The sunsets on Lake Michigan rival those on any great body of water around the world. Magnificent and ever changing, they can be enjoyed on the elegant and comfortable decks that are incorporated into the steps down to the lake or from the covered patio that faces the spectacular lake view. The 300 feet of pristine private beach is part of what makes this cottage a place where families come to be part of the magic of spending time at the lake.
A safe, private location, where adults can get back to the simple pleasures of building sand castles and playing in the waves with their children or spending a quiet afternoon with a good book on the decks. The beach can be walked for miles in either direction where a careful eye will find Petoskey stones or a favorite rock to take home. For the more energetic, you can swim and discover the sandbar, run on the beach, fly a kite or windsurf in Lake Michigan.
The house is nestled in a woody setting. The waves will lull you to sleep in one of the 4 bedrooms (3 queens and 2 twin beds). There is an outdoor shower to rinse off the sand and two bathrooms inside. A large great room holds a table for cards and puzzles, a wonderful dining area as well as couches and chairs to nap on or talk late into the evening after a full day of exploration. The music room with piano is a place to gather for songs or a quiet place for writing or reading. The fully equipped kitchen with washer and dryer, dishwasher, and microwave has a breakfast bar for those slow morning awakenings.
If you prefer, you can be in Douglas in 10 minutes, or Saugatuck or South Haven in a few more and have coffee at one of the outdoor cafes after leisurely visiting the shops. There are concerts, great restaurants and movie theaters in surrounding towns as well as several local farmers markets. There are places to pick berries or fruits or if you are so inclined to rent bikes or water craft. The neighborhood is quiet and safe for a long bike ride or a leisurely walk.
This is a place where memories are made. Come, enjoy, reflect and relax.
