Why the Owner Chose Auburn
I built this home because I had a great wooded property behind me that is perfect for this log home. The lake is beautiful for 7 months a year and then private road is not reliable. The fishing and swimming is great and the home is great for groups having fun together.

Lovely immaculate home. Better than pictures show. The master BR has beautiful wide plank pine floors and is large and cozy at the same time. We were there Thanksgiving week and were very busy with family in the area. This did not allow me enough time at the house which was so peaceful and quiet when we were there. (I did cook Thanksgiving for four and it was our best day there, enjoying dinner, the fire, scrabble, a beautiful sunset on the lake and a movie on the DVD player.) The kitchen is adequate and wish we could have used the beautiful porches, though we did manage to grill. Supplies provided by the owner were helpful and a nice touch. Beds and bedding were fresh and clean with plenty of good quality towels. All in all we had a great week and the house more than met our needs and expectations. I would recommend this rental to a friend or relative without hestation.
Recommended for:Pet owners, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We have been to this particular home before. We went two years in a row then took two years to go elsewhere and came back as we just love this location, the owner is so easy going and best of all, for us, we can take our dogs with us and they deserve a vacation also being what we do for a living. !!! Yes the house if further from the lake then it appears in the pictures, but it is one of only a few spots where the beach area is flat and you don't have to climb down a cliff to reach the beach. The home is gorgeous inside and out, huge basement for kids or dogs to play and we had alot of rain this past vacation to deal with, so we used it quite a bit to play with our dogs. Lots to go and see in the area !!! Being this was our third time back, we were disappointed that the gas fireplace was NOT working and this wasn't disclosed at the time of booking, this is one of our favorite things about the home. Also we got shorted a day from our week as the owner had crossed up her booking dates, but she did give us a substantial discount for the unfortunate mistake. WE LOVE IT HERE and there are not too many places that will allow four dogs in this country at vacation homes, sure our dogs are show dogs and therapy dogs, well behaved, but here and a few other places around the country is the only place we have found that will allow us the luxuary of bringing them along. In response to some of the other comments left before mine, we go up in the early fall, so we are not exposed to the hot sun of the summertime. However I did see window ac units in the closets, perhaps a look around would bode well if you stay in the summertime. We prefer the quiet of the fall, the leaves changing color and the crackling fireplace at night, or sitting on the beach at night with a roaring fire under the stars. !!

House is well equipped with ample space and a large basement for recreation and storage. The major drawback is the afternoon sun on the deck which heats up living and takes a while to cool down. An awning or extra fan would be nice. Nice owner and neighbors. The lake is clean and refreshing and easy to get in and out. However, the walk to the lake is steep so be warned if you have elderly parents with you. The owner was kind enough to let us drive a vehicle there. Nice restaurants in the area and plenty of activities from hiking, biking, wine tasting and music.

This truly is a beautiful log home with all the comforts of home (with the exception of AC, but it was fine)! There are three good size bedrooms with two nice size bathrooms, and a full basement! It was nice to have all the room in the basement for the kids to hang out and play, and it was especially nice and cool. The master bath shower was a little tight but overall the log home was very clean with lots of room for adults and kids. It is well maintained and very clean! The lake access was a little longer a walk than pictured, but worth the walk as the lake front is a large flat spot with plenty of room to spread out! While you share the lake access with the owner you still feel like you have plenty of privacy and are very comfortable. The owner was especially nice and the neighbors were very friendly and helpful!! The kayaks provided were great to be able to cruise around on the lake. We had our nephew come out with his boat to go tubing and the lake was refreshing and clean! The dock was a little short and didn’t feel secure enough to tie the boat overnight, but the kids had a grand time jumping off of it! I would most definitely recommend this property to others as we'd love to go back again! We live in NC but have lots of family and friends from the Syracuse area. It was a wonderful place to have family and friends come out for the day to go swimming and boating while catching up and visiting! We live in NC but our hearts will always be in NY… Owasco Lake and all of the Finger Lakes are such a gem!!
