Calypso was wonderful for our family of 5, great location overlooking chocolate hole and proximity to Cruz Bay make this an excellent choice for travelers looking to explore St John as well as go into town. The owners were beyond helpful with any questions I had before and during our stay. Highly recommend!

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family - 4 adults and 2 teens - had a fantastic time at Calypso del Sol. The place is beautiful, so well maintained and we enjoyed the perfect layout with three nice spacious and completely private bedrooms plus the gorgeous view plus the large hottub after too much snorkling. We watched iguanas and sunsets from the beautiful porch and only regretted that our stay could not be longer ... this was our first time on St. John and we loved its many great beaches and good restaurants as well as the totally relaxed atmosphere all around. Access to everything was easy from Calypso and I hope we can find a way to get back there rather sooner than later!

We just checked out of Calypso Del Sol yesterday, and I just wanted to say thank you, we had a wonderful time! Everything worked out perfect, the place was exactly what we wanted, and the views were amazing! I’m sure we will be coming back to St. John in the future, and when we do, I will definitely be interested in renting the property again. Thanks Again!

We had a wonderful stay at Calypso Del Sol. The island of St. John is beautiful and the villa was close to all the things we wanted to see. The house was well maintained, and it had all the amenities that we needed. We especially enjoyed the pool and the covered porch. It was the perfect place for relaxing and enjoying nature. The beaches on St. John are the best we have ever seen, and the people on the island were friendly and very helpful. It was the perfect vacation, and I would recommend Calypso Del Sol to anyone planning a visit.

It was a fabulous trip and your villa, restaurants and sightseeing all exceeded our expectations! We loved our time at Calypso del Sol. It is a beautiful home with gorgeous views and the girls LOVED the pool! It was the highlight of their trip. We enjoyed taking pictures from the beautiful overlooks along the North Shore. The sunsets from your porch were also stunning. Your advice and guidance was key to having a very enjoyable trip! We will highly recommend Calypso and St John to our friends!

We stayed at Calypso del Sol with 2 grandparents, 2 parents, and 2 kids and it was a perfect villa for all. Kids loved the pool; grandparents loved the breezes and views; bug-sensitive wife loved the screened porch, and I (driver) loved the easy access to Cruz Bay and North Shore. The villa is just as lovely in reality as it appears in these photos and it's unusual in having a nice pool, a screened porch, a relatively flat entry, and comfortable amenities all around. Owners are extremely helpful and responsive. All the systems worked well and the kitchen was very nice (also somewhat unusual in our experience). A great choice for families or small groups!

Owner response: One of the nicest things for us as villa owners is "meeting" great folks such as those who just stayed at Calypso. And when people have a great time, such as these guests did, it makes us even more eager to share our wonderful villa with others!

Our family just recently returned from our vacation to St. John, where we spent 9 nights at Calypso del Sol. The vacation was fantastic, and we attribute that largely to our wonderful stay at Calypso del Sol. From the beginning we received a lot of help and information from Sally (one of the owners). She played an intricate part in helping us to plan our vacation, even after we had booked her place. Once on the island, their contact Nancy was easy to reach, pleasant to talk to, and a big help.

Nothing gets better than this - the perfect house for our honeymoon. I am just sorry I did not write this review earlier - however it was a great location close to the downtown area but private enough to enjoy time alone! Sally was a pleasure to work with in securing our honeymoon reservation. Thanks for a great memory - we hope to be back soon!

I'm not sure that I can find the proper words to describe how much we enjoyed our visit to St. John and how happy we were that chose to stay at your villa. The villa exceeded our expectations as far as appointments, utensils, etc. I'm not sure we could have asked for much more. The added space, the absolute privacy and convenience to town made for a very comfortable week. We have referred to our week as our "vacation of a lifetime!" (At least up to this point, although it will be hard to beat it) We had a perfect week of weather- mid to upper 80's and full of sunshine... We used several of your suggestions for eating out- Sun Dog Cafe, Skinny Legs, and Morgan's Mango. All of our food was good, however our most favorite was grilling fresh fish out on the porch of the house. I never would have thought it, but we only ate dinner out twice... Truly some of the best and relaxing meals we've ever had! We never missed a "happy hour" on the porch enjoying music, a cool drink, and soaking up the afternoon sunshine and views as the sun set over Chocolate Hole. We had considered another villa literally directly across the bay from Calypso but truly made the right choice. The views are amazing! We spent plenty of time lazing around in the pool and hot tub each day also. In fact, our entire week consisted of lazing around somewhere, whether it was the beach, snorkeling, or enjoying a Painkiller at one of the local establishments.... We were able to hit most of the beaches, but also suggest to future guests that they rent a dinghy for a day. We rented for a day and were able to explore the island/ocean from the "outside in" instead of from the "shore out."...The dinghy provided a bit of adventure and freedom as well as a little privacy. Bottom line is that we are so pleased that we were able to revisit St. John for our 20th anniversary and to have stayed at your villa. I'm not sure how it could have been much better. We would absolutely look to stay at Calypso upon our next visit, and would recommend it to anyone. In fact, feel free to give out our name and email etc. as a reference if anyone should ask. Thank you again, you have a beautiful villa and location on a slice of paradise!

My husband and I travelled to STJ for our honeymoon this summer and it was undoubtedly the best vacation of my life!...I cannot recommend this villa highly enough. The home...is just gorgeous. The pictures on the web site don't do it justice. The layout would be really perfect for groups. Since it was just the two of us, we occupied the upper level of house the entire week.... I kept getting the feeling of being in a home that has been cared for..! Writing this has made me want to go back!

I wanted to tell you how much we truly enjoyed our time at Calyspo. It really couldn't have gone more perfectly; it was everything we hoped for! The house is amazing! I absolutely loved the decor and all the details and love that have gone into that place. So, job well done! I spent every morning on the porch overlooking the bay, reading, writing and relaxing. Definitely a needed change of pace from NYC! The pool and spa were both so enjoyable, too. There were plenty of clean towels, sheets, the kitchen was so well-stocked... everything we needed was provided! The weather was pretty amazing: we really lucked out. We'd get some brief showers here and there, but nothing that lasted more than 30 minutes or so. The day we left, it did rain quite a bit and we got pretty wet waiting for the ferry, so the plane ride home was a little soggy! We were still on Cloud 9 from the trip, so it didn't matter. :-) Our favorite restaurants were Asolare (so, so yummy), The Beach Bar for lunch and casual dinner, and we had a really good meal at The Fish Trap, too. Oh, and also Deli Grotto for breakfast and lunch to-go. And Sun Dog Cafe! So many good places! Our favorite beach was Hawksnest, the sand was just so soft and nice. And we ended up taking a "Sunset Cruise" through Sail Safaris which was awesome! We were the only two on the boat and they gave us unlimited cocktails and some appetizers. Lots of fun! I have been raving about St. John and CDS to everyone I know since we returned. I am hoping to put together a family trip there sometime soon and I'd love to stay at CDS again, so you'll be hearing more from us in the future! Thanks for all your help in the time leading up to the trip, all the questions you answered and suggestions you made. It definitely made it the best trip of our life!

My husband and I travelled to STJ for our honeymoon this summer and it was undoubtedly the best vacation of my life! ... The ferry ride was fine, though we were getting antsy to be in St. John by that time. (Tip: be sure to bring a hat or sun block in your purse if you plan to ride the top deck of the ferry....) We got our things and walked over to St. John Car Rental to get our Jeep Wrangler.... Our villa rep met us there and escorted us to Calypso del Sol in Chocolate Hole (a stone’s throw from the Westin). I cannot recommend this villa highly enough. Sally was SO helpful in the planning stages of our trip and always responded to emails and questions quickly. We had no troubles with any transactions. And the home… it is just gorgeous. I have to say that the pictures on-line just don’t do it justice. The layout would be really perfect for groups as the main bedroom/bathroom is on the top level with the kitchen/living room, and the two bottom bedrooms have private outdoor entrances off the pool deck and their own baths. Since it was just the two of us, we occupied the upper level of the house the entire week, but the lower bedrooms and baths are just as nicely appointed and maintained. The master bedroom has vaulted ceilings, very nice linens, tasteful décor and the master bath has a HUGE tile shower. The living room was very comfortable and they provide some DVDs, games and other entertainment. Kitchen was stocked with cooking utensils and lots of spices, etc. The deck overlooking Chocolate Hole was my favorite place. In the morning I’d have coffee on the sofa out there and write and listen to the birds. There is also a nice covered porch on the upper deck, but we didn’t spend too much time there for some reason. The pool/spa area was wonderful – tons of nice lounge chairs, rafts, etc.... The weather was a bit hot for me to use the spa much, but my husband loved it and was glad we booked a villa with one. I kept getting the feeling of being in a home that has been cared for… you can tell the owners take pride in it and they want you to feel welcome. Little touches like throw blankets, tons of extra towels and linens, nice dishes, etc just put the villa over the edge. We were so happy with our choice!...

We absolutely loved your home and had what I would consider one of our best vacations exploring on St. John. An unbelievably beautiful island with gorgeous beaches that make me feel like a beach snob when I now look at our Florida beaches. Your home is beautiful and so perfectly accomodating. It was just the type of relaxing, laid-back vacation that I needed. We tried a number of the restaurants that you recommended and they were great. I can definitely say we will be going back to St. John and will be contacting you when we do. Thanks again for sharing your home with our family.

How can I even begin. St. John is extraordinary in and of itself. But Calypso Del Sol just added so much more to our vacation. The home itself was nicely decorated and very clean! Everything seemed to be “kept up” and maintained.... We spent much of our time outside of the house exploring St. John. The pool was magnificent! We enjoyed it every afternoon upon returning from a beach excursion. We didn’t use the hot tub as much as we thought we would, but we did use & enjoy it a bit. We ate on the screen porch 2 evenings when we cooked at home. What a great feature of the home. We listened to a lot of your “tropical” music CD’s in the afternoons/evenings as we swam and watched the sun set. We also enjoyed watching all the iguanas in the trees. The location of the home was so perfect. We couldn’t see any of the neighbors & felt we had our own private hideaway. It was so close to town for our evening trips to town for dinner. It was a great location! You suggested the concierge services of Trevor, located in Mongoose Junction. He was fabulous and guided to a beautiful full-day island hopping trip to Virgin Gorda, Norman Island & the Soggy Dollar. We all had so much fun!! I really could go on and on. You helped make our stay perfect. You have a very beautiful home & I would definitely consider staying at Calypso Del Sol in the future. Thank You So Much! J S & Family

Just wanted to tell you what a great time we had ( once we finally arrived!)! Your home was perfect and had everything we needed and more. Home and the views were lovely! You were right, we only used the pool the day we arrived. The beaches were breath taking and we visited several, also drove to Coral Bay. You were so easy to work with.... Thanks again for accommodating us. We certainly hope to be able to return one day. We had planned this trip thinking that it might be our last "family" vacation, as we know it. And, sure enough, our oldest daughter got engaged the night we returned!! So thankful that we made lots of family memories in your beautiful home in gorgeous St John! Sandy

Calypso Del Sol is a fantastic villa with great views inside and out. The porches are amazing and the large pool was so relaxing. The beach chairs and the cooler were great to take to the many beaches on St. John. The location is so convient to Cruz Bay and the market, and yet it is very quiet and private as well (can't see your neighbors at all). The villa inside was very clean and nice, and we particularly enjoyed the great view from the master bedroom when waking up in the morning! Also, the bathroom is big and the shower is huge, with a lot of water pressure - wonderful! Everything about this villa is fantastic, and we hope to return some day!

My husband and I, our two children, and my parents had an absolute dream vacation at Calypso del Sol. The amenities are what you would find at home, too many to list, every comfort imaginable with an exquisite view and a very pleasant and helpful property manager. While it was a great vacation with children, the house can very easily accomodate three couples. St. John is a magical island and we were very happy to have found such a perfect house.

This was our second visit to St. Johns but first time in Calypso del Sol. We loved Calypso del Sol's amenities -- it's private pool, location on the island and proximity to downtown, the views, the great room and porch, the well equipped kitchen because we like to cook some of our meals ourselves -- we had a great time.

This was our second stay at Calypso del Sol and the first time we were there with our three adult children. We found Calypso a perfect home-away-from home. Perched over Chocolate Bay, it is beautifully sited morning, noon and night for lovely and interesting views. The pool and the porches were favorite spots for relaxing, reading and talking. The bedrooms and the downstairs porch offer privacy while the main floor offers space for everyone in shared or separate activities. We enjoyed sunning, eating, hiking, snorkeling and generally exploring St. John. It was a perfect retreat for our family at a time when the beauty and peace of Calypso was much needed, an oasis from which we returned restored and refreshed.
