Long weekend reunion

Guest: Sue (New York)
Date of Stay: 04/13/12 Review Submitted: 04/17/12

It's rare that a place turns out to be better than its pictures but this house and its property were beautiful. Our group of 14 had the most wonderful time in the spacious kitchen and on the deck preparing our meals. The bedrooms were intriguingly laid out, each one special in its own way. Lots to do around town and by the beach. We were all so sorry the weekend had to come to an end.

Wonderful spot for a family reunion

We just ended a terrific vacation at this beautiful house. Fourteen of us stayed very comfortably; the rooms were all spacious and beautiful (not to mention cool and very clean). The living areas are many and cozy, whether you want to watch TV, play cards, or do a puzzle. The kitchen is large but charming and very well equipped. Outside, the grounds are gorgeous; although there's really no sandy beach (you'll find that locally anyway), we had a lot of fun kayaking and fishing off the dock just at the end of the lawn, and playing volleyball and badminton with the newly installed net (we brought our own badminton set but a volleyball was there). Just off the kitchen there's a large deck with 3 tables where we enjoyed cook-outs and relaxing while watching the kids play in the yard. The outdoor shower is brand new and beautiful, large and private. The property is fairly close to town; each morning we strolled to the main street for coffee and breakfast. The landlord is extremely helpful and accommodating; we really had a marvelous time in large part because of our lodging. Enjoy!

Winter Get-Away

Guest: TeamA (New England)
Date of Stay: 12/26/10 Review Submitted: 01/17/11

We had a fantastic time in this amazing home. We arrived in the middle of a snowstorm and Jim was there waiting for us to show us around. The house was perfect for our extended family, ranging from age 12 – 60. The house was decorated with holiday lights and a Christmas tree making our visit feel like home. With the large kitchen and three living rooms there was ample space to spread out or for all 18 of us to be together in one room. The size allowed for solitude as well as companionship. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. The views, from many places inside the home, were breathtaking. The rolling lawn, covered in snow, made a great sledding hill, down to the water's edge.

Family Vacation Retreat

Guest: SyracuseHomeTown (Syracuse)

The house was everything the website stated & MORE…We stayed with Jim at his wonderful home on a family vacation. There were approximately 12 adults and two teenage boys. The home was large enough for all of us to eat together as well as not be on top of each other during our stay. Jim was great and very accommodating. We arrived early and he gave us a name of a great lunch spot that he frequents often, which was amazing, while we waiting for the house to be ready. He also recommended a hidden gem of a public beach, which we would never have found if it wasn't for him. The house is in a prime location, not to close to downtown where you are in the hustle & bustle of the town but not to far from the attractions. The kayaks were a blast; we went out in them on numerous occasions. The back yard was large enough were the kids could play and not be in the way of cooking or relaxing on the deck, FYI the yard was great for a "Slip & Slide". Even our ~80 year old grandmother had a great time, the downstairs bedroom & half-bath were ideal for her. We would definitely stay again on our next family vacation! Thanks Again Jim!

Winter wedding delight!

Guest: Pamma (Oakland, CA)
Date of Stay: 12/29/09 Review Submitted: 01/12/10

We were looking for a home that could accommodate our 14 family members and friends from California that had come to celebrate our daughter's wedding. The home was perfect, extremely clean and well organized. Huge and spacious yet snug and warm for the winter snow. Very well appointed kitchen with service for 16 including butler's pantry, three separate "living rooms" so the grandkids could watch kid videos, another group could enjoy a quiet fire, reading and conversation and a third group could enjoy the blue ray big screen TV... Not a bad bedroom in the house... great views. Awesome linen closet with all the sheets, towels, blankets and pillows you could need. The hill going down to the water was perfect for the kids sledding and the big deck made for great snow play. We could not have asked for a nicer place! The owner is delightful and made sure the driveway was salted every day so it was not icy for us sunny Californians.

This was the best equipped home we have ever seen. The location was great - close to many historical attractions. The decks and yard were perfect for 4 families with children of many different ages. We loved the kayaks and the view! We would recommend this property for large families who are interested in a combination vacation of relaxation and education.

My husband's family and mine all got together for a big vacation. The house was perfect for us. There were 9 children and the BIG YARD was a great thing. They spent so much time outside playing ball and running around. We used the kayaks and had lots of fun. I would recommend this house to any family!!!!!!! Great location for lots of sightseeing and adventures in southern New England!

Thank you Jim and Yuni! Beautiful property with all the amenities! Had a wonderful weekend and made use of large back yard, kayaks, and back deck (great for grilling with fantastic view of ocean). Everyone in our group (from AZ to DC) raved about the place. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone interested in having a great time in a gorgeous location. We will definitely be renting from Jim again!

Jim and family,Thankyou for letting us rent your Harborfront Estate! We rented this Incredible Property 10/1/08-10/5/08 to be in the area for Our sons wedding. The home was more than perfect, comfortable beds, lovely decor, plenty of towels, sheets, dishes, glasses.Everyone enjoyed their stay,we hosted a Bride & Grooms family dinner and even though the weather was cool we had plenty of room in such an impressive home. We ordered cooked lobsters from Woods Seafood on the Harbor, elegant cakes and appetizers from the Cornerstone Cafe to add with our traditional homemade dishes. The elegance of the home made the dinner a night to remember. Best of all the home is very close to town, has beautiful harborfront views from three bedrooms and decks, meticulous grounds.and an impressive courtyard entrance. The Guest book was filled with many compliments and momories letting the owners know what great hosts they are,I'm surprised there's not more reviews. Excellent place

Guest: BK & extended family (Philadelphia, Montana, Boston)
Date of Stay: 08/16/08 Review Submitted: 09/09/08

Really is a terrific place, and looks as advertised. Lawn is huge and great for kids. No real place to swim @ their portion of beach, but good for launching kayaks, etc. -- and a nice beach just down the road. Good sleeping options in the house, and it was perfect for our large group (14) of adults and kids. Owner was very nice and helpful on arrival and departure.

Owner response:I am really pleased that our guest from Philadelphia gave us a review rating of 5/5 and titled their review of our property as an "Excellent Place." I just wanted to clarify the swimming arrangements at our private beach. Swimming can be accomplished at our private beach and many people have done so. But since there is a 12 foot rise and fall of the tides in New England, swimming time has to be scheduled to coincide with the height of the tide. At high tide the water comes right up to our stairs so the beach disappears for approximately one hour. Conversely, at low tide, the water in the harbor pretty much drains out for two hours. Many people like this because they can go clamming at low tide, kayaking at high tide, and swimming or fishing at mid tide. Some guests have gone fishing right off our beach or in one of our kayaks and have caught some good-sized blue fish or stripers. I have myself on many occasions. Next year as an option for my guest I will have available a small Carolina skiff with a small outboard motor moored right in front of our property. For a small fee they can rent our boat for the day and tour Plymouth harbor or go outside the harbor and explore some of our secluded pristine sandy beaches that you can only get to by boat or 4x4.

What a FANTASTIC stay!

Guest: Sarah. Pete, and the kids (Richmond, TX)
Date of Stay: 11/18/07 Review Submitted: 05/14/08

This was the trip of a lifetime, and it would not have been the same if we had stayed anywhere else. The 5 of us had more room than we knew what to do with. The boys tried out different bedrooms on different nights, and found all of them to be perfect. Each has its own unique style, and once they stopped getting lost (quite humerous!) they were able to play and have a grand time going up one staircase and down another. Our three children had a fantastic time running around on the lawn and we had a great time exploring the beach for shells. I have never felt so comfortable anywhere away from home. We were able to "move" right in for our one-week stay, and the only thing I regret is not being able to stay longer. There are books and toys for the kids (the owner even gave them a football), sheets, towels, and everything else you need to feel immediately at home. It is clean, extremely well-kept, and enough to make any family or group want to move in for good! The owner went out of his way to meet us on our timeframe and explain everything to us. He was fantastic. The property is close to EVERYthing, including Plymouth Rock, Plymouth Plantation and the Mayflower II. I cannot say enough about how wonderful of a time we had, and how much was added to our vacation by staying in this home. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone going to visit the area! Everyone I know is jealous after seeing our vacation pictures...We will return if we ever have the opportunity. THANK YOU for adding so much to our Thanksgiving trip, Jim!

This truly beautiful vacation home is clean, very nicely furnished, comfortable and arranged so that it is quiet for sleeping and has areas affording privacy. The deck is large and perfect for dining, sunbathing or enjoying the beautiful water view. The availability of beaches, ponds, and many great restaurants and fun activities is an additiional bonus. It is the perfect place for family vacations and reunions.
