a little piece of heaven
a little piece of heaven
I stayed here with my 9 year old daughter for a long weekend before the start of school. We had never been to the area before so it was an adventure. We were able to easily drive to Linville Caverns, gem mining, Mt. Mitchell and Asheville from the Carriage Cottage. The Cottage itself is lovely, a perfect space for us. I was able to cook most of our meals in the kitchen, and my daughter had a chance to kick back and watch some tv (we don't have that at home). On one of our walks we encountered a doe and her fawn walking by the waterfall. John and Susan were wonderful hosts, so friendly and informative. We hope to return very soon.

We stayed a week at this location and found it to be a charming and restful place to stay. The site is easy to get to and convenient to Burnsville, Asheville, and Johnson City. We had use of the garage to store our car, which was very useful due to the inclement weather we experienced during our January stay. The cottage is well-appointed, featuring cable TV, Wi-Fi internet washer/dryer etc. The heaters kept us very comfortable during our stay. Everything was clean, in good repair, and mostly appeared new. John and Sue went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They were extremely responsive to our needs. The grounds are beautiful, the waterfall a delight. We met Bear, their large furry dog that has the run of the grounds. We found him friendly; he accompanied us during our walks on the property. Highly recommended.

A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN
A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN
My husband and I spent a week at the Carriage Cottage and found it to be a little bit of heaven! As a destination in itself, this comfortably furnished cottage offered peace and quiet and the beauties of nature in flowers, trees, babbling brooks, etc. As a jumping off point to explore the wonders of the NC mountains, the location is ideal. We enjoyed trips to Asheville, Mt. Mitchell, the Linville Caverns, the Burnsville Playhouse and the Blue Ridge Parkway, to name a few. We can't recommend this lovely vacation spot highly enough.

We always have the best time in North Carolina. Sue and John offer a great place to stay on a beautiful piece of property. The cottage offers plenty of privacy with it being fenced off from the main property, feel free to grill out or read a book on your own private outdoor patio. The cottage is warm and inviting, even the fold out bed is comfortable! You won't be disappointed and you can't beat the price.

About the owner: We fell in love with this unique property at first glance while vacationing in Black Mountain NC in 2004 One thing led to another and we have built a lovely Victorian home accented with our Carriage Cottage built in 2007.
Why the Owner Chose Burnsville:
The decision to buy and build on this property was easy, we both love the 4 seasons which was absent in Florida. We longed for the views of the mountains especially in the fall. The diversity of the area provides endless activities that we love
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We are surrounded by water features you can sleep with your windows open and hear Horton Creek flowing by. The land has numerous wild flowers, butterflies, wild berries, humming birds. Hiking around the property is an adventure.
