Map & Owner's Profile
Year Purchased: 1976
Why the Owner Chose Sequim
We didn't buy this for a vacation rental we BUILT it 20+ years ago to live there! In Sequim, we believe the best of all things are found, ocean beaches, mountains, winter sports, forests and wildlife, shopping and close enough to Seattle for events there, while still enjoying the small town lifestyle. There is local live theater, lots of franchised restaurants, along with local ones for great dinning. There is so much to do in the castle and on the 20 acres that you may not even want to leave. We even made our own snow board run one year! Still there are so many other things to do and see, so close by that you will probably end up wishing to come again to experience it all. Maybe a day trip to Victoria, Canada on the ferry (passport needed!) or snow sports at Hurricane Ridge, or charter a boat for all the water and boating adventures. The options are endless.
The Unique Benefits at this Castle
Secluded, peaceful, nature, room enough for all of our large family to sleep under one roof. Our Castle was the setting for two wedding receptions, banquets for 70, and even a Formal Ball for all the young single adults in our church from the whole Peninsula - clear to Forks! We love nature and with so much to do on the property and in the castle it is great to invite the people we want to be with, while it is wonderful to be secluded from seeing any neighbors when we want our privacy.
Owner's Map of Sequim
"Each Mans' home is his castle,
True love makes a Queen of his wife,
All the worlds' children are royal,
When the Light of the Lord fills your life."
Other than the first line, I wrote this poem, which is now in professional calligraphy and framed in the entry way of our dream home family castle. We raised our five children here, and then went on to welcome 20 foster kids over the next 10 years. The seclusion was perfect for keeping us all safe. Now our children all are happily married with families of their own and we still love to gather at the castle in the woods for celebrations or retreats. We hope that your dreams will come true as we share our castle home with you.

We loved this house specially due to its castle like look and unique architectural elegance. House and garden are spacious and are well suited for adventure seekers. Owners had provided many costumes and and game/sports equipments for our pleasure. The manager of the property is very professional and handled an issue related the security deposit in the best professional manner. Thank you for this wonderful piece of property.

My family (12 adults) spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at the "castle". We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Everyone was able to have their own bedroom. There was a dining table large enough to seat us all together. The kitchen had everything we needed to make our large meals too. The downstairs was ideal for opening our gifts. We all enjoyed looking at all of the decorations and beautiful bedrooms with costumes. We have spent Christmas at rentals homes for quite a few years now, but we all agreed this one was the most unusual and the most comfortable. We plan to come back, during the summer, so we can enjoy the beautiful grounds as well.

My group of 13 - ages 8 to 61 - really enjoyed our time at the castle. From grandparents to parents to kids, our group had fun with the decorations, games, and the whole ambience. The kids especially loved their rooms - the girls in the princess room and the boys in the hidden room.

Just home from a Girls getaway. We so enjoyed our long weekend at the castle. Plenty of room for everyone. We even dressed up in the gowns. Wished I was small enough to stay in the princess suite. A little girl's dream come true. Don't forget to take a ride up to Hurricane Ridge. Had a great lunch at El Cazador Mexican Restaurant. I would certainly recommend staying here. You'll love it!
Owner response:Dee, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Oh, and yes El Cazador is yummy, especially the sopapillas!

We had a wonderful week at Woodhaven Castle-all 21 of us! A well-supplied kitchen was certainly a plus when dealing with that many people. We usually have trouble finding places that are flexible with large numbers of guests who often can't commit until the last moment, so we were very pleased with how the managers handled our changing numbers. We had several great trips to the Olympic National Park, Dungeness Spit and area towns. We enjoyed the fresh air and abundance of stars-as well as the dress-up opportunities and ping pong tournaments.
Owner response:We love to have families stay at the castle, that is what it was built for originally - a home for a large family. Thanks!

Grama Jane, Thank you for providing a beautiful place for old friend to gather and reminisce,. We appreciate the large comfortable great-rooms. The lovely themed bedrooms, and the well stocked kitchen. And the costumes! The ability to find sizes to fit all 16 of us and share in the hilarity of a group picture was the highlight of the weekend. Our group of college girlfriends stayed at Woodhaven this year for our annual get-together. Given the size of our group, we often have trouble finding a place that can accommodate all of us middle-aged ladies while offering comfortable spaces where we can cook, eat and relax together throughout a long weekend. The castle was the perfect solution. Jane paid careful attention to every detail as she prepared the property for our arrival. What a gracious hostess, and what a fun place to get away from it all. The house is private, Sequim is a quick few minutes away and Port Townsend is an easy drive. The costumes are just an added bonus!
