The Butternut Cottage is a four-season, ranch-style bungalow, located on the west-facing shore of Sturgeon Lake, about 15 minutes drive from Lindsay and 30 minutes from Peterborough. This spacious executive cottage and property are located on a quiet residential street, with cottages on both sides. The road is kept clear all winter. The lake frontage is 100 feet; the water is 3' deep off the 32' dock.
The Cottage contains four bedrooms and 2.5 baths. The Cottage is equipped with central air and a heat pump; a gas fireplace in the living room as well as a pellet stove in the sun room are used for ambiance and to augment the central heating during cold winter days. The sunroom contains a five-person hot tub and games area. East and west decks allow enjoyment of morning sun and spectacular sunsets.
The very workable lakeside kitchen includes side-by-side fridge, convection oven and stove, and dishwasher and is fully equipped for for eight guests. Meals can be enjoyed in the dining room, the breakfast room or on either deck.

Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful cottage. We had a marvelous weekend, excellent surroundings, good company, good food & drink and lots of laughs. The fishing was amazing and hopefully we will be able to visit again. The neighbours were friendly and all in all, we had a fabulous time. Thanks once again.Did you find this review helpful? My family of five visited in late June. We were extremely pleased with the property and the location. The property is located in a quiet neighborhood within 15 minute proximity to a couple of towns with a mixture of quant stores and restaurants and modern conveniences. The property was exactly as described and pictured (except the snow!). The house was well equied and taken care of. Everything worked and there were no surprises. The whole rental experience (inquiry, reservesation, payment, arrival, and departure) was positive and couldn't have gone any smoother.Recommended for: Families with young children.

We had a wonderful time here over the Thanksgiving weekend. You have a beautiful place ! I wish we could have enjoyed jumping in the water, but maybe we'll come back next summer. We did enjoy the surroundings and the gorgeous lake-view. Stunning.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Cottage was perfect for our large family. Great dock for our boats. Had an absolutely terrific week here. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Beds are very comfortable. Would love to stay here again. Fishing was very good - perch were a nice size and the dart board was a good place for family fun. Deck outside was a great way to enjoy the view and the sunsets.Did you find this review helpful? we're back from the cottage:) We had an awesome time there. Your cottage is very beautiful. We all loved it and enjoyed our time. It's something that we're definitely considering to return to in the warm season to use the lake. The view must be magnificent in that season!Did you find this review helpful? Stayed here in July 2010 and had a fantastic time! The cottage was spacious and well equipped with plenty of amenities. Backing onto the lake was really what sold us though. Beautiful sunsets and lazy days on the dock were exactly what we wanted. Great cottage experience! Also it was well situated. We wanted to avoid driving the 400 back to Toronto on a long weekend so the location wasideal for us.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: I am a retired engineer. I have three grown children and four young grandchildren who are the delight of my life.
Why the Owner Chose Sturgeon Lake:
I bought and renovated this cottage/house in 2002 because I loved the setting, the waterfront, the lake (for water sports and cross-country skiing), the sunsets, the decks, its proximity to my home and the ranch layout of the cottage itself. I am renting it until I fully retire and move, full time, to its location.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
I enjoy the sunsets, all year around, as the cottage faces west, overlooking Sturgeon Lake. I enjoy swimming off the dock and other water sports like canoeing. There are two decks, one on the east side for morning sun and one on the west side for afternoon sun and evening sunsets; I enjoy sitting and reading on the decks. The cottage has four very comfortable bedrooms with "innkeeper" mattresses. I enjoy the hot tub in the evening, after a busy day of relaxing by the lake, golf at a course nearby or cross-country skiing on the lake. The kitchen includes a convection oven, dishwasher, refrigerator with ice machine, microwave oven and many small appliances; it is a delight to cook in.
