Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA (We are in the Village of Los Ranchos in Albuquerque, NM.)
Accommodations: Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Other (See Description), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-6)
Keywords: Guest House in quiet country neighborhood
This cottage is the guest house on our 1 acre farm in the Rio Grande Valley of Albuquerque. We are nestled in the prestigious, green and rural Village of Los Ranchos within the Albuquerque area, where most properties are equestrian or farms. We are close to miles of Rio Grande River canal walks and the "Bosque" with opportunities for nature walks and bicycling, or even horse-back trail rides.
Our guest house is nestled in a romantic setting with lots of trees and farm land around it. And yet, you are only 10 minutes from the nearest mall for shopping, movies and restaurants, or less than 20 minutes from gambling at the beautiful Sandia Casino - this cottage feels it is away, but it is yet so close to everything.
Once inside, the walls are all adobe for pleasing cool temperatures during summer, keeping the heat inside in the wintertime. There is a sunroom facing south for passive solar comfort. It features a twin-sized day bed with a pop-up trundle that can be used as two separate twin beds or put together for a larger king sized bed, well as charming pellet stove, reading library and desk. The main house boasts an 18 foot cathedral beamed wooden ceiling with skylights, a comfortable couch that converts to a full sized bed, breakfast table, full kitchen, and bathroom with assorted organic/luxury soaps and shower.
A circular staircase leads you upstairs to the loft with a queen bed with a view of the mountains, privacy curtains and places to hang your clothing after a long day in the Bosque. Enjoy a restful night with down-filled pillows and duvet and wake up to the sun rising from behind the Sandia Mountains.
The guest house property also includes an enclosed small private yard with an adjacent fenced 0.5 acre alfalfa field. As our guests you will also have access to our outdoor hot tub, pool and gas grill.
Pets are welcome for a small additional deposit.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2010
After years of moving up and down the east coast for my medical training, my husband Mark and I decided to move to Albuquerque to finally settle down. Albuquerque is an amazing place - it feels both old and new, and hosts a wonderful diversity of residents (both the human and non-human kind!). We have fallen in love with the sight of the mountains and rising hot-air balloons from our kitchen window and we enjoy taking walks along the nearby irrigation ditches that have supplied water to local farms for generations. We feel extremely fortunate to live here and have space to allow guests to discover the magic of the area on their own.
Why the Owner Chose Albuquerque
This guest house rests on the land of our main property in Los Ranchos, New Mexico. It is unique in that it allows guests total privacy, with a separate drive, entrance and unobstructed view of the mountains, while it is also close enough to the main house to enable us to be available for any questions or special requests that guests may have.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
For each party that arrives at our guest house we will provide a selection of goodies to keep you though your first night and morning, including wine (specify if you would prefer a non-alcoholic alternative), coffee, tea, snacks and something for your sweet tooth.

What a wonderful place to stay!

My wife and I recently spent a week in this delightful cottage with our dog Buddy and this was just what we were looking for—a nice quiet place with plenty of room, in a great location. The cottage is a mixture of cottage and New Mexico casita, being rustic and natural, yet up-to-date. It really had a New Mexico feel to it, and its location in a very historical part of the city with easy access to main roads, added a lot to our stay. Sara, Mark, and Ellie were delightful hosts who gave us plenty of privacy, but were there when we needed them. We could not have asked for more from them. If you are looking for 5-star hotel accommodations like the Ritz, this is not for you. But, if you want a very comfortable, traditional, quiet, and clean place to stay that has wonderful energy about it and character galore, then book it now. You won’t be sorry. We will definitely be back and will recommend it to all our friends.

My wife, 15 month old daughter, dog and myself stayed at this adorable Casita that is 1 mile from the Bosque, 10 minutes from downtown and a few minutes from everything you need. We had a great retreat. The hosts were warm and considerate. From giving us tips on good places to eat or museums to visit with our little one or providing a great welcoming basket, we felt very much at home. We arrived at 11 pm and I was very happy to see some milk and coffee in the fridge for the AM. And we enjoyed a glass of wine and some brownies courtesy of our hosts too. We used the hot tub every day. Although the Casita is on the main property, it is set among various horse farms and sitting on the porch watching the sun rise, one feels alone and isolated from much of the world. We had a great yard to let our dauther wander and play, while we spent time inside or on the porch. This is a great place to stay and seemed like a great value. We hope to return! Thanks for a great stay!

My daugther and I met here during her spring break. It was just perfect for us and our 4 little dogs. They had this wonderful area to run and play and we had the most wonderful hosts with their daughter Elenore to help us out. The cottage was just the perfect size and in a wonderful location, in the city but out of the frenzies of traffic and conjestion. It was an easy commute to any sightseeing and activities that we wanted to explore. The views are fantastic as was the night time skys. We saw stars and mountains, not buildings and freeways. That's alway a plus for my daughter considering she lives in Houston. We intend to stay again if this is our destination. Our only suggestion is that for older adults the spiral stairs would have to be considered challenging, although we did not have a problem, but some may. There is enough sleeping area on the lower level to adjust and I do know that our hosts would help make your stay the best. We thank, Mark, Sara and Elenore for everything.
