  We have been here two days now and I just HAD to write an early review. First, when you rent this house, you will deal with the man who owns it, Derrick. The house is the best deal out here. There are houses surrounding this one that are not as nice; that are rentals through the various rental management companies and cost double the price. The house is extremely clean and cold and comfortable. We brought our dogs and the house is a perfect accomodation for your pets! I would recommend if you don't like the short walk to the beach, to bring a golf cart. Definately bring a wagon to carry your beach chairs and umbrellas etc.. What I really love is that the house is just far enough from the sand that it is private, but close enough to get there with minimal effort. The ice cream truck comes by twice per day for the kids. We have had the air conditioner on 70 and it is chilly cool inside. The back balcony is so nice and the chairs are very comfortable. We have eaten several meals out there, and it is shady and breezy and nice. Bring mosquito repellant or a citronella candle because the mosquitoes are abundant and mammoth sized. There is a bog next door, which is kinda cool because there are some really pretty lillypads and other water plants that are nice to look at. We leave our beach set-up overnight. We tie the chairs all together and so far they have not been tampered with. The beach out here is less crowded!! We love Ft. morgan for this reason!! There is an outdoor shower below the house and a table/chairs. There is also enough space to park two large vehicles underneath. There are several vacant lots in front of this house, and we LOVE that (more privacy). We are very happy with this house!! FROM THE DANIELS AND THE CRAWLEY FAMILIES WE THANK YOU!!!

  This was our first vacation home rental. We chose the Seahorse because of all of the good reviews. We were very pleased that the pictures, descriptions and reviews were accurate representations. All appliances worked great and more importantly, the house was clean and comfortable. We really appreciated being allowed to bring our dogs. The drive from Wisconsin was an easy 1,000 miles and the Seahorse allowed us to relax once we got to Alabama. We enjoyed the 4 block walk to the beach. We walked the beach every day and met great people, however, it was never crowded. Definitely take a dolphin cruise and check out the state parks, fort and wildlife refuge. Our only suggestion would be to fix the patio door/screen so that it closes completely to help eleviate biting insects from getting into the house. Thanks for letting us enjoy your house.

  The Seahorse was beautifully furnished, very comfortable, impeccably clean....exactly as promised! Derrik, the owner of the property, was very accommodating, provided great information about the house and area. We highly recommend a stay at The Seahorse!

  Loved staying at The Seahorse! We have stayed at a lot of beach houses in our 31 years of marriage. This one was PERFECT for all of the grandkids, kids and us. Very comfortable and as described by the owner. There was plenty of room inside and lots of room underneath the house for the kids to play. The breeze under the house was very nice too. It was a short walk to the beach. With 5 grandkids we just loaded up the back of the truck and drove down (maybe a 2 minute ride), unloaded and parked down by the beach. If you like to sit outside at night make sure you bring a really good bug spray. The mosquito's are killer this year. We will definatly be staying here again :):)

  Listing description most accurate with the exception of the water/lagoon beside the house. The listing photos were on POINT without a doubt. Few minor issues with upkeep (ex. towel racks broken, one room ceiling fan not working except for low). Nothing major and Owner noted issues and even offered to come and correct immediately, We declined since minor issues, reported for other renters. The OWNER was EXCELLENT with the entire process from beginning, while there, and after! I would suggest future renters to bring plenty of bug spray! (perhaps due to the water next to the house). As far as activites, the BEACH WAS ASESOME THIS YEAR. best in 40 YEARS, beautiful clear, blue, green water. We always frequent the Pink Pony Pub in town. (there is parasailing, jet ski rentals, etc) The Pines was good to run down and grab a bite in the evening. Seriously suggest renting a kayak, everyone enjoyed this all week! However, just being by the beautiful ocean is all I NEEDED to relax and enjoy! I would recommend this property to ANYONE! Thanks for an awesome vacation and another year under the belt @ Gulf Shores!

  Owner response: I am glad you enjoyed your stay. The wetlands next to our beach house are yet another great feature. The water lilies are absolutely beautiful as evidenced by the picture on our site. The bathroom towel rack has been repaired. We are checking on the guest bedroom ceiling fan to be sure that it will rotate on high speed and not just low speed. Thanks again.

  We had a fantastic vacation at the Seahorse! We only went for 4 days since this was the first time we rented a beach house and took our miniature schnauzer. The house was great - and the living room was very comfortable for "hanging out" after the days on the beach. My husband and I especially loved the deck and comfortable breeze at night. The kids have already asked to go for a week next year :-) The house was perfect for us and the owner was great to work with. I never had to worry about where we were in the process or what to expect. The kids have never seen so many stars - and it will always be the place our son started the grill on his own and shaved for the first time! :-) Oh, and check the drawers for remotes and games. We didn't find them 'til we were leaving.

  I highly recommend renting from Beach and Lake Rentals.com. Derrick (and his dad) were so nice and easy to work with. The Seahorse is clean, comfortable, homey, and just moments from the beach. It is located in a quiet community about 15 min from Gulf Shores proper and 15 min from the historic Fort Morgan (as in "the" Fort Morgan). Make sure you drive out to the Fort...very cool! Take a picnic and say HEY to Jan in the gift shop. You can take your pooches along too. :) Don't pass up pizza (and oysters) at Papa Roccos on 59 while you are in town - and ease on down to the Florabama for some tunes.
