Whether it be a romantic getaway for two or summer fun with family, wonderful memories will be made here. Spend your days basking in the sun on the dock, water-ski, fish, cruise the lake, visit the famous Mars Waterbombers, travel to beautiful Long Beach for a daytrip, hike Mt. Arrowsmith, or sit back and read a relaxing novel in the cool shade of the fully mature coniferous trees on the beach. Whatever you want your vacation to be, you can have it here!
The private beach access includes 90' of pebbled waterfront, a large swimming area, wharfs and a boat house. The lake house is a 2500 square foot home of unique craftsmanship. There is lots of room to socialize including a 400' deck with spectacular views of the lake and Mt. Arrowsmith. Affectionately coined "Ruttan's Roost" by our late father, architect and designer, the lake house is a unique design which is bound to impress (i.e., no where else can you find a tree for stairs)!

The Unique Benefits of this House
This vacation rental is great any time of year. Not only are the summers incredible with the swimming and water sports but the fall, winter and spring are beautiful with their colours and unique weather patterns. Curling up by the wood stove in the winter, drinking hot cocoa and watching a DVD, is as inviting as lying in the hammock on the beach in the heat of the summer. The home is very private and quiet. Canoe rides in the morning with the Loons calling can't be beat!

Superb Lake House

This is a superb property that shines with pride of ownership. The photos and description are accurate, and if anything the Lake House is better in person. My family and our friends arrived to find the house very clean, and well-stocked with towels, linen, etc. The house has lots of character and space to spread out. Highlights include the beautiful stone fireplace, the bbq patio overlooking the lake, and the waterfront beach and dock. We stayed here in September and the lake was still warm enough to swim in. This location is perfect for those looking for a quiet getaway, yet is only a 15 min drive from Port Alberni's shops. All in all a great place that we highly recommend. We would definitely return.

What a wonderful experience. Beautiful home and surrounding area. The house is so well equiped with everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed the weekend with our family, and even though the weather wasn't warm, our grandchildren couldn't resist the lake. Lots of fishing,canoeing and family time. This is the perfect place to relax. Thanks so much for sharing it with us. We will return again.

We enjoyed a three-generation getaway perched on the most beautiful lake we know. There were nooks and crannies everywhere for bodies to sleep and play in, plus a large living room to accommodate lots of conversation. Everything was provided, we just had to bring food. It was great.

This was a fantastic get-away. An easy drive but it felt like we were a universe away from all the bustle of our busy lives. We stayed in the cabin with our Mom from California one sunny weekend. What a surprise as this was no cabin but a beautiful home with so much room for other family members to stay and enjoy. My son and his wife and family have booked for a week in Aug. 2010. We just might surprise them and...... To be continued.....

Amaaaaazing! We haven't had a relaxing and restful experience like that in a long time. The setting is perfect (spectacular), the recreation opportunities plentiful,the accomodation outstanding, and the owners gracious. This is a home away from home the way you want it. The full kitchen and laundry are a couple of the amenities that allow you to hole up and enjoy whatever level of seclusion you choose or to use as a home base for any variety of nearby adventures. We've been back a few times and plan to return again.

We had a wonderful stay here for our family reunion. The setting is beautiful and the dock area and lake were perfect for our group, which included little kids up to adults. The house accommodated our group and we felt very comfortable. We enjoyed it so much, we booked it again for the next reunion.

The house and property is extraordinary. Comfortable, relaxing and inviting, the house has tons of room. Loved the beach and the opportunity to simply get away with a delightful canoe ride on the lake. The views are spectacular! Will be back!.
