Perfect!

Can't gush enough about this place! Being a Pat Conroy fanatic, my husband and I had to walk the streets he writes so passionately about in all his books and experience the lowcountry for ourselves and this loft was the perfect setting for doing so. After a day of exploring, it had all the amenities of home and then some. Loved it that Kit had put together a notebook of tourist info and we took advantage of the walking tour and several of the restaurants. Her choice of magazines were my favorites and even the most current issues. Great location! We were able to walk everywhere in Charleston so parked the car on East Bay until we needed it for excursions to Beaufort and the Ashley River plantations. All in all, a lovely loft and we will definitely be back!

This loft space is everything that is advertised and then some!! Within walking distance to all points of interest downtown. Close to shopping, dining and everything in between. My girlfriend and I were looking for something romantic for our stay in Charleston, this loft space fits the bill perfectly! Top floor of the building, easy access from the street. Private porch space overlooking the courtyard is spectacular. We will book this unit again!

My wife and I stayed here for our Honeymoon, arriving on the 8th and leaving on the 14th. It was an amazing time and the perfect place to base yourself from to see all Charleston has to offer. First the room. Impeccably cleaned and appointed with everything you would possibly need. Cozy bed and furniture and the shower is awesome after a long day of sightseeing! Second, the location. for thiose not familiar with Charleston, Broad Street is the banking district and gallery row. Perfect place to be near all the sights and sounds, without all the revelers passing by your window at 3 a.m. Just head a couple blocks north on Church and you are at the Market and shopping or head a couple of blocks North on East Bay and you are in the heart of the restaurant and bar district. Perfectly situated for a morning stroll through Charleston's oldest neighborhoods and the Battery every morning. There is a great book of ideas, things to do and places to see thoughtfully placed in the room as well. all in all everything we could ask for and more and we will definetly be coming back for years to come.

Fantastic Location

Guest: Amy (KY)
Date of Stay: 03/25/12 Review Submitted: 04/26/12

This loft on Broad St. was perfect for our couple's vacation. It was quiet, yet the location was ideal and within walking distance to the Market, amazing restaurants, King Street shopping and The Battery, where you can park for free. The bed was more comfortable than home and the amenities (like the stovetop, microwave and mini fridge) ensured we had everything we needed. I wish we'd spent more time on the deck, but we were too busy exploring the city...including on the two bikes provided. Kit, the owner, has an office on-site and we saw her frequently. She's extremely friendly and knowledgable about the area and even allowed us to use her personal kayaks at the end of our four-night stay. Stay here...and be sure to eat at Poogan's Porch and Basil Thai Restaurant.

This loft was absolutely beautiful! It was perfectly located at the "edge" of the residential area, so it was WELL within walking distance of everything...we parked the car when we arrived and didn't get back in until we left town. The room is SO pretty, and impeccably clean - even my husband noticed how nice it smelled when we walked in, which is certainly saying something! There is a pub down the street that got a little rowdy on St. Patty's day (during our stay,) but it didn't bother us too much. All in all, it completely met and surpassed our expectations and we will certainly keep it tops on our list of options for next time we visit!

Loft apartment and studio

Date of Stay: 12/24/11 Review Submitted: 12/28/11

We stayed in the loft apartment over the Christmas holiday. When I e-mailed Kit, I expressed to her that this would be the first time in 40 years that we had not been at home on Christmas morning, without a totally decorated house to wake up to. Imagine my surprise when we walked in, and there was a perfect little live tree, adorned with lights and ornaments. We placed all our packages under it, and had a lovely Christmas morning before going to be with our son and his family for the day. Kit certainly went above and beyond to make it special for us. We did have so much to carry in, and the stairs did present a challenge, but once everything was unloaded and unpacked, we enjoyed everything. The ambiance was wonderful, comfortable chairs, great reading light, and the bed was the best, comfortable with beautiful linens as well. The kitchen is small, but totally adequate, every thing we needed was there. We brought a bottomless picnic basket filled with goodies so we were quite content.Great shower in the bathroom, along with fancy soaps and shampoos, fluffy towels, etc.The weather was ideal, and we took advantage of the outside terrace several times. The heater was a bonus. My husband rode the bike both mornings, and enjoyed Charleston streets not being busy at Christmas time. We are familiar with Charleston, and the location could not be any better, Again, due to the holiday, we had no trouble with on street parking. Had a space in front the entire time. Kit was very helpful with any questions that I had. Got answers promptly. We had a slight malfunction with the TV upon arrival, and even though she was out of town, between the two of us, we got it resolved. Several of our friends stopped by, and were very impressed with the surroundings. Said it would make a nice getaway, even though they live in the area, My husband and I were very pleased with our entire stay, and would gladly reccomend it to future visitors. Hopefully, we will be back as well. Thanks again Kit.

Our experience in downtown Charleston in this beautiful modern/updated apartment that was so comfortable and welcoming at the end of the day was absolutely incredible. It was so easy walking everywhere we wanted to go, less than 5 minutes to the Old Slave Market. Many restaurants, cafes, bars, etc. We enjoyed so much that we will return on a regular basis.

My husband and I stayed at the loft the last week of our 2 1/2 weeks in Charleston. We absolutely loved the convenient location - great walking areas, eateries, galleries, etc. We used the bikes a couple of days as well which made exploring further easier - be warned however, going over the bridge to Mt Pleasant on a single speed bike is a bit challenging :). Kit really has thought of all the little touches to make the stay comfortable. Everyone was also very helpful and friendly. Danny in the gallery was great helping with directions and questions. We loved the little French restaurant west on Broad (G & M). Had breakfast, lunch & dinner there during the week. Thursday fondue was wonderful. We loved Charleston and the studio and hope to have a repeat trip in the future!

GREAT LOFT!

Date of Stay: 08/19/11 Review Submitted: 08/24/11

This is a great rental! We've stayed in a lot of nice, expensive hotels and inns in Charleston and this is by far the nicest place to stay in town! We loved how convenient it was to all the nice restaurants, attractions and nightlife. And yet, it's tucked away in an area of downtown with a strict noice ordinance in place so that your stay is quiet and safe. The owner has thought of everything you could possibly need - well stocked kitchen and bath, bikes, beach chairs, umbrella, cooler & towels, and lots of helpful info about the rental and Charleston. The pictures on VRBO are great, but definitely don't do it justice. It's very clean and comfortable. We will definitely be back!!

This comfortable studio was just what my husband and I were looking for when we needed to escape our home town and take a break. The space is beautiful, full of character, and very peaceful - especially for being located right in the heart of downtown Charleston. We had easy access to restaurants, pubs, galleries, historic sights, and the waterfront - that is, when we felt like leaving this little oasis. We made good use of the little cook top and refrigerator for some quick meals when we wanted to stay in. The fresh flowers were a nice, homey touch, and the access to bikes and beach gear really added value. Kit was available to address any concerns and questions and made recommendations for local spas and restaurants. Highly recommended!

My husband and I just returned from a 4 night stay at this lovely apartment. The location was great, walked everywhere, and easily could stop in for a break. We found the apartment very clean, private, and full of amenities. The beach chairs, beach umbrella and cooler were a nice touch. We spent a great day at Folly Beach and had a blast. The bed is super comfortable and the rain shower very nice. We also had our coffee in the am and our cocktails in the afternoon on the deck. This was a great plus to the apartment, especially since we had perfect weather. We also used her bikes that are available with the loft. Had a fun time exploring in the early morning and did a nice sunset bike ride to the Battery. We loved Charleston and found Kit's loft the perfect place for us to explore from. We would definitely stay here again, without question.

wonderful spa-like getaway in downtown

Date of Stay: 03/17/11 Review Submitted: 03/24/11

My husband and I just returned from a 3-night stay at this loft apartment in historic downtown Charleston. We are both CofC alumni and know Charleston well. This is one of the best locations in town! We walked to every restaurant and bar and didnt need a car at all. We were also so happy to have use of two beach cruisers, which we rode over to Taco Boy a couple miles north of the loft. The actual apartment was larger and more affordable than a downtown hotel. It has a very nice spa-like quality with high end finishes (rain showerhead, marble countertops, large flatscreen tv) and a super comfortable bed. It's as beautiful in person as it is in the pictures. The icing on the cake was the private patio! We hosted happy hour there both Friday and Saturday nights of our stay, and my sister and I used the patio during the day on Saturday to do some sun bathing. We definitely recommend this place and plan to stay here again for our next visit to beautiful Charleston!

This loft apartment was great in every way! The description and pictures were accurate on the VRBO website. It had a lot of wonderful character with pine floors, brick walls, and old beams! When we toured Charleston the central loction of the apartment allowed us to stop by as needed and take a break. The apartment was well stocked with everything you would expect and more. Even a beach umbrella, chairs, and a cooler were thoughtfully provided for our use. A notebook of restaurants, tours, and places to see in Charleston was helpful. We loved the covered deck and on a cool evening used the outside heater provided. Our favorite activity in Charleston was walking through the streets and taking in the history. We really liked visiting the Pink House which is the oldest house in Charleston. We would recommend this property to our friends!

What an amazing experience it was to stay at Kit's loft. The location could not have been more perfect, and the unit itself was spotless and well appointed. We were there for five nights and enjoyed every minute of our stay. We rented a car for one day only, and that was when we went to visit the beach, otherwise there was no need for a car. So much is within very comfortable walking distance, and it gave us the opportunity to take advantage of the pedicab service which was fun and convenient. Our pedicab driver even gave us his personal cell # and would pick us up within five minutes whenever we called. The trolley was also a great way to get us where we wanted to go. The area is very safe and we were quite comfortable walking at night. Our first night as we were wandering around hoping to find someplace to eat at 11:30pm, we met some folks outside on the sidewalk who gave us an excellent suggestion to go to Tsunami's (delicious sushi, very fresh!) as their kitchen is open until midnite even on Sundays. I wanted to take the bed home with me it was so comfortable, and much appreciated after long days of walking and taking in the sights. We really enjoyed the deck, such a lovely spot to have morning coffee or to relax and unwind in the evenings. Everyone we crossed paths with in this building was so helpful and kind I can't say enough about this property and the hospitality extended to us while staying here,

Perfect place for a couple visting Charleston

Guest: Newlyweds (Atlanta, GA)
Date of Stay: 10/25/10 Review Submitted: 11/11/10

My wife and I stayed in Kit's place for a week during our honeymoon. Pretty much everything about it was perfect. It was larger, more private and much more affordable than any of the hotels downtown. The location puts you within short walking distance of the battery and most of the downtown restaurants. For the restaurants towards the north end of downtown near the Citadel, Kit provides two bicycles for you to use. I thought that parking might be an issue, but we just parked on East Bay (across the street from the Battery mansions) and walked the 2 blocks or so to the room. On days that we left to visit attractions outside of downtown, we were able to park right in front of the apartment because the meters are off from 6pm to 9am. The kitchenette would allow you to save some money by cooking breakfast and/or lunch for yourself if you wanted to, but there were simply too many restaurants nearby that we wanted to try. I mean, who wants to cook on their honeymoon, right? We did spend one nice evening on the deck sipping champagne and eating fruit and relaxing after the stress of our wedding, but that was only after going out for dinner. Our one complaint is that there is a good bit of street noise during busy hours, but that can be expected from any hotel in downtown Charleston. Fortunately, the noise ended fairly early every night (even on Friday and Saturday) and didn't bother our sleep. The only minor annoyance was the garbage truck coming around early in the morning a couple of days during our stay, but like I said, if you're going to stay downtown (in any city) you can expect a little bit of traffic noise. Aside from (or despite, I should say) the minor noise annoyance, I would say Kit's place is the perfect spot for a couple looking to explore one of the coolest cities around. You are literally minutes by foot from everything downtown and minutes by car from Folly Beach, Mt. Pleasant, Shem Creek (the best spot for seafood restaurants with a view), Sullivan's Island, awesome plantations, the Charleston Tea Plantation and the Firefly distillery, all of which we were able to see and do during our stay. Now we just need another reason to go back to Charleston. P.S. You also get the benefit of seeing all of the incredible artwork in the gallery downstairs every time you leave and return. The gallery owner is really friendly and will gladly recommend things for you to see and do and places to eat.

We just spent a week at this wonderful studio and we cannot stop raving about it. FANTASTIC location, close to everything that Charleston has to offer: art galleries, restaurant, bakeries, bars, historic district, the Battery and more. Amenities were excellent and Trish, the owner, and her staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The property is clean, well appointed and the deck is a fantastic place for either your morning coffee or early evening drinks-all while you listen to the bells ringing in the distance. I recommend this property to anyone who wishes to experience the real Charleston!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 nights in June and it was absolutely wonderful! The place is so comfortable, gets great natural light, and is beatifully decorated. I loved how the shower had a window that looked out over the tree tops. Having appliances and a mini-fridge was so convenient and saved us money since we did not have to eat out every single meal! We loved the proximity to shops, restaurants, sightseeing, etc. We did not use our car the entire time. If you are going to Charleston this place is so much better than a hotel. I am from Charleston and visit often. This accommodation is much better than a hotel. The loft has been beautifully renovated while maintaining the charm and character of older buildings in Charleston. The location is perfect for walking to the Waterfront Part, Battery, shopping, and some of the best restaurants in Charleston. As an added bonus, the price is very reasonable. I recently stayed in Kit's loft over Easter Weekend. We loved the location and everything we needed was in the loft. She even supplied beach towels and a cooler for the beach. It was very comfortable and we enjoyed the deck. First Friday Night Art Walk right outside our door, A great way to start the weekend. You can't have a better location, you are close to everything. We thought we would use the bikes but it is so much fun to see Charleston on foot. Kit was very helpful and I look forward to staying here again.

We just returned from spending a week in Kit's loft apartment. We chose not to have a rental care (Great taxi service to and from airport) and we were glad we selected this rental. Right on Broad St.; several blocks from the riverfront park; in the central part of the historic district. The loft apartment was beautiful, clean, comfortable, quiet and private! King bed was great! Nice amenities and a true bargain for a great location! For two people, I would highly recommend looking into Kit's loft apartment--everyone was extremely accommodating!

We just got back from the most wonderful time in Charleston. Kit has done a fantastic job with this studio apartment. Everything was first rate. The location could not be better. Head south a block or 2 and you're in neighborhoods full of historic Charleston mansions. Head north and you're surrounded by restaurants, shops and pubs. We loved the bikes. They allowed us to cover more ground than walking and without the "insulating" effect of a car. In fact, we never moved the car once during our entire stay. We felt more like residents than tourists and the folks downstairs who run one of the nicest art galleries in the city, Coco Vivo, were delightful to talk to on our way in and out. There is no way I can rate this place high enough to do it justice. We will definitely return (if it's available).
