ABOUT LAKE COUNTY AND CLEARLAKE
Clearlake is the largest natural freshwater lake in the State of California and second oldest lake in the world! Visitors enjoy fishing, swimming, sailing, wind surfing, parasailing, water-skiing, boating, and riding jet skis. There is a free boat launch right below our house and individuals can rent boats and personal watercraft from many local businesses. Clearlake is approximately 90 minutes northeast of San Francisco. For 15 consecutive years Lake County has had the cleanest air in all of California. Winters are mild here, generally 40s and 50s and Summer temperatures are usually in the 80s and 90s.
The lake itself is truly magnificent. It stretches nearly twenty miles in length and includes over 100 miles of shoreline. Considered a “warm water” lake, the bass fishing is unrivaled as witnessed by the 40+ fishing tournaments held here annually out of Thompson Harbor. The record large mouth bass caught out of this lake weighed a whopping 17.52 pounds!

This was our primary residence in Lake County 15 years ago. We looked consistently for the perfect property for over a year before buying and felt this was the most amazing property on the entire lake, because of the privacy and immensity of the unobstructed water view.
The Unique Benefits at this Country House / Chateau
Because the house is booked so heavily, we rarely spend time here. But we always come in the 1st week of May and prepare the house for the summer season. And we absolutely love our time here every year. The beauty and tranquility of this unique location floods your senses. Every hour of every day and evening the play of light on the water and sky effects you. Viewing the boats and watching the swooping birds above and the deer in our adjoining walnut orchard contribute to our enjoyment and appreciation of this unique setting.

We live in beautiful Lake County most of the time. I sold my Internet marketing company a few years ago and my wife wound down her successful art business. We have two daughters both married with children and delight in our 3 granddaughters. We are semi retired now but still keep very busy with our other vacation rental properties, family and service to our spiritual fellowship.

This was a wonderful place to vacation. The view is magnificent, everything was as mentioned. We enjoyed every mintue of it. We meet the locals, went boating around the lake, wine tasting and site seeing. We will definitely recommend to our family and will return ourselves. What a magical spot this is! We came up for the weekend from SF and were delighted by our time here. On day one we were treated to a doe and her two fawn. they hung out in the orchard all weekend - very cool. The views here are absolutely incredible! It really made us want to move up here permanently. Everything about the house and wonderful hot tub is superb. We had a terrific weekend. Thank you.

WOW! What a spectacular view of the lake! We loved lounging in the hot tub! It is so nice to get out of the city (SF) for a few days, especially to a close, quiet destination like this. My wife and I wanted to mention how much we enjoyed staying at what we came to call the "dream" house above Clear Lake. First, the house was spotlessly clean yet had a very welcoming atmosphere that made us feel completely comfortable and relaxed. The tasteful mixture of art and furnishings helped orchestrate the sense of "the perfect vacation retreat". The wood stove in the living room gave us a cozy warm feeling at night and somehow it all went perfectly with the view. And The View! Talk about being cradled by Nature! This lake house has it all! I don’t think I can adequately describe how totally restful it was to swing in the hammock chair on the back enclosed porch, gazing out over the most beautiful expanse of peaceful lake and shore I've ever seen. We felt like we had died and gone to Heaven! What was so utterly remarkable about the "dream" house, was that the view was wonderful no matter which room you were viewing it from! But if I was forced to choose a favorite view, it would have to be from the marvelous hot tub nestled in a protected area of the deck. I can only tell you that the enjoyment generated with my sweetheart there, with the warm water, the beautiful lake and the stars twinkling down, while the night air played on our faces, was nothing less than food for the soul. It was, without a doubt, the best money I have ever spent, for a vacation getaway. Our dreams came true here, and you'll certainly be hearing from us again. What a beautiful place! We felt like we were in Costa Rico or Peru again! Hard to believe we were so close to home, and yet, felt like we were worlds away. The featured color of the house is blue so whether you are inside or out you get the feeling of being near a lake. The kitchen was well stocked with items to make food prep easy and there was even a back up coffee maker in the cupboard. Extra blankets, towels, and out door cushions were easy to find. This space has beds to sleep six if two are small children. Everything was clean on the surface but the bedding, was not fresh and dust free. On the last night in an effort to get back to reality I wanted to check e-mail and discovered the wifi was not functioning and I could find no equipment or information to get it working. Anywhere else this would be an average house, but the views from the house, porch, and hot tub make it worth going back. The renting agents provided a written contract and great directions to the house.
Owner response:It is a shame that renter did not call me or check the 1st page of house information booklet. The password for the wireless internet is clearly posted in yellow highlight on page 1. I doublechecked internet connection on the move-out day and it worked perfectly.
