Relax and enjoy a carefree vacation in "Southern Comfort". This coastal Carolina cottage is hidden away on secluded Fort Holmes Trail in the heart of Bald Head Island's maritime forest. "Southern Comfort" is tastefully decorated, beautifully maintained and furnished with everything you'll need for a memorable stay. Linens, beach equipment, a charcoal grill, two golf carts and departure cleaning are all included. A temporary membership to the BHI Club is included in the rent (for weekly rentals).
A CHARMING HOME
Enjoy outdoor dining, curl up with a book or just relax on the spacious screened porch that adjoins the living and dining area on the ground floor. We anticipated all of your cooking needs when we stocked the large, open kitchen. A powder room and generously sized master bedroom/bath suite are also on the ground level.
Upstairs you'll find a second full bath and two more bedrooms, each charmingly decorated and furnished with twin beds. Kids will love using the upstairs sitting room with its own television and DVD player, comfortable seating and game table. "Southern Comfort" also has a high chair and Pak and Play for your little one.
A CONVENIENT LOCATION
"Southern Comfort" is located in the western side of Bald Head Island, a short golf cart ride to the ferry, the Maritime Market and several accesses to South Beach as well as the Shoals Club and BHI Club. At the Shoals Club, you'll find a swimming pool, separate baby pool, fitness center and boardwalk to the beach. The Club provides beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas. It also features an outdoor snack bar and an elegant restaurant for more formal dining.
The BHI Club's 18-hole George Cobb designed golf course has been completely refurbished. The Club has several venues for dining including the popular Pelicatessan that adjoins the swimming pool. It also offers four newly resurfaced tennis courts, three croquet courts and a fitness center.
Bald Head Island's 14 miles of beaches are known as a sea turtle nesting area. The Bald Head Island Conservancy offers turtle walks during nesting and hatching season as well as a variety of nature programs throughout the year. While you're here, rent a canoe or kayak and explore the creeks and marsh. Try your hand at crabbing or surf fishing. And you won't want to miss Old Baldy, the oldest lighthouse in North Carolina.
"Southern Comfort" is a no-smoking home and pets are not allowed. On-Island manager is available for your peace of mind.

We highly recommend this rental house! It was sparkling clean and well maintained ... We had everything we needed all week. The location is fantastic - private and quiet for relaxing, but only a few minutes on the golf cart to the beach or marina. The layout of the house, with living spaces on both the first and second levels, was perfect for our family.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway.

My family and I recently stayed at Southern Comfort for a long weekend and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The house was great and very well-maintained, plus the location on the island is perfect, close to the BHI club, beach, and shopping--however the house was so comfortable that we never wanted to leave! The property owner was wonderful to work with and gladly accommodated our travel schedule--we'll definitely be renting from him again. I definitely recommend this property and am looking forward to staying at Southern Comfort again soon!

We had a fantastic time at "Southern Comfort". The home was perfect for 6 of us and the photos and description gave us a perfect preview of what to expect. The home was comfortable, spacious and clean. We appreciated having 2 golf carts and the property owner (Mike) was very easy and professional to work with....he even checked in with us during our stay to make sure all was ok.This will be a memorable vacation and we look forward to staying at this home again in the future.

Our stay at Southern Comfort could not have been better. The charming and immaculate home provided everything that our family needed for a comfortable and relaxing vacation. Our daughter was married on the island during our stay and the home allowed plenty of space for her rehearsal dinner. The property manager was pleasant and responsive to work with and we plan to return to this property for years to come.

Four of my friends and myself were visiting BHI for our friend's wedding, so we did some research and decided to stay at Southern Comfort. The father of the groom dropped us off at the house from the ferry and was amazed by the deal we had. Such a beautiful, spacious house. Pictures don't really show you how much room there is. VERY private location, but you are still less than five minutes to the market and the beaches. Wouldn't stay any other place on Bald Head. Great owner, great house, great experience!

I stayed here with my daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and fiance for a weekend. The stay was absolutely wonderful! My fiance and I stayed upstairs and we loved it---a living area in itself! We loved seeing the island and by staying at Southern Comfort it was very easy to get to everything. I was very happy that there were 2 golf carts that were at the house b/c that help with getting around with a 2 month old grandson. I am so happy my daughter found this house for us and if/when we come back to BHI I will definitely rent from this owner again. No need to look for another house when this house was perfect!

My family and I were here for a wedding weekend. The owner, Mike, made sure that the wedding weekend was exceptional starting with allowing us to check-in early, so I could make it to a bridesmaid brunch. He called to check on us and ask if everything was okay and if he could do anything else to make our visit better. Overall, Mike was a wonderful person to work with and I wouldn't rent from anyone else on the island except for him! The house----PERFECT! My mom and her fiance came to keep my 2 month old son during the wedding and they had their own upstairs the entire weekend. Everything that we could have needed for the weekend was at the house and it was a perfect place for a family to spend time together. When returning to the island for a visit there is NO OTHER place I would go except for SOUTHERN COMFORT and there is no one I would rather rent from then Mike Boozell! This stay was a great first impression of the people and homes on the island.

Southern Comfort - exactly what I needed when I needed it. Your home was so welcoming, the location so private, so peaceful. The island has so much to offer. The beaches were magnificent, amenities I hadn't imagined. I had my choice of exquisite quiet or socializing at will. I will visit again and again - thanks for making your home available. Absolutely wonderful. The island offers so much for a vacation. The beaches are outstanding. You can go to areas where you feel like you own the whole beach. Southern Comfort is set in a very relaxing area and we felt "at home" there. We were looking for a relaxing vacation and found it. We will definitely be going back. If you love the beach, but don't care for the crowds, bald island is perfect. Southern comfort is in a good location too. Tucked away, we felt like we owned the island, and we were only a couple of minutes away from everything on the island. Golf carts are a blast too.
