A walk down a blue stone pathways leads to our charming cottage overlooking a beautiful spring fed lake. The cottage is surrounded by 50 year-old pine trees, perennials, and native trees .it is situated on our four-acre property with your own private 160 feet of lake front with canoe and 2 kayaks. Very private, quiet, serene, and just steps to lake front. Relax in the outdoor hot tub overlooking the lake.Take a bike ride through the quiet countryside (we provide 2 bikes). The cottage has an open kitchen, dining and sitting area with large pine beams, vaulted ceilings and a beautiful view of the lake or woods. The kitchen is fully equipped. The dining areas, both inside and out seat four to six people. The sitting area is very inviting, featuring a Vermont casting gas stove and a large, cozy window seat overlooking the lake and woods. The bathroom has a claw foot tub with shower, with all the amenities: hair dryer, ironing board, washer and dryer, plenty of bath and lake towels.
The bedroom on the main level has a full-size antique bed and sliding glass doors that lead out to the covered screened in porch overlooking the lake. The lake cottage also has a private patio with a hot tub, gas BBQ, and fire pit as well as your own private garden. Steps down from the cottage is a 60-foot cedar deck, a 12-foot by 12-foot pergola, and floating dock. There are lounge chairs, a table and chairs, a porch swing, and a hammock -- all private and overlooking the lake. Take a dip in the spring-fed lake which is clean and refreshing. Enjoy a paddle in the canoe or 2 kayaks. You may see painted turtles basking in the sun on fallen logs. Canadian geese and swans may swim by. If you wake up early, don't be surprised if you see wild turkeys, deer, fox, or red tailed hawks. They're all very common in our area.
The charming villages of Rhinebeck, Tivoli and Red Hook offer many choices for restaurants and nightly entertainment -- and are only about 15 minutes from our cottage. The Fisher Center on the grounds of Bard College is also only a 15 minute drive. There are historical estates such as Montgomery Place, Clermont and Olana. There is also Innisfree Garden in nearby Millbrook. Cities such as Great Barrington, Woodstock, Millerton, Millbrook and Hudson are a bit further but worth the drive.

I can only echo what all of the other reviews have said. This is a wonderful cottage away from it all. It is kept in meticulous condition and you want for nothing. I debated writing a review as to keep this place a secret but decided it was o.k to share it! We spent time in there over Christmas so when we entered the house to the warm fireplace going, and the adorable Christmas tree we knew it was going to be magical. And it was. Can't wait to visit again. Thanks Bruce and Deanna!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My husband and I stayed for our honeymoon and were absolutely blown away by the cottage. Every detail was obviously thought of, and every little amenity that we could have wanted was there. Between the gorgeous lake front views of the front porch, the hammock, a sweet alcove, bikes and boats, a fully stocked kitchen, local "green" soaps, and the hot tub...it just doesn't get better than that! Also, Bruce and Deanna were wonderful and accommodating! Thank you so much for helping us enjoy our after wedding bliss :)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I enjoyed this cozy cabin for our honeymoon. It was absolutely beautiful. We spent a week relaxing in a hammock, kayaking, and swimming in the refreshing lake. The owners were very friendly and the cabin had everything we could have needed. We loved the fresh eggs that were provided as well as having fresh herbs right outside the door. It was heaven! We look forward to returning again!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

A perfect place to get away from it all. Sit for a quiet breakfast on the porch watching the birds, swim in the refreshing pond, and read books at night. An essential renewal of my spirits....Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed at the cottage for two lovely weeks, where the owners treated us to a blissful time of lake swims, cosy rainy evenings accompanied by all kinds of birds, including the nextdoor chickens. It was a joy from beginning to end and we hope to return again soon. Though we got the gorgeous beginning of summer, I'm sure it would be a fabulous place to stay in the winter too. The owners give you everything you need and more, including responsive help with all questions about the cottage.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

I rented the painted turtle for our 1st Wedding Ann. and everything was perfect.! We arrived friday and unfortunatley had to go on Sun, although we were able to use all that is offered! The cottage is very quaint, the heated floors in the bathroom was a huge plus! The loft bed for slepping was very comfortable and the kithcen was equiped with all you need. Now the best part for us was the hot tub and fire pit! We used both at night and were so happy doing so! We made smores and just chilled by the fire all night..... Then to wind down for bed we jumped in the hottub and melted away. We met bruce on our 2nd day and he was very nice... all in all its a WINNER! we"ll be back for sure. Oh almost forgot....THE LAKE AND DECK IS OUTSTANDING!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

relaxing! calm.. clean.. exactly like the pictures show! bunch of bikes in the shed (some may need some air), 4 boats by the dock (1 is a 3 person boat), and really close to 2 towns with places to eat as well as small hang outs. fire pit was great for night time. all in all, it was a great time away from work and city hustling.Did you find this review helpful? The cottage experience was a perfect little place to get away for a few days...It was clean, what Deanna and Bruce said it would be,and in a perfect location... The lake is beautiful, the house is updated and I coudn't have asked for any more than what we experienced! A great, and quick little get away from the NY metro area.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2000
About the owner: Our family moved to the New York Hudson Valley area in 2000 from the west coast. Deanna has been a flight attendant for 26 years and enjoys both flying and being home . Our daughter Olivia is in high schooland has enjoyed the country life and Red Hook's wonderful school system. Bruce worked in hotel management on the west coast for 20 years and decided a different lifestyle was needed. We had only planned on staying here for a couple of years but fell in love with the area and community and decided to stay. We built a vacation rental on our lake property to give Bruce a project and combining Bruce's knowledge of the hotel business and Deanna's bed and breakfast background from Napa Valley , California, the lake cottage has evolved into a wonderful full time business. We are grateful to our many repeat guests and our new guests for making it such a success.
Why the Owner Chose Red Hook:
The location of our lake cottage is ideal for a getaway from the stress and fast pace of the city. The privacy and tranquility of the lake and cottage is so inviting and peaceful. We see wild life almost daily, such as deer, turkey or geese ,fox, rabbits , hawks, heron, swans and an occasional eagle. The wild life is abundant in the area.
