Wake up surrounded by nature. Enjoy watching the deer graze just off the deck. Go for a hike in Nisene Marks State Park (just 1/2 mile away) where there are 30 miles of trails for hiking, jogging and biking. Or hang out at the beach next to The Palo Alto (or better known as 'The Cement Ship'), where you can fish from the pier.
This impressive cottage boasts over 700 square feet of decking that wraps around three sides of the the house for plenty of relaxing in the outdoors. When you're not outside, come in and enjoy the gas climate controlled floor to ceiling stone fireplace which sets the ambiance for the whole cottage.

We just completed a weekend at the Pineapple Express in Aptos and could not be happier. Very relaxing to be amongst the trees and to wake up and feel you are in the middle of the forest. Very well appointed kitchen and especially appreciated the decent knives to prep with. Being so close to town was great and we would stay here again in an instant. Only recommendation is to connect the DVD player up with a HDMI cord for a better picture.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We came here for one night to get away from the "city." We were surrounded by the trees and fresh air, which was perfect. Plenty of fresh linens and pillows to keep us warm at night. The kitchen was a bit on the smaller side, but it did the job. Albert was easy to get a hold of, and was very helpful.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

What a gem of a place. It is like living in a tree house. Everything was just as the description and photos said it would be. The house was spotless. The only recommendation I would make is, arrive during the day if you possibly can as it is really dark in the neighborhood. There is plenty to see and do from Santa Cruz to Monterey. In the house there is a basket filled with up to date local suggestions and maps or you can just veg out in a beautiful location. Loved the deck area.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This place has soo much to offer it has all the charm of country living and was about a mile hike, bike or drive to beach, food or grocery for us. It was right next to the Nisene Marks State Park nestled in the Redwoods with over 60 miles of mountain bike and hiking trails that was perfect for our early morning strolls or late afternoon after the the beach this area was a great change of scenery for us, our kids thought it was awesome!!!! I highly recommend this cottage in the woods it was like being in the mountains and beach at the same time, LOVED IT!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We needed a last minute vacation rental, found this one and it was perfect. Felt like home. Tucked away in the redwoods but still close to everything including the beach. Love this place!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Thanksgiving 2010 "Gobble Gobble"!! Albert & Marsal, This cottage was exactly what we needed for our getaway. Thank you for making this home so warm and cozy! From day one, all I could think was, "I never want to leave!!" Thank you for this charming little retreat- quiet, peaceful, and exactly what my husband, my daughter and I needed. We were here during nearly 100 degree temperatures. Rental Rules/ Contract “The Pineapple Express” Aptos Home (808)328-2379. 1. CHECK-IN TIME IS AFTER 3 P.M. PST AND CHECK-OUT IS 11 A.M. PST. 2. This is a NON SMOKING HOME. 3. Pets are not permitted in rental, unless pre-arranged with owners. 4. DAMAGE/CLEAN UP CLAUSE a. No damage is done to home or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear. b. No charges are incurred due to contraband, pets or collection of rents or services rendered during the stay. c. All debris, rubbish and discards are placed in trash outside, and soiled dishes are cleaned. d. All keys are left in the lock box and unit is left locked. e. All charges accrued during the stay are paid prior to departure. f. No linens are lost or damaged. g. NO Early check-in or late check-out(unless arranged with owner). h. The renter is not evicted by the owner (or representative of the owner), the local law enforcement. i. Sandy feet must be rinsed off before entering the house. An excessive amount of sand in the house, shower or tub will require additional cleaning and charge. j. Please, conserve energy by turning off power and water when not in use. k. Please respect us and our neighbors by keeping noise levels down to a minimum after 10:00p.m. 5. PAYMENT – Your charge card will be charged for your payment upon submitting your reservation request. An advance payment equal to 50% of the rental rate is required at the time of booking. The advance payment will be applied toward the rent. Please make payments in the form of Visa, MasterCard. The advance payment is not a damage deposit. The BALANCE OF RENT is due sixty (60) days before your arrival date. If your booking falls within 60 days of your arrival, then payment in full is required upon reservation request. 6. CANCELLATIONS – A sixty (60) day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations that are made more than sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date will incur no penalty. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay, that are made within 60 days of the arrival date, forfeit the full advance payment and reservation deposit. Cancellation, no shows, or early departure does not warrant any refund of rent or deposit. NOTE: A 3% charge will apply on credit card refunds. 7. MONTHLY RESERVATION CANCELLATIONS – Monthly renters must cancel one hundred twenty (120) days prior to check-in. Monthly renters who make a change that results in a shortened stay must be made at least ninety (90) days prior to check-in. 8. MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY- The maximum number of guests is limited to four (4) persons. An additional charge or $10.00 per person per night for guests in addition to four(4) will be assessed. THIS PROPERTY REQUIRES A TWO (2) NIGHT MINIMUM STAY. 9. Longer minimum stays may be required during holiday periods. Guests may be subject to holiday rates. 10. INCLUSIVE FEES – Rates include a one-time linen-towel setup. Amenity fees are included in the rental rate. 11. NO DAILY MAID SERVICE – While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate however is available at an additional rate. The basic starters, toilet paper, and paper towels, are included. 12. RATE CHANGES – Rates subject to change without notice. 13. Lighting of candles is not allowed b. Please use caution when using the stairs, especially the stairs to Valencia Road. They are steep and can be unstable. c. Rental owner is not responsible for any accidental injuries or any injuries resulting from the violation of the above rules, during your stay. d. There is no phone in the house. We suggest you bring a cell phone. e. Please use caution when using our roads as sight can be restricted. f. If you are staying more than one week, please take your trash up to our main pick-up on Valencia Road using the stairs at the rear of our house, or driving it there on your way out. Look for turnout above the house on Valencia Road. Pick-up is Wednesday. 18. Any personal items left at house can be mailed back to you upon request,for a $20.00 charge plus shipping and handling, which will be charged to the card on file. About the owner: We grew up in Northern California and always vacationed in the Santa Cruz area with our families. In 2005 we moved to Hawaii and still come back to vacation in Aptos with our children. In 2009, we found this perfect place for our family to vacation and truly love visiting.
Why the Owner Chose Aptos:
We loved this property from the beginning despite it's poor appearance. We worked on the property for months and got it picture perfect. We love the location because we feel like we are in the mountains, while only 2 short miles to the beach. The privacy is great too with 1/3 of an acre. It's very peaceful and quiet with very little traffic.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The house is cozy and comfortable. The large stone fireplace is so relaxing when you turn on the fireplace. Hang out on the rear deck or the front, take a walk down our private road, or just gaze off into the forest to catch a glimpse of deer. There is shopping and restaurants just a 1/2 mile down the road. Most of the time the fog will lift at the house before it will at the beach.
