Why the Owner Chose Martinique on the Gulf

We chose this property for retirement. It borders the Bon Secour refuge and offers privacy as well as a lot of benefits the development offers. Pool, Exercise facility, Sauna, but mainly the beach.

The Unique Benefits of this House

The serenade that you get from the wildlife refuge and of course the beautiful beach.

The Perfect Vacation Spot

Guest: Connie and Ben (Portland, TN)
Date of Stay: 09/10/11 Review Submitted: 09/18/11

Amy, thanks for a wonderful week. The house was just as great as it appeared on your listing. It was perfect for our large family with plenty of room for all of us. We really enjoyed the atmosphere of Martinique. There were mostly families with young children, and our grandchildren especially enjoyed playing with them in the pool. After getting hot on the beach, it was wonderful to rinse off and get in the pool. One day trip that we would highly recommend is the Naval Air Museum. It was an easy drive there, and besides the exhibits for adults, they had a great play area for small children. I appreciated your prompt responses to my questions. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

BEAUTIFUL VACATION HOME

Guest: Nonny (Belleville, IL)
Date of Stay: 08/06/11 Review Submitted: 08/29/11

Our family of 8 enjoyed Avalon in early August. The golf cart was more than useful to haul all of the clan and gear around the grounds. IT WAS GREAT NOT TO HAVE TO BRING BEACH TOWELS and even nicer to have washer and dryer to launder them! I especially enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the late afternoon or when a storm was approaching. Even tho it was in the high 90's, there was always a breeze on the porch. Our 9 year-old grandson really enjoyed Alligator Alley and actually got to hold a small alligator. We utilized the 2 beautiful pools every day. The pools were never overcrowded and it was neat to have a a pool that was partly covered for those that are sun sensitive. We also utilized the tennis court (hint) if you haven't played for a few years-hold off till the end of your vacation-so your out-of-shape arms & legs can carry you thru. My only concern with Avalon is the closet-like beds off the 2nd bedroom upstairs. Don't think anyone over 8 years old could fit in there. OVERALL-thanks to Amy for sharing and giving our family and wonderful time together!

Family Good Times!

Guest: --- (Birmingham, Alabama)
Date of Stay: 06/25/11 Review Submitted: 07/07/11

Dear Amy, Our family had one of our best vacations ever in your home in Martinique! Although we didn’t stay in the house much, (except to sleep) you provided everything we would ever need. We were mostly on the beach, pool, out fishing in Jim’s boat, (the guys caught several 30+ pound fish - catch and release, but we have great pictures) and at Doc’s Seafood (the original). Adored the bright green tree frogs! We even brought karaoke entertainment. Having the golf cart was a wonderful touch and all 5 grandchildren brought their bikes, so we had plenty of ways to get to the beach and pool. We had our family picture made on this vacation and I’ll mail you one when I have them printed. Our tradition for family vacations is to alternate even and odd years. Odd years at the beach and even years in the mountains. So 2012 is a mountain year. But the following year, we would be very interested in renting your home again. It is so comfortable and livable and perfect for our size family. Thanks very much for sharing your wonderful home with us! Audrey Ann Wilson Birmingham, AL

Amy was fabulous to work with. The house is even more beautiful than described if that is possible. We have stayed in this community for the last several years and always find it peaceful which is why we keep coming back. I would be happy to recommend this property to anyone who loves the gulf. Thanks for everything Amy!

Awesome!

Everything about this rental was near perfect. First of all the description on VRBO was accurate. Amy was great to work with. We had never been to the Gulf Shores area, but it could not have worked out any better. The Martinique community is one of the nicer areas at Fort Morgan/Gulf Shores and the beach is beautiful. It is far enough from the tourist traps that you don't feel a part of that, but you're close enough to drop into "town" to spend a day as we did. The home was beyond our expectations. All the rooms are comfy and the right size, almost spacious. The furnishings and linens are all top quality. The owners provide every possible kitchen utensil and appliance you can imagine. The garage is stocked with beach items and toys. The golf cart made the 1/4 mile distance to the beach no problem at all. The swimming pools are both big enough and nice enough that we never felt crowded or uncomfortable, but who needs the pool when you have one of the nicest beaches this side of Hawaii. If it all sounds too good to be true then I am sorry, because it really was that nice and there is no way you will get better rates at any beach resort that I have been to. Thanks again Amy and VRBO.

Beautiful Peaceful Avalon

Amy was wonderful to work with and the house was absolutely beautiful! We had such a wonderful time and we will definately be back. The property was so peaceful and beautiful. The grounds you could definately tell work had went into it and they had kept it up wonderfully. My family ranged from ages 3 to 45 and everyone had a wonderful time and bragged about how beautiful the house and community was. Could not have asked for a better vacation or vacation spot. Thank you Amy for everything.

Wonderful time

Guest: Nini (Hattiesburg, Mississippi)
Date of Stay: 08/01/10 Review Submitted: 08/30/10

My family had a wonderful time at Avalon. We ranged in age from 2 to 91. My mother enjoyed the downstairs bedroom and bath just off the kitchen, and the rest of us, including three grandchildren (6,4,2) had plenty of room upstairs. There were 9 of us in all, but we were never crowded. The kitchen was fully stocked, and the golf cart provided not only transportation to and from the beach and pools but also entertainment for the grandchildren as we drove around near dusk looking at the bunnies as they sat and nibbled on the grass near the center club area. The beach was in good shape, and we were fascinated by the blue crabs we saw each morning. Most of the time we stayed in at night and cooked. There was so much to do and see at Martinique that we did not want to leave the secluded area and fight the crowds in town. We did eat out late in the week at Lulu's, but it was so hot and crowded that we wished we had stayed at the house and enjoyed the evening there. None of us were ready to leave and come back to the real world of work and school when our week ended. Thank you, Amy, for being so kind and helpful. We hope to be back next year!

Fabulous home!

Guest: Sue (Texas)
Date of Stay: 06/27/10 Review Submitted: 07/04/10

We went with our teen-age sons and a few of their friends. Everyone had such a wonderful time! The house has everything that you could possibly need to have a terrific vacation and not even leave the house. I brought my salad spinner and didn't need it. The beds are very comfortable, we loved the porches for just relaxing. The BP crews were on the beach and cleaning up while we were there. It's not as pristine as it used to be (we usually stay at the Beach Club just next door), but the oil has not rendered it unuseable. Other than a few days with bad weather (hurricane Alex was in the gulf down south so we had lots of rain) we were able to spend our time on the beautiful Martinique beach to swim in the ocean and read and just relax. The kids loved the beach and the pools and they brought their playstations and rented some movies at the store to entertain themselves on the rainy days. We had a few questions while we were there and Amy was easily available and was able to answer them quickly. We love staying in Fort Morgan because it's far away from the crowds and all of the condos. We prefer to take a drive into town rather than stay with the masses. We will definitely be back next year.

Wonderful Vacation

Guest: Melenie (St. Louis, Missouri)
Date of Stay: 03/21/10 Review Submitted: 03/29/10

Our family had a wonderful spring break vacation in this home. We had all the special touches of home. We will come back year after year. The home was so comfortable with great beds, plenty of room, beautifully decorated and plenty of space for the kids to unwind. We had towels and beach chairs that other homes did not provide. Our friends noticed all the extras that came with this home. The kids loved riding in the golf cart, pools are fantastic and the beach seemed so private and lovely. We came home refreshed. Thanks Stephen and Amy. We will be back next year.
