Nicely appointed unit for 2, Nicest we have stayed in while renting directly from owner. Great view, spacious outdoor area, lawns, waterfront. Unit had everything anyone would want on their stay, with lots of little things added in. Close to activities, restaurants in Kihei, yet somewhat private. Great owners who made it a wonderful vacation ( on Maui 2nd time in 4 months, this time for a family wedding). Will return to this unit if available when we come to Maui.

I hesitate writing a review, knowing that my accolades will make it harder for a repeat visit:). David and Sarah have made their condo a very special place, with nothing left to chance. From the granite counter tops and bamboo cabinets in the kitchen...to the beautiful shower and king bed...everything has been done with quality first. We've been stung occasionally on VRBO, but not this time! Would not hesitate to recommend this place. Love the secluded location away from the busyness just up the road. Very family friendly as well.

Our two weeks in this condo was all we had hoped for and more. The view was amazing and the condo was very comfortable. It was equipped with everything we needed to make our stay one we will fondly remember. The bed and the shower (two very important things to me) were both wonderful. The kitchen was very well laid out and easy to work in. The best part was the owners. Sara and David sincerely cared about making our stay there comfortable. We have already reserved our dates for next year.

This is GREAT!!!

We arrived Dec 19, 2012 and stayed thru Christmas. We arrived and entered the Condo and were very surprised that it was even much nicer in person... We soon found the Beach chairs (2) Boogie boards (3) and snorkeling which is provided and headed to the beach right away. We returned to grill our dinner at the grills next to the pool. What a very friendly group of people who were also renting and the regulars who live there. The pool is heated which was nice. The lawn is to die for...just pull up a lounge chair and relax by the ocean / beach all day. Snorkeling is great just outside the condo, no need to go on a half day boat ride (but that is nice too). The owners are super...they called to just make sure everything was in order and if we need anything. Another plus was just a short walk down the drive way to the street and the bus will take to Foodland and then drop you off in front of the condo, did not even need to drive. We will be back...FOR SURE!!!!

We've been spoiled!

We stayed at Surfside 208 in December 2012, and enjoyed it very much. We've stayed in other condos in Kihei in the past, but many tend to be on the other side of busy Kihei Road (away from the beach), with lots of traffic noise, and few ocean breezes, making the units hot and noisy. But of course the Surfside is right on the ocean, away from the traffic, in front of a huge manicured lawn (with lots of lounge chairs, shuffleboard and the heated pool), and the wonderful sound of the ocean waves. The balcony is small, but fine for 2 people, and the kitchen/living room is bright, renovated and attractive, and the layout works well. The location is really the best -- away from busy Kihei traffic, but a short drive to Foodland or Safeway -- and right next to Keawakapu beach and the Wailea walkway. We liked to drive to Polo Park (by the Fairmont in Wailea) about 7:30 (before it got too hot), and walk for 20-30 minutes to the little cafe on the boardwalk for a cool Frappacino, before walking back -- a lovely way to start your morning. There were a few little glitches that we contacted the owners about, which they responded to quickly, and Francine in the office was great in answering questions (and coming up with new batteries for the safe!). All in all, we loved it, and it's hard to imagine going anywhere else next time!

Nice little unit with a good location. Immaculate grounds, and a large beach just South of the unit. We enjoyed dining at the 5 Palms restaurant next door and watching the sunset from the grass in the evening. Lots of great dining just North. We would stay here again!

Exceptional for our first time to Maui!

Our stay was wonderful. Sarah and David's condo made us feel at home. It was so clean, cozy and comfortable for the two of us. The kitchen was so well equipped we ended up cooking a lot more than we had planned (which is great!). We thought the beach right by the condo was the best out of all of Kihei. We walked on it nearly every morning and evening. Also, we found that the beach outside provided the best snorkeling! The water was clear and we saw a sea turtle! The very thoughtful suggestions and guides provided in the condo were extremely helpful as it was our first time in Maui. We went hiking, saw dolphins, went canoeing and got in a few good cocktails. It was an extremely relaxing vacation for us and we would definitely recommend Surfside 208 to anyone.

Aloha Sara and David! We had a wonderful time in Maui, and your condo at the Surfside was one of the primary reasons. It was beautiful and very well set up. The kitchen was the best equiped we've ever found through VRBO, and we did a lot of cooking. Because the Surfside (and #208 in particular) is such a nice place to hang out, we were able to cook and enjoy a lot more meals at "home" than we usually do on vacation, so we saved a lot of money as well:-) The lawn is lovely, and we took way more pictures of sunset from the lanai than we need...probably 25 or more! But what a great place to watch it. And the Keawakapu Beach was just fabulous! We went to some other beaches, but after a few decided that the one right next door was about as good as it gets, so why drive around?! We went for a swim there every day except the road to Hana day. We did a fair amount of snorkeling there as well. One day a huge sea turtle swam right by us! The lanai was by far the best thing about the place. Breakfast on the lanai was a must every morning. We found that early rising was just a joy because we were able to sit out there in our PJ's and watch the sun cast a warm morning glow, while other guests did yoga and tai chi on the lawns and birds entertained us. The drying rack got tons of use! We observed that we were the only guests to have one, and we thanked you for it repeatedly. We had wet towels and suits daily, and often twice a day, so it was very useful. We found the people staying at the Surfside to be friendly but not intrusive, and enjoyed meeting with others and chatting down by the grills, or keeping to ourselves when we felt like it. We enjoyed the Five Palms Restaurant, (right across the parking lot) and the bar there, a couple of times. The food was excellent, and eating out on the patio under a full moon with the waves crashing on the beach below was very romantic. We are very glad that we decided to stay in Kihei while visiting Maui. The rest of the island is lovely, and we enjoyed visiting the jungle and the highlands, but in Kihei we had sunshine every day, while other areas were often shrouded in clouds. We would certainly recomment Kihei Surfside #208 to others! I can't imagine a better place to stay on Maui. Thank you for your hospitality!

Rave reviews for unit #208 at the Kihei Surfside! This condo was so comfortable and well appointed. It had everything I needed plus more! I loved the location - beautiful peaceful grounds and a very short walk to the beach.. I loved how everyone would gather downstairs with their cocktails in the evening to watch the most gorgeous sunset on earth! I also loved that there were grills provided. I met so many nice people while enjoying the sunset and grilling. The condo had everything I needed PLUS MORE. I am a flight attendant and spend a LOT of time away from home and I was so impressed with all the little extras that were provided by Sara and David. My favorite things: The condo is located near the center of the building and provides the most beautiful view of the ocean and islands. I LOVED waking up on the sofa bed - I literally gasped the first morning I woke up there..the view (while laying down!) and looking out the sliding glass doors past the Lanai, was incredibly beautiful! The sofa bed was so comfortable (not the norm!) and the trade winds blowing through the screen door while I slept...well it was heavenly. One morning while sitting on the Lanai with my coffee, I spotted two whales! Unusual to spot them in May but I guess there are always a couple a stragglers. The bedroom was of course, wonderful also - the bed is huge (is it really just a King sized bed??) and very comfortable also. The kitchen was so well stocked with everything you would need to cook in if you want. If you want to go out for a meal, there are lots of restaurants nearby that are very good. The last night i was in Kihei, I went next door to have happy hour with 1/2 price pupu's and cocktails - there is even a sushi bar and of course a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. This is the perfect location! I appreciated the extras such as the snorkeling equipment, beach chairs and beach towels. I went out snorkeling and saw VERY up close a HUGE sea turtle! It was so exciting. I also loved the i-pod docking/music system - it had wonderful sound to it and I loved having a DVD player and huge TV because I was able to pop in my exercise DVD when I wanted. I took a yoga class next door a couple of times and loved that it was walking distance (a short walk!) from the Kihei Surfside. Sara and David were so pleasant and accommodating to work with - I would LOVE to stay in their unit #208 again - hopefully next year!

Beautiful location and condo

This condo is located in a beautiful area in Kihei right in front of the ocean. Within a short walking distance there is a great beach where you can snorkel, enjoy the beach or go for a walk. The complex has a pool and other amenities within the ocean facing yard including several grills and games.The condo was clean and well equiped with all the amenities you can think of including some extra items like snorkeling gear. The condo appears to have been recently remodeled so it was better than other condos in the complex. The owners are really nice and very helpful and were very welcoming. I recommended this condo to my family and will most likely stay there in the future when we're in Maui.

My husband and I spent our vacation there this year. The condo is great! It is very clean and has everything you could ask for. It is definitely a luxury condo. The owners were great, calling us when we arrived to make sure everything was going well for us. The beach next door is fabulous. You can walk along way out into the ocean and it is all sand no rocks at all. The condo grounds are great as well BBQ's are available for your use as well and the pool is fabulous, definitely would recommend this condo to anyone.

Wonderful Kihei Surfside Unit!

My husband and I stayed in unit 208 at the Kihei Surfside during Spring Break, and had a wonderful vacation. The unit has been beautifully remodeled, and is stocked with everything you could possibly need (ie. snorkel equipment, beach towels, cooking tools, etc.). The view is something out of a story book :)

Highly recommend this condo. Third visit to Maui, this has been my favorite. Condo unit itself is beautifully updated and clean. The kitchen is well equipped with new appliances, utensils etc. The electronics (tv, music centre etc.) all new. Everything you need is there, even beach towels and binoculars! The location of the condo building is perfect. Kihei Road is a bit busy, but this building is situated far enough from the road that road noise is not an issue. The expansive, green, manicured lawn that surrounds the condo building is a huge draw for condo unit families. It is used to play games, or simply to find a secluded spot to pull up a lawn chair, stare at the ocean, watch the whales, or watch the sunsets. You never felt crowded because of this. The beach directly beside the condo building was one of the most amazing beaches I have visited on Maui. The BBQ area was never busy, and was clean. The laundry facilities were also very clean. One tip I did learn was to do your laundry early in the morning before check-out time (usually 11:00). The cleaners for the units use the dryers after 11:00 and it is sometimes hard to get a dryer from 11:30 - 1:30. The manager of the building is very friendly and helpful. The people that we met at the condo building were all very nice. This location attracts an older crowd. At 9:00 p.m. the place gets very quiet, which was exactly what we were looking for. Not a crowded, loud resort. The owners of this unit are very professional, informed, and helpful to rent from. The information that they provided, and the quick responses they provided were appreciated. We had no issues renting from them. The only downside to this condo (which did not affect our stay at all) - the building is on the older side. Our condo was newly renovated, so this was not an issue. The only negative comment I could give about the pool was that it was small. Having said that, it was always clean, and the warm temperature was appreciated for the night swims. There was some noise from people renovating their condos while we were there. It was only for a couple of days, but something that you might want to keep in mind to check into before you rent. Make sure from the office manager/owners that there are no major renovations going to happen to the building or the adjacent condo units during your stay. It is an older building, so I suspect there could be future renovations. The unit is perfect for 2 ppl.

I loved this condo. There was everything needed for our stay, beautifully decorated and comfortable beds! This is our 2nd time staying at the Kihei Surfside and will return again. Management was excellent on the property. Happy hour next door 3-7pm at the Five Palms was a bonus.

honeymoon in paradise

We spent eight days here for our honeymoon in late August. It's a great little unit - warm, clean, comfortable, and fitted with everything we needed, with an amazing view to rival any big name resort. We enjoyed a home cooked breakfast every day on the lanai, followed by long romantic strolls along Keawakapu or short hikes to Kama'ole Beach Park. At sunset it's even prettier, with tiki lights burning near the pool. The building is well kept, with beautiful flowering trees by the parking lot, and a spacious lawn on the ocean side. The elevator is a bit slow but reliable (there was a kid on a different floor that liked to press all the buttons, but there are stairs if you're in a hurry), the people in the office are super friendly and helpful, and even the laundry room had an amazing view! LOL A rental car is a must, as Kihei isn't exactly central, but Pilani Highway is just a few blocks away, so it's easy to get out and explore. Actually, we enjoyed being in Kihei specifically because it wasn't in the middle of all the big hotel resorts, which seem so glamorous but often are a little too perfect and staged. We visited many of the typical tourist spots but at the end of the day we were grateful to come home to some peace and quiet in a relaxed and naturally beautiful setting. The owners are very conscientious - absolutely phenomenal to work with. And with the unit so reasonably priced, it's no wonder the unit is popular and often booked solid for weeks on end. Thanks David and Sara, for the ideal location for a honeymoon in paradise. We hope to come back soon!

The unit was clean, comfortable and beautifully updated. The view was fantastic and the pool was warm and nice. The grounds are amazing with lots of opportunities for activities. Some guests were flying kites which was fun to watch. The restaurant and lounge right next door was convenient and fun. An overall great stay.

Great time in Maui

This was our second stay at Kihei Surfside (the first time being on our honeymoon). The particular unit we stayed in was newly remodeled and came with all the amenities required to ensure an amazing vacation. It has an amazing view of Maalaea Bay and we even saw a few humpback whales while lounging on our lanai. The Kihei Surfside also provides (at no additional cost) lawn games such as croquet, bocci, and shuffle board. The perfectly manucured lawn is excellent for a game of croquet! Also, the property is situated adjacent to a long sandy beach, which is perfect for that morning jog, walk, etc. We can't wait to bring our kids during our next trip to Maui. Mahalo!

Perfect Condo!

We stayed in this wonderful condo for two weeks this March. The condo has been beautifully remodelled and is fully equipped with all the comforts of home. The kitchen is well stocked and has granite counters and new stainless steel appliances. There is tiling throughout the condo. There is a comfortable king size bed in the bedroom. We appreciated all the extras such as beach chairs, beach towels, snorkel gear and boogie boards. There is a wonderful view from the large kitchen window and off the lanai to watch the whales just outside the condo. The lawn area is perfectly manicured and we enjoyed using the barbecue outside. We appreciated being contacted by the owners before, during and after our stay. They sincerely want you to enjoy your stay in their beautiful home. We would highly recommend this unit to anyone who is interested in a perfect vacation in Kihei. This is the nicest location on Maui!!

Great interior accurately reflected by the photos. The unit was very clean and the furnishings were wonderful. The owners have thought of everything you might use and included it for your use. They also did an excellent job of communication before and after the trip as well as a check up phone call on the first day. The unit is located in a complex with a beautiful lawn. The pool and grills are nicely kept.

What a lovely condo. The owners updated it to perfection and even stocked their condo with everything you could think of from sleeping, cooking to the beach. I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay in this condo. There are amazing views of West Maui and the large grass area with shuffleboard, bocci ball and a putting green were fantastic for our almost 2 year old son.

Everything you could possibly want for a relaxing Hawaiian vacation can be found right here! Very caring owners who strive to make sure their guests are happy. Convenient to beaches, large lawn at the ocean's edge, fantastic views, spotlessly clean unit with updated decor, and fully stocked with every amenity you would need. I love the quiet location and free parking. There is easy access to any highway. You can have the best breakfast on the island with a billion dollar view right next door at The Five Palms. Aloha Sara and David, Thanks so much for the use of your condo, its was just perfect for us! Maui by far is the nicest Island in Hawaii. My wife and I had an awesome time,so much that we are coming back in 2012! Yeah! We really enjoyed one of local water rafting adventures for snorkeling,which is with-in walking distance from the condo as well as many places to eat and book activities. Your kitchen is well stocked for cooking any meal or throw something on the barby outside by the pool. Everything in Maui is almost perfect. If everything was free, then it would be perfect. But we know that's not reality. lol Anyway, thanks so much for your condo which made us feel at home. My wife and I will be coming back for our next vacation to your condo, we have found our home away for home! We will be sure to book early to reserve your condo again! My husband, son, and I stayed for 8 nights. Sara was wonderful to deal with - always quick to respond or to be available by phone. The unit was comfortable and inviting, so was the king-sized bed. The complex is within a mile of convenience stores and restaurants. although there are some restaurants located close by on Keawakapu Beach. We enjoyed eating breakfast on the lanai and watching the boats head out on adventures. Families could let their young kids run on the manicured grounds without concern for their safety. Coffee at 10:00 am allowed folks to get to know each other if they wanted. Tiki torch lighting and conch shell blowing were a daily ritual. Of course, Keawakapu Beach is just a short walk - and it is an amazing beach. You can actually walk it all the way to Wailea Beach. Keep in mind that the trade winds blow for a few hours each afternoon (between 2:00 and 6:00 pm). You may wish to plan other activities during this time. The office and maintenance staff were also helpful. Would I stay here again? You bet!

We loved every minute of our stay! David & Sara you've done a wonderful job updating the condo. It was everything that we needed. The location is great, view is amazing and the nearby beach was one of our favorites. We especially loved sitting on the lanai watching spectacular sunsets! We'll be visiting again!

David and Sara, thank you for sharing your Maui condo with us. We enjoyed our relaxing and comfortable time here. Your unit is wonderful and you did a great job remodeling it. What's not to like - 85 degrees- trade winds blowing - palm trees swaying - the pool and mostly the view. We would definitely come back. Aloha, Gail and Leon.

We loved the location of the Condo. Sitting on the lanai in the morning for coffee and in the evening for Dinner was wonderful, the views spectacular. Easy access to the beach for early morning walks and snorkeling was very convenient. The condo was comfortable and beautifully decorated, we had all we needed to be comfortable in the condo and on the beach. This was one of my favorite vacation spots because it was so peaceful especially in the morning hours, even lounging on the lawn by the ocean or by the pool in the afternoon was never crowded. We had a wonderful experience!

David and Sara, thank you for allowing us to experience Maui in such a fabulous condo. We had the time of our lives on this trip. Throughout the whole trip, we never found as beautiful of a view as from your condo. It is simply breathtaking. What a perfect place to spend our honeymoon. We simply could not have asked for a better trip. We took your advice on eating at Tommy Bahama and ended up eating there twice! Delicious!. We enjoyed the sites, too, biking down the volcano, snorkeling, going on a zipline adventure, riding the rode to Hana and eating yummy food at a luau. We have a cousin interested in coming to Maui and we will definitely recommend ya'lls place. Thanks again, Kimberly and Kyle.

The Perfect Condo for a Romantic Getaway!

We had the most amazing time in your condo. It was so well-equiped with everything in the kitchen to all of your beach needs. We loved the view of the ocean, it really doesn't get much better than that. You almost don't even need to leave the room to enjoy Maui because the views from the lanai are so spectacular. The bed was very comfy and we loved the remodeled kitchen. It was also great having the Mana Kai resort right next door with the restaurant and happy hour specials. You cannot beat the incredible beach just steps away from the condo and the most beautiful sunsets in the world. This condo is perfect for couples and the location is ideal because you are just outside of busy Kihei and very close to some of the most beautiful Wailea beaches!! Thanks again for everything.

Wonderful Maui vacation!

Thank you Sara and David for our enjoyable stay at your Kihea condo. This was Jim's first time to Hawaii and I wanted to make sure it was great, and it was. We loved the view from the lanai, especially the sunsets. We relaxed in the pool on several occasions and laid out catching some rays on the expansive lawn. It was also nice being so close to one of the nicest Maui beaches. The remodel of the condo was nicely done. We enjoyed being able to hook up our ipod and listen to music while relaxing. I've been telling everyone I know that is thinking about a Hawaiian vacation they should stay at your condo. Also thank you for the recommendation to the Warren and Annabell's show in Lahaina. It was one of the best shows we've seen and will go again. Next time we return to Maui it will definately be a longer stay. 8 days is not long enough!

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your condo, one of the best locations on the island... tennis, the beautiful beach (right outside the door) and scrabble on the deck. Turtles nearby and whales jumping in the distnace. Look forward to going back!

Mahalo for the wonderful month we spent at your condo. We loved the oceanfront view from the lanai, and drinking coffee each morning on the lawn, watching the turtles. We saw the dolphins twice too in the afternoons. We enjoyed our walks around the grounds & through the park to the boat launch. It was wonderful having easy access to many great restaurants & shops. We loved having a dishwasher in the condo, and the large flat screen TV - all the amenities were great, including the plantation shutters you just added to the bedroom - a very nice touch. The pool was lovely and the people were very friendly. We have been telling all our friends and family back home about your wonderful place and we look forward to returning soon!

The condo was really really great. It's close to a beach, got a nice big green area, oceanfront & quiet. We even pulled out the pull out in the living room and slept there a few nights. It was very nice waking up to the sound of the ocean. We totally love the place. We've been telling our friends about your great little place and how convenient it is to most amenities. The food was so tasty. We especially loved breakfast (banana & macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup.)

Thank you so much for the opportunity to stay in your home! It is beautiful & we had a lovely time. Your kitchen & bath are gorgeous! I’m in the kitchen design business so I always appreciate a nice new remodel. We had a great time boogie boarding at Big Beach & Little Beach, going to dinner at Fred’s & Gian Don’s & bbq-ing right outside. We look forward to a longer stay here next time. Thanks again!

Aloha Sara and a very big MAHALO. What a fabulous place you have in Kihei. To say that we enjoyed our stay there seems to be not enough. Very comfortable and so many friendly people around there. You have done a tremendous job on the upgrades and the sunset views are truly amazing. All the extras were great....snorkle and fins (although we didn't use your snorkles...we have our own), beach chairs, umbrella and the big towels. We didn't use the boogie boards. Again, thank you for sharing your place with us. I will recomend it to everyone I know and we will stay there again - soon I hope!

We had an absolutely perfect vacation and a big part of that was because of the accomodations! You have the best views from your place that I've seen in awhile. I've been to Maui dozens and dozens of times and this was the best trip yet. I could go on and on about all of the activities and diving we did but that was just a part of the experience. We loved the laid-back nature of the condo, loved the new video and TV combo for a few DVD's that we brought, and we loved just plain sitting on the deck watching the ocean! We cooked and ate out at a few of my favorite local restaurants, both were wonderful. Cooking in your great new kitchen was really fun. Having the option to walk to Sorrento's for cocktails and dinner and to do Brunch at Five Palms are just a couple of things that make your location perfect in my personal Maui guide book. They're right.....location, location, location is important and your place is right there.

Thank you for a wonderful place to stay for our trip to my friend’s wedding! You have worked so hard remodeling the condo and all of the details are so well thought out. We had a great time and look forward to coming back again & again. Love all of the bamboo details, stocked kitchen, sweet TV/sound system and waking up to the view of the ocean & pool each morning. Beyond our friend's wedding down at Makena State Park, we enjoyed numerous trips up to Lahaina, Ka'anapali, to jump off Black Rock & eat at Hula Grill, Lahaina Grill, and drinks at the Sheraton, snorkeling at turtle beach in front of the Maui Prince, a drive up to Thompson Rd, coffee shop in Makawao, Mama’s Fish House, renting surfboards and taking them up the coast (Surf Shack hooked us up with a free car rack rental, nice!) and generally eating, drinking and sunning ourselves. Wish all your visitors the same luck and fun we had (… and $2 tacos and Fred’s (Taco Tuesdays) was a great deal too!...)
