My husband and I stayed at the Belleville Cottage over Spring break this last Spring. Wish we were back in Algiers Point right now as it is cold and rainy here today. Bob was a very good host, explaining the great neighborhood soon after we arrived. Supplied us with a snack basket that really hit the spot on many occasions. Algiers Point is a wonderful place to experience. Wonder why we had never stayed there before. We will never stay anywhere else when visiting N.O., now. Traveled back and forth on the free ferry only a few blocks away from the cottage and never drove into town unless we were going to Magazine Street or the Garden District, etc. Did not have to worry about parking in the French Quarter as we walked and rode the ferry each day we were there, leaving our car at the cottage most days. And the cafe Tout d' Suite, ate there every morning. Had great lunches there some days, as well. It's just three blocks from the cottage. Did not use the kitchen much as the food was so great within walking distance in either Algiers Point or the French Quarter. Enjoyed the music at two neighborhood pubs in Algiers while we were there, however enjoyed Frenchmen Street music scene even more.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway.

We love New Orleans and Algiers Point and have visited from Canada over 7 times so decided to rent an apartment for a month this time. We booked a year ago and were led to believe that it was a 2 bedroom suite and therefore invited friends to visit us there. When we arrived we discovered that the one bedroom is actually in the kitchen and the only bathroom is in the other bedroom which you have to walk through to get to the laundry room to get to the garden. Also we were charged extra for our visitors which was not part of the original price. We found trying to communicate with the host by email and phone was extremely difficult prior to going to New Orleans. The garden was beautiful and we were anxious to use it although during the day the house was being sanded and painted which we did not know about until we arrived. The suite was rather dark and stuffy but had lots of character. The bathroom was very large and lovely but lacked hooks for hanging towels, etc. Overall we enjoyed the experience. This is not a true bed and breakfast as breakfast is a $5 coupon for Tout Suite down the road. Great cafe! The location is quiet and safe and we met some wonderful local residents. There is no phone or off street parking.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children.

My children and I stayed at the cottage while looking for permanent living quarters in New Orleans. The cottage was convenient and a nice retreat after spending the day in the city. Bob was a gracious host and the recommendations that he gave us for dining in Algiers Point were great. The Vine and Dine was very relaxing and good for unwinding after a busy day. Toute de Suite was a find. Having a health conscience vegetarian in the family it can sometimes be hard to find suitable restaurants. These surpassed our expectations. I would recommend Belleville Cottage to anyone that is visiting New Orleans and wants a home away from home to come back to every night.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

Bob's Belleville Cottage is a welcoming retreat in an exceptional neighborhood that is merely a short (FREE) ferry ride across the Mississippi to all the excitement that downtown New Orleans and the French Quarter have to offer. There are great places to eat in the neighborhood and Bob's hospitality is second to none. I can't think of any other place I would rather stay when visiting New Orleans.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Well, this is coming from one who was born and grew up exactly one block away from Belleville Cottage. We have lived in South Carolina for the past 30-plus years but return to N.O. whenever we can. Our visit this time was during the three-day weekend before Mardi Gras. My wife and I shared the Garden Suite with our daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons, knowing that you can get anywhere in town from here, and without a car or worrying about parking fees, etc. We know how expensive it can be to eat all your meals out, so the kitchenette was perfect for us. On top of that, the vouchers for the Tout de Suite restaurant, only three small blocks away, worked out perfectly so that we could go anytime we wanted, rather than wait around for b+b meals. The restaurant, which occupies an old, old barbershop where I had my hair cut as a kid, has great atmosphere and very good food, and you can hit it on your way to the ferry. Bob and his helpers were very accommodating and gracious. Sadly, we were too busy to really visit with them. You should really take some time to walk around Old Algiers and see how things used to be back in the old days, identifying groceries, bakeries, movie theaters or drugstores on every corner and lots of neighborhood bars -- well fewer now, but good ones. There are also churches of every denomination. It will be wonderful if we all go back to those days of steps-away conveniences. We loved it, and you will too!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.

I have told all my traveling friends this is the absolute best place to stay on a visit to New Orleans! Bob treated us like family, showed us around the nearby clubs at nite for great music and conversation with local folks. Parking is stress free. This B&B is located in Historic Algiers! Wonderful architecture and friendly neighbors. To visit the heart of New Orleans, walk a few short blocks to the free ferry to Canal St.in the heart of down town. What more can I say! I had been on a trip to Cajun Country and did not want to even go to New Orleans. What a pleasant surprise! Accomodations were spotless and first class, great bed and bath facilities, including terrycloth bathrobes. I will go again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

There's absolutely Nothing missing at Belleville Cottage! You're just minutes from the heart of the Quarter, with the most spectacular views of New Orleans only to be seen from across the river. You don't even need a rental car as everywhere you want to go is an easy stroll. Bob has made this place absolutely perfect by providing everything you need to get started for the day and then a welcoming place to come home to in the evening. Other reviewers have noted the friendly neighborhood atmosphere and it really is like visiting "Cheers" in each local cafe or bar- it's just so hard to believe it's just a 5 minute ferry ride to the hustle and bustle of the city. You'll love the Cottage, Algiers Point and most especially Bob!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Recently returned from a week at the cottage. It was lovely, in a quiet and historic part of the city, with friendly neighbors greeting you whenever you venture out. When not going out, it's just as enjoyable to sit in the yard and be grateful for the near perfect weather. Bob was wonderful about describing the area and giving recommendations for food and music. The local restaurant for breakfast was delicious with many healthy choices as well as regular breakfast favorites. I will definately be recommending this property to friends and relatives.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

This lovely space doesn't feel like a hotel but a home. The backyard garden is especially tranquil. Not only does one feel at home while staying at Belleville Cottage, but one can actually feel like a local thanks to Bob's information about the favorite restaurants, music spots, and other highlights of the city.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway.
