You will not feel that you are 2 hours from Houston or Dallas. This new home is clean and loaded with decks and a massive dock with two boat slips and shade cover. Swim from the dock or cast a line and land a trophy bass. Or use the complimentary canoe and explore the quiet coves. Lighted fishing on the dock or shut the light off and amaze yourself with some of the best stargazing this side of West Texas.

Our Houston County Lake House is a real gem. It is relatively unknown to most people outside of the area. It seems all our guest that have stayed have fallen in love with the quaint lake and the great swimming and fishing. The area is reminiscent of small New England towns. Historic Churches and festivals abound. The hills, trees and creeks make touring an enjoyable past time.

Year Purchased: 2008
Brenda and I were attracted to East Texas because of its natural beauty. The rolling hills, creeks and heavily forested areas reminded us of our native New England.
When we first visited Houston County Lake we were hooked. We left the hustle and bustle of Spring (Houston) and settled for the small town charm and the prospects of building a Vacation Rental Business.
We built our first home (The Gregory) in 2007. Of course my business had been a life time of owning my own construction/ remodeling company in Houston. We labored on all our homes and were able to build them for much less than market pricing. This gave us the opportunity to rent well built, clean and maintained homes for much less than most any others could.
The Gregory was followed by Awesome View and eventually Creekside. All our homes are used solely for Vacation Rentals.
I was originally born in England and was young when my folks emigrated to Canada and eventually the U.S. with 4 kids in tow. You may notice the English connection with my love of gardening, something I credit my late Mother for instilling in me.
We work hard to provide a clean, comfortable and quality home at an affordable price, we think we do quite well at providing just that! We look forward to providing the same for you, your family and friends.

Why the Owner Chose Crockett
As mentioned, our love of the area stemmed from its natural beauty and the fantastic spring fed lake Crockett had to offer.
We felt the location between Houston and Dallas would afford many the opportunity of a more central meeting area that seemed to be lacking elsewhere. We also felt the proximity and short drive would attract people for short getaways as well as loner family vacations.
We attract motorcyclist that want to enjoy the twisty country roads with nice elevation changes as well as dirt bikers seeking of road experiences.
We attract, birders, hikers, fisherman, and all sorts of people….perhaps most importantly, we attract families. As parents of 5 children we most enjoy hearing of families “re-bonding” and leaving with big smiles and tales of monster fish being caught.
It’s these moments that make the job of providing homes for vacationing families so much fun.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Our homes are built for Vacation Rental purposes only. Unlike many vacation rentals we don’t have owner closets, pictures and locked doors. You will never feel like you are violating someone’s home when you stay with us.
Of course our main attraction is the beautiful area, small towns, festivals and of course the lake. Rarely is swimming not near perfect. Being a spring fed constant level lake means you will not see 7’, 8’ or Lake Travis 31’ foot low. The lowest the lake has been recorded at is 18”. The depth at the end of the dock is normally close to 8’.
Of course the festivals and events. The Crockett Rodeo, Camp Street Café, Christmas on the square, Grapeland peanut festival, Lovelady Lovefest….the list goes on and on.
The Davey Crockett National Forest as well as Caddoan Mounds Sate Park, perhaps Mission Tejas State Park or the Texas State Railroad with all sorts of fun rides for kids and adults is what you seek. We have a lot to offer other than relaxation and rejuvenation. Of course, that comes standard with a stay at our properties

My wife and I rented Awesome View for a long weekend with our daughter, son-in-law and three grandkids (ages 3,5,11). It was a wonderful weekend - even with 100 degree days. Everything is as pictured in the ad and absolutely clean and well kept. The decks were a delight with misters and fans to keep us cool and in the shade. Grandkids caught lots of pan fish off the dock and we enjoyed the kayaks and 2-person fishing boat. We hope to return for a fall trip and would highly recommend this property to others.

We had a wonderful week at Awesome View. It definitely has the right name. This place is a hidden treasure. The outside decks are the best part. Great for families with kids. The owners have taken great care to make this whole place feel homey and warm. All the flowers they have carefully placed all around the outside make it look so pretty. We were very impressed with the whole experience and will definitely return. They even provided floats and water toys. They were very friendly and helpful to us when booking and bent over backwards to provide answers to all our questions. We absolutely loved this place.

I had a great time at awesome view! I know my Dad loved it too because he grew up here! We went kayaking and boating and swimming! My cousin got three HUGE fish, I learned how to fish, Mom relaxed. Dad found a house he grew up in that looked the same as it did 35 years ago. My only complaint is that we didn’t stay long enough! Thanks Mark & Brenda for an awesome vacation. From Dad: The sunset views, the fishing, the decks and that cool lake I have always loved, every detail was perfect. You guys have done an incredible job and are wonderful hosts. We will be back!

We had a lovely stay at your property. It was the perfect relaxing getaway for our family. The boys loved the hot tub and want us to get one at our house. Our cook out at the fire pit was so much fun. The boys enjoyed cooking their hot dogs and roasting their marshmallows by themselves. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Wow, what an awesome place. The house is beautiful, right on the lake, with an absolutely inspiring deck down to the water. Sunsets across the lake were picture perfect. June 8-14 2009 We anticipated this vacation for almost a year and we were not disappointed. My son has recently started working over seas and has been out of the contry for several months.
