Rainbow Lookout is a two story hideaway with a spectacular wall of glass overlooking lush green pasture all the way down to the ocean cliffs ... sweeping along the coast to Hana ... and back inland up to the 10,000 ft summit of our dormant volcano, Mt Haleakala (House of the Sun). Savor a fragrant cup of Kona coffee and watch the whales ... or enjoy the daily procession of cows, horses and rainbows.
Follow the beautiful art piece spiral staircase up to the bedroom. Laze in the king bed and enjoy the spectacular sun and moonrises over the ocean, or star gaze thru the lovely skylight right over the bed. Be soothed to sleep in the evenings by our trade winds, or the trickle of waterfalls in our spectacular tropical gardens.
Privacy is yours, including your own hot tub on one of two lanais ... enjoy our unique "aquarium" outdoor shower ... or our gorgeous cobalt blue tiled double shower/bath indoors.
Buy some of our famous local fish and prepare a romantic dinner a deux ... you have your own barbecue ... Laze away a day by the palm fringed 44' swimming pool ... or wander our exotic fruit orchards to pick fruit for breakfast - passionfruit (lilikoi), papayas, bananas ... We also have fresh eggs, and an organic herb & veggie garden which you're welcome to enjoy. Huelo Pt Lookout has been organic since 1992.
Hosts Jeff & Sharyn live on the property and are happy to advise you on where to go/ what to do ... their favorite local restaurants and beaches, unique hiking trails ...though be warned, you may love staying here so much you may never go anywhere at all!

Why the Owner Chose Haiku
We'd always dreamed of living somewhere "tropical" - Sharyn especially, as she's used to a LOT of sunshine. San Francisco is gorgeous, but not warm enough. So: here we are! We love Hawaii, but wanted something a little more remote from development. When we found these 2 acres on Huelo Point, always cooled by trade winds, we didn't think twice about saying "yes!" An organic, sustainable lifestyle has always appealed to us, so this 2 acres seemed perfect.

North shore Maui is the "real" Maui - far enough from tourist crowds so that you really feel you're experiencing Hawaii's natural beauty, the stuff of dreams - yet close enough to civilization that you can jump in the car and be in a world class restaurant in 20 minutes. Our towns on the north shore have a "small" feel, so you really feel like you've gone back in time about 20 years or so. Also, our property is organic and sustainable - another passion of ours - so we feel we're "giving something back". We were "green" before it was fashionable. We grow our own fruit, veggies and we even have fresh eggs. People have told us that they want to keep coming back again and again, because they are refreshed and rejuvenated just by staying in this beautiful place.

We've lived in Maui since 1992. Jeff, had a busy dental practice in San Francisco for 20 years, and Sharyn was an actress/radio announcer/ speech therapist in Australia. Hawaii was pretty well "half way" - so that's where we ended up! Jeff is actively pursuing his hypnosis training and developing a new workshop series for re-programming the sub-conscious mind. (In San Francisco he specialized in treating phobic patients, through hypnosis). Sharyn is writing a "one woman show" of theatrical monologues - hopefully to be completed very soon. We're also busy developing our 2 beautiful acres as an "edible garden", using organic (permaculture) principles and we actively host young people who come to learn organic techniques for sustainability. Last but not least is our young son, Kai Nalu ("Ocean Wave" in Hawaiian). After many years home schooling, he's now attending the local middle school, Kalama, and is in Grade 7. His current passion is WOW (an online computer game, for the uninitiated).
