening to the ocean roar. My Mom was sooo pleased with absolute EVERYTHING "in and around" the cottage, it could not have been any better! Also the owners were delightful to negotiate with! We hope to return next winter and our first choice is defenitely WINDRIFT! Also all fotos of the place are very accurate, and all reviews are tustworthy. THANK YOU , Windrift-Owners, for sharing a cozy, sweet cabin with us.

  This was our first time vacationing in Oak Island, NC. Once we were on the island, I was a little skeptical about the condition of the houses as I only had SC beaches to compare to. The house was clean, comfortable and the best part was it only took a few steps to get to the beach. We look forward to staying here again!

Our preference is to always rent for a full week, however we will be flexible with our minimum night requirements if we are not booked and you are calling in close proximity to the date requested. If you have a question it is always best to call us at 336-254-8502.

Cancellation policy:

Windrift 515 West Beach Drive Oak Island, NC 28465 ?1. CHECK-IN TIME IS AFTER 3 P.M. EST AND CHECK-OUT IS 10 A.M. EST. ?NO Early Check-in or late check-out. ?2. This is a NON SMOKING unit. ?3. Pets are not permitted in home unless I have been notified and pet fee is received. ?4. DAMAGE/RESERVATION DEPOSIT- A damage/reservation deposit of $200 is required. This must be received within seven (7) days of booking the reservation. The deposit automatically converts to a security/damage deposit upon arrival. The deposit is NOT applied toward rent; however, it is fully refundable within (14) days of departure, provided the following provisions are met. ?a. No damage is done to unit or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear. ?b. No charges are incurred due to contraband, pets or collection of rents or services rendered during the stay. ?c. All debris, rubbish and discards are placed in trash cans, and soiled dishes are placed in the dishwasher and cleaned. We also provide recycling so be sure only recyclable materials are placed in blue receptacle marked recycling.?d. Put keys back in lockbox and be sure the home is left locked. ?e. No linens are lost or damaged. ?f. The renter is not evicted by the owner (or representative of the owner), the local law enforcement, or the security company employed to watch over Windrift. ?5. PAYMENT – An advance payment equal to 50% of the rental rate is required upon reservation. The advance payment will be applied toward the room rent. Please make payments in the form of traveler's checks, bank money orders, cashiers checks or personal checks payable to Kathleen Murray. The advance payment is not a damage deposit. The BALANCE OF RENT is due fourteen (14) days before your arrival date. ?6. CANCELLATIONS: A sixty (60) day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations that are made more than sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date are subject to a 5% Cancellation fee or $50 whichever is greater. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay, or that are made within 60 days of the arrival date, forfeit the full advance payment and damage/reservation deposit. Cancellation or early departure does not warrant any refund of rent or deposit. ?7. MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY- The max number of guests is limited to ten (10) persons. ?8. Longer minimum stays may be required during holiday periods. ?9. RATE CHANGES – Rates subject to change without notice. ?10. FALSIFIED RESERVATIONS – Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitted to check-in. ?11.
