1925 M&D's Vintage Oaks Cottage in Mount Dora
Year Purchased: 2006
Why the Owner Chose Mount Dora
Mount Dora is very special to us. We wanted to do something different for our wedding and were married at the Historic Lakeside Inn in Mount Dora. We fell in love with the town and oak trees. So, we bought & renovated a 1925 cottage in 2006 and wanted to share the charm of Mount Dora with family, friends, and people we haven't met yet. Mount Dora has often been called the "New England" of the South. Come in & make yourself at home. We really hope you enjoy your stay.
Owner's Map of Mount Dora
My husband, Dana & I were married at the Lakeside Inn at Mount Dora in Feb 2003. He was recalled to active duty (US Coast Guard) and he was able to get a weekend pass to get married!
Dana & I reside in Stuart, FL which is about 2.5 hours from Mount Dora. We have a large dog named Duncan. Everyone loves Duncan, and we try to take him on vacations.
I have a background in Marine Biology and have worked for the Palm Beach County Solid Waste Authority for almost 20 years (time really flies!). I work in Environmental Programs. I also get to monitor a wading bird colony on our property which has Snail Kites & Wood Storks.
Dana works for Dept of Environmental Protection Division of Law Enforcement. He is also in the Coast Guard Reserves. We are huge NASCAR, Indy-car & formula One fans (basically, Dana will watch anything that races). Top Gear is our favorite TV show. We are acitve in auto-xing, pistol shooting, and now kickball.
We really hope you come & stay at our home. We look forward to meeting you!

My husband and I spent a long weekend at this delightful cottage. It was a great relaxing escape from our stressful jobs. It was a celebration of our 35 years of marraige; sipping wine and reading books on the front porch. We had a wonderful surprise on Sunday when our son came up with his girlfriend of almost 2 years. We had a great lunch out and then came back to the cottage. My husband and I were inside and the young couple were out in the front yard. My husband told me to look out the window and I saw them hugging and kissing with tears of joy. I knew what was going on. Alex had just proposed to Liz with the beautiful diamond now on her finger. So this little cottage is allways going to have a special place in my heart.
