This charming and nostalgic Cottage is really two homes in one: StoryBook Cottage downstairs and Lainey's Loft upstairs with separate outside private entrance. You have the option of renting either StoryBook Cottage alone (2 bedrooms, 1 bath - sleeps 4), Lainey's Loft alone (1 bedroom, 1 bath: sleeps 2-4), or a combined 3 bedrooms, 2 baths (both the Cottage and the Loft - sleeps 8).
Both StoryBook Cottage and Lainey's Loft are a wonderfully unique seaside retreat furnished with antiques and collectibles from a bygone era. They have been lovingly restored by their present owners in a shabby chic coastal style with hardwood floors, leaded glass transom, exposed beams, beadboard walls, glass front cabinets, clawfoot tub, ceiling fans everywhere, and faux painting, but also with today's modern conveniences.
StoryBook Cottage is the original 1940's home with a seaside elegance all its own. It features 2 lovely bedrooms with hardwood floors, a full bath with aged wood doors and tub accents, a fully equipped kitchen with exposed beams and a breakfast bar, a living and dining room with hardwood floors and beachy antique chandelier, utility room, and a fabulous 10' x 40' screened porch filled with an antique wicker couch and rockers, 2 ceiling fans, a porch swing, and antique dining table and chairs -- perfect for a sunset margarita! Vintage charm radiates everywhere, and there are treasures to see in every nook and cranny throughout the Cottage.
Lainey's Loft was added several years ago and is located above the Cottage in the back with its own private outside staircase reminiscent of a Fredericksburg Sunday Haus. The entire Loft has beadboard walls and beadboard ceilings and salvaged and restored hardwood floors throughout. Antiques accent both the bedroom and bath. A queen-sized bed and a daybed with a trundle compose the peaceful serenity of the quaint bedroom. Pull the vintage curtains aside to a clothing closet or a second closet set up with a small refrigerator and microwave. Then step past the salvaged antique wooden door to the bath/spa retreat where you will love the nostalgic romance of the antique claw foot tub. The spacious and very unique bath is filled with other antiques including a cobbler’s bench, rocking chair, salvaged window from an old San Antonio schoolhouse, and a small table set up as a coffee bar. The subdued sconce lighting adds even more atmosphere.
A fully enclosed private outdoor shower, WiFi, and TV's in both the Cottage and the Loft are also available for your use as is a BBQ grill.

After many repeated visits to Port Aransas many years ago and being in the real estate business, we decided to purchase our "home away from home". We lovingly restored our 1940 beach house project for 3 years, then were dismayed on our first return visit after the restoration to find the roof had leaked from a terrific storm and caused a lot of damage. So we started over, got a new roof, and added Lainey's Loft to our 1 story cottage. A "blessing in disguise" was born!

We spent 3 days at this lovely place, and it was a wonderful experience. The neighborhood is safe and quiet, close to everything. 2-3 minutes away from the beach. The rooms are very cozy and clean, the kitchen is fully functional. We love the back yard. Will definitely recommend and we will be back! Thanks for sharing your wonderful vacation house, Laineys!

We stayed in the loft for a weekend getaway - it was perfect. A very short walk to nearly everything and a short drive to anywhere else. The loft is super cute, clean and comfortable. The outdoor shower is great. Ron and Lainey were very nice and we look forward to coming back. I was originally looking for a place on the beach - but this was much better. Less sand, less wind and right in the middle of everything, yet quiet and serene.

Love, love, love staying at Storybook Cottage. The location is great, you are there within minutes of getting off the ferry. Great place for cheap but good breakfast is around the corner at San Juan's. The bird sanctuary is a short bike ride away, a must see and great place to just soak in nature. Just hanging out at the house is so relaxing. I loved just sitting on the front porch reading and feeling the sea breeze while my kids were off fishing. Back porch is a great place for a family meal at the end of the day. The house would also be perfect for a romantic get away.

We had a wonderful time staying here. It's beautifully decorated with all the comforts and amenities of home. The outdoor shower was perfect for coming back after a fun day at the beach. The screened in porch was the perfect spot for breakfast with the table and sitting area. We plan to go and stay there again and would recommend this house to friends. The price is unbelievable for what you get!

We've been going to Port A for a long time and have stayed at Storybook Cottage for the past few years. There is no place we'd rather stay! We've been there during a rainstorm, and felt safe and comfortable sitting on the front porch watching the rain and playing board games. It was a bonding time for the whole family. Plenty of room, and having a full kitchen was perfect for mealtime. We missed seeing the beach on one day of our trip, but the memories and laughter while being cooped up have stayed with us. Perfect location - easy to find, less than 5 minutes to shopping, restaurants, fishing pier and the beach. We can't wait for summer again to head back!

Lainey's Loft is an absolute jewel - I can't believe we found it last minute on homeaway.com. It was perfect and truly brings an element of class to the island. The pics do not do it justice. All four of us stayed in the loft which I thought might be too small but turned out fine, espcially having the private shower downstairs and the bathtub option in the bathroom. The point is to get out and enjoy the beach and the island spots, so we weren't in the room too much anyway. All of the girls were thrilled and want to come back for private get-a-ways with their boyfriends. I'd also love to take my mom. The private shower is so relaxing! The bathroom is REALLY hot - they have a fan going in there, but I would recommend bringing another one with you or moving one from the bedroom into the bathroom while you are in there. This will certainly not be my last time to Lainey's Loft! The owners have done a WONDERFUL job!

After spending two nights at Storybook Cottage, we do not want to stay anywhere else. That the owners would share such a special place with the rest of the world makes me incredibly grateful. This cottage has the charm and personality of a beautiful bed and breakfast and made our trip to Port Aransas better than ever. After playing the day away at the beach, it was wonderful to come to home to such a lovely, cozy place. The screened in front porch was my favorite feature. It is absolutely beautiful. I had a hard time tearing myself away from it each morning. I loved sitting out there with my coffee and the cool morning breeze. Storybook cottage is far more than "just a place to stay". It is a blessing. We will treasure the memories that we made there and hope to return again and again.
