Are you ready for an amazing vacation? This is where it all begins. This home away from home is found on a quiet tree lined street, one door down from a lovely public park (which is our backside neighbor). We are truly within walking distance to Disneyland at just over 2 blocks from the Disney property. This 3 bedroom, 2 bath home sits on a 12,000 square foot lot. That’s over a quarter of an acre! The 38’ by 16’ pool hardly makes a dent in this private backyard. The kids still have plenty of room to run and play, if you can get them out of the pool. The shallow end is only 3 feet for the little ones, while the deep end can take a high dive at 9 feet deep. Depending on what season you come in, you might find avocados, oranges and apricots on the fruit trees. At night you can watch the Disneyland fireworks right there in your backyard!

Almost the entire interior of this home was renovated a few years ago. Every room has a ceiling fan as well as air conditioning to keep you cool even when you’re not in the pool. There is seating for 10 in the dining room which looks out over the pool and yard. Two of the three bedrooms have a queen bed and a bunk bed, while the third room has a king. There is also a sofa sleeper in the living room. A large TV, a movie library, DVD and video player, puzzles and books are here to keep you occupied while you relax after a day at the amusement park. The kitchen is well equipped with everything from a blender for margarita’s to a serving platter for a turkey!

The grocery store for all your food supplies is just a short walk in the shade down our quiet little street. There is also a CVS drug store, $.98 store, Bank of America, T-shirt store, skateboard shop, Hometown Buffet, a great little taco shop and more right in the same center. Across the street you’ll find Kmart, Walgreen’s, Autozone and Pep Boy’s. If fast food is easier than cooking, there’s Taco Bell, Arby’s, Burger King, McDonald’s, Carl’s Jr and Green Burrito all in these two shopping centers! Pizza Hut, Subway, Papa John’s Pizza and a Blockbuster movie rental is across the street from these centers!

We are centrally located near all the major freeways. If you want to head south to San Deigo to visit Sea World or the Wild Animal Park or north to Los Angeles for Universal Studios, Hollywood or Malibu, just jump on the 5 freeway. You can head east to the mountains or Palm Springs or go west and south to the beaches. Everything is a short drive away. When you’re ready to relax again, you have a quiet place to come back to!

Owner Description

Hi! My name is Joy and I was born and raised right here in Anaheim, just down the street from Disneyland (Mickey and I go WAY back). I know everything about the area. I can tell you what beach to go to for surfing, wind surfing, body surfing, or even kitesurfing (aka kiteboarding)! I even know the best kitesurfing instructor in So Cal! If you want activities and excitement, I know the places. If you want culture or relaxation, I was forced into those as a child, so I know where they are too. =) Come visit and see what Orange County has to offer. I love it here and I think you will too!

Why the Owner Chose Anaheim

Who doesn't want to go to Disneyland?! The house is located so close to Disneyland, you can easily walk to the park. Anaheim is centrally located between San Diego (Sea World, Lego Land, San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, etc.) and Los Angeles (Universal Studios, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, etc.) and you'll be staying less than 15 minutes to Knotts Berry Farm! The beautiful Crystal Cathedral is about 3 miles away. It's an architectural masterpiece! I've got maps to help you get to every one of these attractions!

The Unique Benefits of this House

You can watch the Disneyland fireworks from the backyard! You have grocery, department and drug stores all right on the main street. Morton's and Ruth's Chris steak houses as well as 20 other fine dining restaurants are all within a few miles. If you're on a budget, the kitchen has everything from an apple corer to a zester! If it's in my kitchen, it's in the kitchen at the house! Don't leave Southern California without a trip to the beach! Huntington Beach is less than 15 miles should you want to check out Surf City! Laguna Beach is south of that if you want to check out the art or antique stores. Venice is about 20 miles north if you want to people watch (they're different up there!). Make sure to bring your camera with you every where you go during your stay. You never know who (or what) you'll see!

Close to Mickey and Friends

Guest: Dakota (Galveston, Texas)
Date of Stay: 05/02/11 Review Submitted: 05/23/11

We were worried about the size of our group (10 people) in this home, but it was awesome! It was a little tricky with only 2 bathrooms, but we worked it out. We walked to Disneyland all 4 days, about 20 minutes one way, with our whole family (kids aged 8, 10 and 12). There are many stores in close proximity, and the people in the community were very friendly. The property is very homey, with almost anything you could imagine: kitchen supplies, tons of toys, plenty of blankets and towels. The deck area was our favorite space with a lovely pool, and BBQ. The owner of the rental was also incredibly available. Before our trip we exchanged several very helpful emails that really helped us to feel more ready to enjoy the space and the community around us, including many directions to shopping areas and restaurants close by. We have been home for just over a week and we have already recommended this property to several friends. This vacation was 4 years in the making, and it was better than we even imagined.

Wonderful rental!

I live in Orange County and was hosting a family reunion. I needed locatons for relatives to stay during their visit with us. Joy was wonderful to work with. We ended up renting both her house and condo. Both are great places! The condo is very spacious! The backyard at the house is amazing. Both were clean and well equipped. I recommend either location!

Definitely will come again

I think my wife sent Joy 10 emails the week before our arrival. Joy was extremely helpful. She responded quickly to every one! After we arrived, my wife called her several times asking for suggestions and directions. Again, she was extremely helpful. We loved the house and the location. My favorite was the pool, but my wife loved the roses in the yard. There must have been 10 differnt kinds. Great place!

very disappointing

Guest: Marife (Lihue, Hawaii)
Date of Stay: 07/14/10 Review Submitted: 08/27/10

The pool was dirty and left a film on those who used it. The pool man didn't even clean the pool, but left a list of supplies needed. There were 10 of us and approximately 12 towels, old and dingy as were the linens. We spent 2 mornings at the laundromat as the washer and dryer were locked up in the garage. There was only one pillow per person, and they were stained. We bought a broom to sweep the place. We also had to buy trash bags. The dishwasher was broken, and we weren't allowed to use the garbage disposal. The lock box was broken and the key was by a big hole in the ground in the back yard (very dangerous). The air conditioner broke and wasn't fixed for 3 days. I asked for a discount and none given. I smelled moth balls when we arrived. We noticed holes in our various pieces of clothing. The toilet in the master bathroom was contiuously running. There was mold and mildew on the diving board and the storage shack. The cupboard under the sink was dirty. This place is almost 2 miles from Disneyland. That is not what I call walking distance. This place needs a lot of work!

Charming Backyard Oasis

Guest: Jack and Carol (New York, NY)
Date of Stay: 01/25/10 Review Submitted: 07/14/10

My wife, Carol, and I stayed at this charming home in Anaheim. The owner thought of our every need, having the home ready at the stated time and inquiring as to our enjoyment of the home midway through out stay. That backyard is the bomb. It's clean, the pool is inviting, the weather was nice (tahnks to mother nature), and the inside of the home was very clean nad much of it appeared to be updated. The only drawback was we didn't have an extra week of vacation so we could stay longer. We will be back!! What a delight it was to stay in your home. Thank you!! A hundred times, thank you. And thank you for the accounting and quick refund of our deposit. My wife says you must be organized like there is no tomorrow. I never argue with her.

Would never stay there again

Guest: Daniel (Northern California)
Date of Stay: 06/21/10 Review Submitted: 07/07/10

My wife and I have been renting homes through VRBO for the last five years and have never felt so unsatisfied with a home we have stayed in. We feel that we definitely overpayed for the outdated, old home. When we arrived the swimming pool was a milky white color (it literally left a white film on my body when when I got out, which is actually visible in our photos), the pool snake was broken and the pool cover reel was also broken. Our bedsheets appeared as though they had not been washed and we didn't have access to the washing machine (which was in the locked garage) so we couldn't even wash them ourselves. We found a couple of very large bugs in the home, one being the largest roach/beetle I had ever seen in my life in the bathroom. We obeyed all rules and regulations to the max and practically left the home cleaner than it was when we arrived, as we usual do when we rent homes. Our dog swam in the pool for a few minutes twice during our stay (it was never stated on the contract or by the owner that this would be an issue) and because there was some dog hair in the pool the owner of the home is unlawfully attempting to keep our ENTIRE security deposit. Out of the 10+ homes we have rented through VRBO we have NEVER lost a penny of our security deposits. If you have dogs or children, you should also know that there is a deep, drained (and unsightly) pond/fountain in the middle of that backyard that can be very dangerous.

Owner response:When I spoke with your wife midway through your stay, she never mentioned any issues. As a matter of fact, she said "everything is great." It wasn't until after your departure when I told you the pool company found the pool in terrible condition (near the end of your stay) that you mentioned you had issues. The cost I incurred to return the pool to it's previous condition (because of your dog) was well above the deposit. The renters must be responsible for the entire group staying in my house, including their pets. As I always do, I included my phone number in the email just prior to your arrival. I also asked for you to call me if you had any questions or issues. I feel the situation was unfortunate for both of us. Consequently, I am reconsidering my decision to allow pets. A guests stay in my home is very important to me. The guests experience, comfort and enjoyment of my home is first and foremost. On those rare moments when there are issues, if the guest(s) notify me, it allows me an opportunity to correct anything as needed in a timely manner.

What a great location!

Guest: Shelly C (Seattle, WA)
Date of Stay: 03/01/10 Review Submitted: 03/25/10

The house is in a great neighborhood. The park is right there for the kids to play. The backyard is awesome. The kids couldn't wait to get home to swim after a half day at Disney. We had to drag them out of the pool to go back! We found that a neighbor had a miniature horse the kids wanted to feed everyday. Turns out, the neighbor was Joy's mom! What a neat old neighborhood! I don't know how she could leave it! Thanks for a wonderful stay! We WILL be back! I'm going to make sure I book way in advance so we get the entire vacation there!

Owner response:I'm glad you enjoyed your stay Shelly. Believe me, it was tough moving out of my home. I grew up in that neighborhood and LOVED it. But it's great to have others have the opportunity to enjoy it as well. It's funny that you found my mom's horse April. I bet she loved the visits from the kids.
