Masion des Pelerins is located right in the heart of the exquisite little village of Sablet, about nine kilometers (5 miles) south of Vaison la Romaine. It features modern amenities with the character and old world charm of a traditional Provencal home. Wonderful views from every window. Light airy and comfortable, the décor uses local materials and the craftsmanship of local artisans. The living room is spacious, ideal for relaxing - either with your favorite music, watching a movie or TV. A restful separate corner provides the ideal spot for reading or catching up on correspondence. The dining room is set up to enjoy those evenings when you wish to enjoy a special meal and a bottle of the excellent wine made right here in the area. A kitchen fully equipped to allow you to use those culinary skills, together with the incredible fresh ingredients (available at the many Markets in the area) to create magic. The table and comfortable chairs in the kitchen ensures that you will never be lonely in the kitchen whilst cooking.
From the kitchen, enjoy the view of the vineyards and the Dentelles de Montmirail or step outside through the French doors to the courtyard garden to snip fresh herbs and enjoy the ambience. Breakfast, lunch and dinner in the courtyard are especially magical. In the shadow of the old church, a soft glow from the lights of the steeple at night, the trickle of the fountain on a warm summer evening or a cool crisp Provencal morning. The graveled courtyard is landscaped in the traditional Provencal style. It provides and charming and intimate space. Of course, an olive tree - bordered by grape vines, climbing wisteria, lavender, rosemary and many other herbs - not to mention an antique fountain. The back wall of the old church (with grapes and wisteria climbing on it), makes up the back wall of the courtyard.
Upstairs in the oldest part of the house - tucked away under beamed ceilings you'll find two bedrooms and two bathrooms (one full bathroom and one with a shower and basin). The bedrooms are furnished and decorated for comfort, rest and relaxation. Both rooms are furnished with king sized beds and have windows that look out over the rooftops of Sablet, the nearby vineyards and the neighboring village of Seguret. The beds can be configured as two king sized beds or one king bed and two twin beds. Bedrooms are air conditioned to help you get a good night's sleep on those warm Provencal summer evenings.

Provence Dreaming? Wake up in Maison Des Pelerins
Year Purchased: 2005
The Unique Benefits at this House
Location! Location! Location! In the middle of the old village, inside the walls but with a private courtyard garden and wonderful views from every window (somewhat unique in villages where houses are huddled together at the expense of outside recreational space and sweeping views). We love smelling the fresh bread baking at the Boulangerie (one street below us in the village). Walking just about 2 minutes to the village for our fresh bread and pastries each morning. Maison des Pelerins has been remodeled, furnished and outfitted for comfort and convenience, yet retaining its old world charm. In Spring 2008, we added Air Conditioning in each bedroom - on the warm summer evenings, it was wonderful to have a cooled bedroom to retire to - we heard from many guests that they really appreciated it. Sablet is a quintessentially French living village - it is close to everything but off the beaten path, which makes it an ideal base to visit all parts of Provence, whatever your interest - History, art, wine, culinary interests, markets and so much more. Vaison la Romaine, Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, Marseilles, Cassis, Fontaine de Vaucluse, Isle sur la Sorgue, St. Remy de Provence and Les Baux de Provence are just some of the well known names that are between 10 min and 90 min from Sablet. Wine tasting is right at your doorstep as we are located in the heart of the Cote du Rhone Appellation with hundreds of wineries within a 30 min drive. The wonderful markets of Provence are all around, especially in Vaison la Romaine, Carpentras, Orange and Isle sur la Sorgue.

Can anyone be this lucky? We have the choice of two of the best places in the world to spend time in - scenic Northern California where we live, and our very special vacation home in the beautiful little village of Sablet in Provence. We fell in love with France in the 1980's while living in London and working in both London and Paris, then travelling extensively throughout France (in lots of campgrounds with two small children). After returning to California, we continued to visit France and especially Provence, until my wish to cook the wonderful food we were seeing at the many (many, many) markets we visited, took over and we rented a house in "our" village. That was when we (accidentally) found "Maison des Pelerins". It wasn't for sale at that time and we said, "too bad this house isn't on the market!" Well... a year later it was. We have thoroughly enjoyed owning our home, remodeling it and sharing it with our great guests who visit each year. We love hearing bout their vacations and love welcoming them back.
