Accommodations: Log Home, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8-12)
Our home is nestled between Birch Mountain and the winding Ottaquechee River. It offers a perfect balance between nature and modern convenience.
Only a short walk to a number of natural beaver lodges, and located in an area known for moose sightings, our home welcomes you with an authentic brush of nature Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.
Do not let the rich natural surroundings and native wildlife deceive you; there is much to do and see in the surrounding areas: we are located only 3 minutes from Killington's Skyship Gondola, 8 minutes from Pico, 15 minutes from Woodstock, and 20 minutes from Rutland or Okemo. Your possibilities are limitless: be it skiing, hiking, watching a movie, attending a concert, golfing, dining out, Beaver Lodge offers you a location with prime access to entertainment and recreation.
A bit of a homebody? No problem. There is still plenty to do: fish the many rivers and lakes in the vicinity (we angled a 20 lb. trout in front of the house), hike the hundreds of wooded acres behind the property, enjoy a bonfire, relax with a few lawn or board games located in our game chest, or simply chill, grill, and breath in the stress-free air on the covered porch. In our basement entertainment center, watch DVD or play video games on the 50 inch big screen TV, play pool, foosball, darts or cards.
The home has more than 2,000 square feet of living space on the first two floors and another 1000 square feet in the entertainment center. The interior design offers an open, spacious, yet intimate, homey feel. Our modern kitchen flows into a warm dining space, and drifts into the spacious great room, perfect for conversation and relaxation. The pine-log construction, hardwood floors and dimmed lighting create an inviting, rustic ambiance reminiscent of the logger’s cabins that rested on the plot in the past. When the day darkens and cools, take advantage of our wood burning fireplace. Bask in the natural warmth and aromas of fresh pine, and let yourself plunge into the gentle, alluring simplicity of a well-stoked fire.
Enjoy our cozy accommodation: four leather recliners, an authentic birch rocker two six-foot pillow chairs and a double pillow sleeper. Listen to the stereo, or enjoy Direct TV on our 40 inch flat panel. Take advantage of our music and video libraries to create your perfect atmosphere.
If you are looking for privacy, retire to the loft, the second story bedroom or the private second-story chalet balcony. Chat in the Adirondack chairs, read in an oaken rocker, unwind in the massaging jets of the second-story tub or just melt into the soft queen-sized bed.
If you really can’t get away from it all, no worries. Our wireless-satellite internet keeps you connected and Verizon Wireless receives four bars on our site.
Our home is friendly and functional. We located the mudroom away from all the activity, tucked into the walk out basement along with the washer, dryer and a wall mounted ironing board. We placed the cloths draws under beds and put closets in each bedroom so that nothing interferes with your enjoyment, and comfort on the two main floors.
We hope you stay with us. You will find the atmosphere intoxicating, you won’t want to leave, so please visit again.
Cheers, Ed and Linda

From Our Guest Book: My family and I had a fantastic time here. The house was everything we hoped it would be. My girls (7-8) had a ball with the giant pillows and bear... Our first ski trip together... first ski injury... first ski related tears... first magic ski- memories ( 7 year old skiing Snowshed by herself!). Thank you for opening up your home and making that possible. PS Meg loves the bear!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My wife and stayed at your home for 9 nites. It was the first time at your home and it was wonderful, anything you could possibly want is there and the place is gorgeous. My 2 sisters came up for a few days and they too thouroughly enjoyed it there.Ed is a real good guy to deal with and a true family man.We brought 15 in. of snow to the mountains as we usually do and they opened the lifts over that weekend.Once again I would recomend this home to stay at for all times of the year. Thanks Ed and Linda. About the owner: Linda and I (Ed) and our 4 boys have been visiting the Killington area, winter, spring, summer and fall since 1991. Vermont is a terrific complement to our lives on Long Island NY… mountains instead of beaches, cool breezes instead of the warm winds of the Atlantic, wide open and unexplored spaces instead of the cosmopolitan kaleidoscope of people and places. Each of us have only terrific memories and experiences in Vermont, skiing, tubing, swimming, hiking, biking, collecting, chatting… the list goes on… maybe that is why we love Vermont so much… so much to do… so much to experience. Our sons are now 19-27 and beginning to build lives of their own. Linda and I finally decided to take the plunge and create a spot where regardless of where the future may take our sons they have a place to return to that guarantees them some relaxation and fun. In 2008, we bought our dream site and built a log home for our family to enjoy year round. We stay here so the home is equipped for the owner (us) to live in. When we are not here we share our home with family, friends and individuals like yourself who find the Vermont experience as rewarding as we do. Come stay with us… return… maybe become a neighbor…
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Secluded two acres on the Ottaquechee River. Close to everything - Woodstock, Rutland and of course Killington and Pico - only a 3 minute drive to the Killington Skyship on RT4. In the summer tube from in front of the home to the Long Trail Brewery - 5 miles away, swim or golf at the many terrific courses. In Autumn walk the literally hundreds of acres behind the home and check out the magnificent foliage – sugar maple – white birch black locust. In Spring catalogue the hundreds of wildflowers growing in the gardens on the property, build a bonfire in our fire pit and wait for the Moose. Our unique home has all the modern comforts yet is reminiscent of an earlier simpler time. Real log construction keeps you warm in the winter and cooler in the summer through the natural process of radial heating. Relax with friends in the great room with a real wood fireplace or sit quietly, read and observe the goings on below form the loft. The covered deck is perfect to observe the wildlife or grill in any season and if you want more privacy the 2nd floor balcony and master bedroom will definitely do the trick. The home has all wood floors and is practical yet elegant. It is fully furnished and outfitted and can easily accommodate a large group (we are a family of 6 and if everyone brings a friend that will make it 12 – no problem. We follow the National Park Service rules: “Cary In – Carry Out – Leave Only Footprints”
