Relax and enjoy a carefree vacation in "Southern Comfort". This coastal Carolina cottage is hidden away on secluded Fort Holmes Trail in the heart of Bald Head Island's maritime forest. "Southern Comfort" is tastefully decorated, beautifully maintained and furnished with everything you'll need for a memorable stay. Linens, beach equipment, a charcoal grill, two golf carts and departure cleaning are all included along with a temporary membership in the popular Shoals Club.
A CHARMING HOME
Enjoy outdoor dining, curl up with a book or just relax on the spacious screened porch that adjoins the living and dining area on the ground floor. We anticipated all of your cooking needs when we stocked the large, open kitchen. A powder room and generously sized master bedroom/bath suite are also on the ground level.
Upstairs you'll find a second full bath and two more bedrooms, each charmingly decorated and furnished with twin beds. Kids will love using the upstairs sitting room with its own television and DVD player, comfortable seating and game table. "Southern Comfort" also has a high chair and Pak and Play for your little one.
A CONVENIENT LOCATION
"Southern Comfort" is located in the western side of Bald Head Island, a short golf cart ride to the ferry, the Maritime Market and several accesses to South Beach as well as the Shoals Club. At the Club, you'll find a swimming pool, separate baby pool, fitness center and boardwalk to the beach. The Club provides beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas. It also features an outdoor snack bar and an elegant restaurant for more formal dining. Shoals Club membership is included in your rental fee.
For an additional charge, you may also opt for a temporary membership in the Bald Head Island Club. The Club's 18-hole George Cobb designed golf course is being refurbished this winter. The Club has several venues for dining including the popular Pelicatessan that adjoins the swimming pool. It also offers four newly resurfaced tennis courts, three croquet courts and a fitness center.
Bald Head Island's 14 miles of beaches are known as a sea turtle nesting area. The Bald Head Island Conservancy offers turtle walks during nesting and hatching season as well as a variety of nature programs throughout the year. While you're here, rent a canoe or kayak and explore the creeks and marsh. Try your hand at crabbing or surf fishing. And you won't want to miss Old Baldy, the oldest lighthouse in North Carolina.
