Kailua town is 30 minutes from airport but a whole different world from Waikiki--- much more relaxed. Great local restaurants- Lucys was our favorite but there are many excellent family owned places to go out. Gorgeous beach 3 houses away. Beautiful pool with snorkel gear and boogie boards for beach. We had mom/dad/gramma/2kids--- lots of space, lots to do, and lots of opportunity to decompress. Great hike up to Lanikai pillboxes 5 mins away and Maunawili Falls 10 mins away. Scuba with Aaron's took me over to other side of islands: $125 for 2 tanks all equipment: 4 turtles, dolphins, 1 white-tip... Great times. Only downside would be AC limited to evening hours but it didn't matter to us--- we were usually outside when it got warm and pool has nice shade. Thanks much- we hope to return.

The beach access was close and private. It is a spacious home with well thought out amenities. The home was very nicely decorated and the kitchen was well stocked. The premises were clean and well maintained. The owner was helpful and answered all questions prior to arrival. I would highly recommend this property. I would definitely rent this place again. Only one problem during stay,,, they want all vehicles to be parked in the garage. The garage has only one entrance and exit and that is the main garage door. We parked in the garage as requested, but unfortunately for us the power went out one morning and was out for about 3 1/2 hours. We were ready to start our vacation day with our planned activities, but could not open the garage door without power and there was not any other way to get into the garage (door or window) to pull release cord to get the door open. We just waited for the power to come back on. Also, a/c is on a timer and can only be used from 7pm till 7am. In the month of July, it was uncomfortable to get ready for the evening when the temperatures were so hot in the house and bathroom. Not much cross breeze and no air. It would have been nice for the air to come on at 5pm. Still a very lovely home and great vacation
Owner response:We now have a side door for the Garage and emergency access key for the main door so it can be raised by hand. The AC now comes on from 5pm until 7am. so its cool when getting ready to go out and cool for sleeping.

The pool is definitely the highlight of this house. Our whole family really enjoyed it after a long hot day around Kailua. The wood carvings and furnishings in the house are exquisite. The end of the cul-de-sac made the house feel safe and secure. We spent as much time enjoying the house, pool and backyard as we did exploring the island. The very short walk to the private beach access (one of the top ten beaches in the world) was very convenient and secure. A very quiet neighborhood and house. If the house had A/C throughout we would definitely be booking again. The A/C in the bedrooms was a welcome treat at night. The expanse of the house and the separation of the bedrooms/bathrooms makes this house a great vacation home for multiple family members. The closeness to Honolulu, 20 minutes, was especially gratifying and useful. The tranquility of the location of the house made it feel far away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Peter, the caretaker, recommended the Itialian restaurant, Formaggio's which turned out to be excellent...Mahalo! The owner was very helpful in working us into a completely booked house. For the owner Mahalo for sharing your beautiful home with us, we had a vacation of a lifetime.

We loved our December stay in this home. The house is so comfortable and well appointed we immediately felt at home there. All of the pictures and descriptions in the listing are spot on. This home is definitely well maintained, we were there for 2 weeks and never had a problem with any aspect of the house. Although we didn't have any problems during our stay and didn't need to talk to the owners, we did talk to them a few times prior to our arrival. They were helpful and always accessible, made sure we understood the entry directions and how to get started which was key to our transition. After a wonderful day at the beach it was always a pleasure to come back to the house and just relax on the patio and enjoy the pool and beautiful back yard. We are walkers and used the great walking paths and the parks in the area. We look forward to returning soon!

We would like to thank you and your wife so much for letting us stay at your beautiful house. Lihikai Kailua was perfect in every way. We were very comfortable and could tell a lot of thought went into the design and decoration of the property. This was our first visit to Hawaii so we did quite a bit of exploring. What we found out was that Kailua beach was the best quiet beach on Oahu. If you wanted to visit other attractions on the Island and there are many it is centrally located. We are looking forward to returning. Thanks again.

The house and the location were perfect! We loved it. The house was so spacious and airy. The landscaping was beautiful and gave the pool a lot of privacy. We felt like we were in our own little world. The beach was very close and the street seemed very far. We wish we could live here!
