The Camp at Barney Point…the perfect place for family vacations or multi-generational retreats! Outstanding 2,700 sf Lakefront “Adirondack Great Camp”, available seasonally. This Camp, or lake house, is an architectural “wow”, reflecting a careful, modern renovation while maintaining its historic, 1920s character.
Located at Barney Point on Colchester Point Road, Colchester, VT, on the broad portion of Lake Champlain, with spectacular views to south and west, lake breezes, and picture-perfect sunsets.
The property offers almost an acre of manicured lawns, stone walkways, and great landscaping, with two hundred feet of cliff-top lake frontage and panoramic views. Kids and adults alike will enjoy the huge, green lawn for croquet, volleyball, ping pong, softball, tag or other games. Sit, read, and relax. Lay in a hammock. Sit back in a comfortable Adirondack chair at the cliff's edge and watch the fun of the season on the water in front of you. What you’ll notice about the Camp at Barney Point is that it offers plenty of space for family time, inside and out of doors.
Walk the meandering path through the woods to the association beach—with amazing southerly views to the most expansive section of Lake Champlain—great for bonfires and gatherings. The lake access here offers clean, shallow water and a sandy bottom—great for kids.
Are you looking for an opportunity while on vacation to actually use the lake instead of just gazing at it?! This vacation destination includes numerous amenities that you'd typically find only at an all-inclusive summer resort. Use the Camp’s guest boat mooring, swim platform, rowboat, paddle board, or 3 kayaks. Paddling along the shore offers an idyllic way to spend an afternoon or evening.
Or walk, run or bike the Island Line Trail, a 5-mile scenic wonder, offering access points adjacent to the Camp. This continues north to South Hero, VT when the bike ferry is running, or south to Burlington, another 7.5 miles of scenic beauty! Wonderful Airport Park is just down the road, offering tennis, basketball and running trails - great for adults, kids and pets.
The Camp sleeps 14 - a king bed in the 2nd floor master with direct access to a master bathroom with soaking tub overlooking the lake; 2 twins in a 2nd floor bedroom; 4 twins and a double in the 3rd 2nd floor bedroom; a double in the 1st floor bedroom with direct access to the 1st floor bathroom; and 2 twins in the main living area that by day form a seating/lounging area for games and reading.
The Camp offers an amazing kitchen with dishwasher, pantry, gas range, fridge with freezer and ice maker, and utensils/dishes for the largest of gatherings, as well as Silestone bar/seating for 8 in a u-shape. A full W&D is offered on the 2nd floor. (All appliances are new for the 2013 season). The Camp has 2 bathrooms, each with shower.
The main floor gathering areas offer ample seating for dining, conversation and games. There is a large, wooden dining table with seating for 10-12. In addition, there is 'living' seating for about 20 more. Views abound from every room, with the screened and outdoor porches and decks offering an extension of the gatherings inside. The 2013 season brings all new outdoor composite dining and Adirondack seating. Ample off-road parking is offered, as is a great deal of privacy. Warm up in front of the wood stove, framed by the Camp’s original brick chimney, on those cooler evenings.
The Camp at Barney Point offers more than just a place to stay; the list of 'inclusions' is a true differentiator:

We stayed at "the camp" for an extended family vacation. It was everything I had hoped for and more. The pictures do not give the interior of this home justice. Cozy nooks for napping, reading and relaxation are all part of its charms. We did have a total of 4 young kids with us, so the swings and ample play areas were ideal. The sunsets over the lake were our favorite part. It was a little challenging to get used to the thin walls between our rooms, but once the kids adjusted to the extra ambient noise, it worked out. We loved all the activities available right from our doorstep plus the charms of nearby Burlington. We will be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The Camp at Barney Point was a perfect place for us to be together while in Vermont for our daughter's wedding. Our time there was all about being together, and the great room and porches provided plenty of room for our group. We enjoyed the beautiful views of the lake, and even though it was mid-June, we enjoyed the fireplace, Burt Willey was easy to get in touch with and very accomodating to our needs. We are grateful to the Willeys for making the Camp at Barney Point available for us.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

We loved our time at the camp - it really does have everything you need! The time of year we went (May) it was still a bit chilly but the woodstove really took care of that nicely and created a warm comfortable atmosphere. The place was really clean and everything you could need was in the kitchen, with all new appliances and the furniture was beautiful! There was so much stuff in the shed like bikes, kayaks, any sport you would like to play. There was a lot of flooding in the area when we went to stay at the house but fortunately this house is well above water lever so there's no concern for flooding!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

With our three sons and two dogs, we enjoyed every moment at the Camp. From bike rides to kayak adventures, or just swimming in the refreshing cool water of Lake Champlain, this truly was a vacation to be remembered. It was an incredible treat to wake up every morning to the gorgeous view from the master bedroom. The house was perfectly appointed with lots of great cooking utensils and two large gas grills. We had local relatives out for family dinners several times during our stay. The house is a beautiful space in its own right, and highly conducive to curling up on any of a number of couches or chairs to read a good book. The lawn overlooking the lake is breathtakingly beautiful. Burlington and Colchester were fun to explore, from minor league baseball to excellent diners to Vermont's only four screen drive-in. We enjoyed it all and would love to return. Thanks for sharing this wonderful place.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

This "Camp" has everything you need to enjoy an incredible vacation. The kitchen has all of the essential tools for making great meals, the bedrooms have awesome linens and furniture, and the family/sitting areas are well appointed, both inside and outdoors. We used the kayaks, the ping pong table, made puzzles and played board games. A fabulous bike trail is just down the road, with water on both sides of the trail, that goes on forever! The lake sunsets were just one of the highlights for me. There is truly something for everyone right at this house. Burlington is just a short drive where you will find fabulous restaurants and great shops, all along a pedestrian way. Just a perfect location for fun, connecting with family and relaxation.Recommended for: People with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My family stayed at this lovely cottage for three nights In May 2010. I can't think of a more perfect spot to have a gathering amongst family & friends. The grounds are immaculate and when you enter the cottage, you step back in time and enter a truly authentic 1920's Adirondack-style cottage. The pictures on the listing do not do it justice. The amenities at this cottage are amazing. The kitchen was a joy to prepare meals in with everything you need right at your fingertips. The living room was a great place for family conversations or just relaxing with a good book and the porch was a popular spot with our family. To say this cottage has character is an understatement. On the last morning, it was difficult getting motivated to pack up and leave. It was sad to say goodbye and I am looking forward to returning someday. If you have an occasion to visit the area or if you want to have a memorable family reunion, this is truly a unique and remarkable property to consider. The owners could not have been nicer or more informative both before and during our stay. It was an exceptional experience.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.
