The Granite View Lodge is situated on 1.5 mountainside acres that backs up to National Forest and is located in the Sierra Prieta range at an approximately 6300 foot elevation. The home site has tall pines, but is only about 10 minutes west of the historic downtown Courthouse Square.

Why the Owner Chose Prescott

Although Arizona offers several high country vacation locales, we feel that Prescott has the most to offer. Our home is an hour to two hour drive from most areas of Phoenix and about 10 minutes from historic downtown Prescott. The town was established in the mid 1800's, served as the state capital for awhile and is rich in history. With lots of great restaurants, casinos, and bars featuring live entertainment along the famed "Whiskey Row" the opportunity to stay out to the "wee hours" is available on any given night. Day time activities include golf, fishing, hiking, shopping, and sightseeing. Prescott hosts an annual Rodeo and Arts and Crafts shows are frequently held around the Courthouse Square.

The Unique Benefits at this Lodge

The Lodge is situated on 1.5 acres in the Sierra Prieta Mountain Range, at an elevation of approximately 6400 feet and backs up to the National Forest. Views from the twin decks include Granite Mountain and Bill Williams Mountain. The home is designed for entertaining, with the kitchen, nook, dining, and living areas all open in one large room with vaulted ceilings and skylights. Downstairs features another large room that includes a wet bar, foosball, ping pong, and pool tables. Both the top and second floors offer easy access to the spacious decks. With two large master suites and two queen bedrooms, their is plenty of room for large groups. Several hiking trails are nearby in the National Forest, and yet you don't have to negotiate any dusty or muddy dirt roads to get to the Lodge!

Owner's Map of Prescott

We have lived in the desert city of Phoenix for many years working in real estate and advertising and decided to purchase a home in the Arizona high country that we could eventually retire to several years down the road. With Ponderosa pines surrounding our home and temperatures usually 20 degrees cooler than Phoenix, the environment is the completely different experience from Phoenix that we wanted. Prescott has big city amenities with a small town feel. As much as we love visiting our mountain home and entertaining family and friends, job commitments keep us in Phoenix most of the time, so we have been sharing our dream with other families!

Absolutely Fabulous

This house is one of the best places that I have had the opportunity to stay. We are a family of 5 adults and 4 dogs and I can definitely say there was something for everyone in this place. The views from the decks were breathtaking--especially when the storms rolled through. My brother and I took advantage of every day walking the hills with the dogs--and the last morning we were there we were able to enjoy the company of 3 beautiful bucks on our walk. The pictures, appearance and amenties at the house were great--my brother and nephew played pool until the wee hours! If you want a beautiful location and a fun time--this place has it all.

Wow! What an incredible home

Our group of 8 stayed at the Granite View Lodge for the Halloween weekend. We arrived later in the evening and pulled up to the Lodge on Sleepy Hollow Dr. (How fitting). We were amazed at what a beautifual home it is. The main level has a huge kitchen and 2 islands which opens to the great room. This was perfect for entertaining! A cozy fireplace and nice furnishings in the great room. The master bedroom is on the main level and has a private bath with a huge tub. Downstairs there are 3 huge bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The game room is set up with a bar, refrigerator, game tables. The Lodge is a party home! Our biggest suprise was awakening the next morning to awesome views of Granite Mtn. Having coffee on the deck in the morning and star gazing at night was truly a highlight of our stay. At dusk we had a glass of wine and watched the deer graze just bellow the deck! The forest view from the deck seems endless. The next evening we all dressed up in costumes and went into the town of Prescott. The town was vibrant and teeming with party people. We cruised the streets and bars all night and had a blast! The next day we hiked right outside the door of the lodge; no need to drive anywhere. The hike was fantastic and lasted about 3 hours. All in all, we had a great experience at the Granite View Lodge! The lodge is well maintained and shows pride of ownership. We were impressed with how clean it is kept. We are planning our next vacation to the Granite View Lodge!

Three Weeks in Heaven

Guest: Cheryl (Dallas)
Date of Stay: 07/20/10 Review Submitted: 08/16/10

Our family met at Granite View this summer and it was exactly as presented in the review by the owner. This is a perfect place to escape a stress filled life. In fact, it was hard to leave the house and get out and enjoy Prescott and the environs. There were 3 generations, and there was something for everyone. The seniors in the group spent lots of time on the upper balcony, reading and watching the hummingbirds feed. The youngsters really loved the 2nd floor with all the video and table games, and the adult children drifted from the weight room to throughout the house. The privacy was great, and the silence golden. Late one afternoon we had 3 deer feeding in the back yard. At night the star gazing was incredible...can't see that in the city! It is true that I am very stingy with that 5th star.....always have been. There were some minor inconviences: With no remote for the garage door, someone had to scamper and jump the beam to go in and out of the garage. (It became an Olympic sport for the little kids known as "Jumping IT". It was somewhat uncomfortable for the people sleeping downstairs as there was no access to the AC. But there were ceiling fans that helped. Since we were there for an extended period we had bought quite a lot of groceries. There was not a storage area, so we turned the kitchen table into the pantry. The dog was constantly looking for a small patch of grass, but he too, adapted. As you can see these are all minor complaints. Oh, yes, no one to tuck us in bed at night. NICE SURPRISES: The city of Prescott was a nice surprise. It was consistantly 3 to 5 degrees cooler at the house than in town. Lots of hummingbirds. Very nice hikes available. Beautiful scenery even from the bed! The management was very nice and quick to respond. Thanks to all of you.
