Immersed in a small village in the Tuscan countryside only 7 km from Lucca.
HISTORY
The structure dates back to the 1600’s and according to the stories handed down for generations it was originally a convent. With time it became a place for the selection and storage of the local rice crop. A plaque on the front of the building testifies to this.
From generation to generation it acquired various transformations and during the last century part of the structure became a flour mill, evidenced by the large and picturesque iron wheel that still exists behind the house.
Another part of the structure was used as an olive press to produce the local extra virgin olive oil.
The apartment on the ground floor has been restored maintaining the existing features of the olive press still present today.
Inside the apartment there is an old piece of machinery which was used to press the olives and in the floor covered by a glass panel you can see the terra cotta container to preserve the freshly pressed olive oil. Also visible are the original supporting arches of the old structure.
The original “stone machinery” that was used to press the olives has been placed in the garden.
EXISTING
The apartment has 2 bedrooms, one bathroom and one large room used as a living room and dining area.
The property is comfortably furnished with new and restored antique furniture and keeping in tune with the original look.
An exterior dining area is available just outside the entrance door. A few steps will take you to the large garden to have meals and relax enjoying the beautiful countryside. The small stream that runs nearby makes the atmosphere even more magical.
A welcome pack is provided for our guests at arrival.
Brunches, dinners and snacks of typical Tuscan products can be requested for a little charge of 20 Euros per person.
