Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2005
Hi, we are Mike and Mel. We live in NC and bought "The Sweet Spot" in May of 2005. We are married with two young girls, 4 yrs and 2 yrs, but that doesn't keep us from skiing! Mels's originally from NYC but is a UVA Cav. Mike is from Florida and is a Gator and a Nole - How's that possible??
We love the outdoors and make the 5.5 hour drive to Snowshoe most weekends in the summer to enjoy the cool air and beautiful views. We fell in love with Loggers Run #24 the first time we saw it. It's a real log cabin and we've decorated it with a Bear theme. If you visit us in the Summer, you are sure to meet "Rolly" the local Bear celebrity, who comes by most evenings at dusk! We love to ski at Snowshoe and love the convenience that Loggers 24 provides.
We have added the things to The Sweet Spot that we would want and expect from a luxury vacation home. Details like flat screen TVs, Netflix, wireless internet, great pots and pans, and Keyless entry. We also travel with our little ones, so we keep our high chair, bottle warmer, baby gates available to our guests too. We hope you come stay at our home away from home and make memories there just as we have over the years.
Why the Owner Chose Snowshoe
Snowshoe offers the best of both worlds - great skiing in the winter and excellent golf and hiking in the summer. We wanted our children to love and respect nature, and we found the perfect mix of wild and wonderful in WV.
Snowshoe is also a place you can drive. We love out-west skiing, but traveling by plane has become such a hassel these days, it's not worth it. You don't have to pay anything extra to LOAD up the car - no extra cost for each bag you check, and no flight delays in a winter snow storm. You can take what you want and get there on time at Snowshoe.
The Unique Benefits of this Townhome
The Sweet Spot is the BEST HOME in Loggers Run b/c it is the most accessible to the slopes, has keyless entry & it has an EXTRA PARKING SPACE. Anyone who has been to Snowshoe in the winter knows what a problem parking is. But not for us! You have THREE parking spots with us - one in the garage and TWO next to the unit. When it's 0 degrees on the mountain you will be so thankful of unloading/loading indoors. We are also the closest to the shuttle bus stop. You can wait inside the front door & watch for the bus to come by. Other Loggers Runs don't have that option because it’s too far to run.
The Sweet Spot is decorated as a home, not a sterile condo. We stay there too so it has all of the things you will need for your vacation. Things like spices in the spice rack, coffee filters, flash lights, & extra blankets. We've upgraded the place to make our guests feel at home. Many other units on the mountain are just rental units. The Sweet Spot is a home and you will feel that way with your family & friends there.
"The Sweet Spot Ghost" - Some guests say that our place has a "ghost". If you read our guest book there are stories of a friendly ghost that helps children escape from their rooms & pattering feet in the night. In one case the "ghost" helped a toddler escape from the confines of his crib to join his parents in their bed. Hmmm. I've not personally experienced the ghost, but we invite you to see if the legend of the Sweet Spot Ghost is true. Please tell us in the guest book.
“Bear Watch” - In the summer we love to get the daily visit from the friendly black bear "Rolly". Of course we don't feed him. We do enjoy his beauty from the balcony. Sunrises are amazing too, or at night, enjoy a cold beverage, sitting in the hot tub, watching the skiers or snow mobiles go by.
In 2009, Mike built our fire pit, located next to our town home. It has become a very popular place to gather, roast marshmallows and talk about the day's adventure

The "sweet spot" is as nice as it gets when it comes to a ski trip. The slope is practically right outside the door. The place is super comfy, even for a large group, immaculate and the fact that it is an end unit give it a private feeling. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a top quality getaway at Snowshoe. The owner was helpful, very easy to communicate with and accommodating with out travel schedule.
Owner response:Thanks so much for your great review!! The Sweet Spot is one of the only 5 bedroom homes that is truely on the slopes. We love that large groups and families can all enjoy the comfort of our home with the best access to the slopes and still have privacy and peace and quite when they need. Hope to have you back soon!

My friends and I stayed here for a long weekend in mid-March. We had stayed at several different condos over the past few years. None compare to this one. Perfect location! True ski-in, ski-out! More than enough room for larger groups. Could not have asked for a better condo, a better location, or a better price! Highly recommend! We will definitely be returning next year. (No need to seek out another condo...we have found the one we will continue to return to each year!)

We enjoyed a terrific family & friends gathering at this wonderfully appointed home. It provided us with a very well stocked kitchen, plenty of bedding for a variety of sleeping options, comfortable & plentiful areas to sit & to eat, the convenience of internet hook up for those who can't live without it, great tv reception & options in several room, magestic views from the hot tub on our private deck, plenty of room for our 5 cars, and very easy access to the ski slope. Truely a ski in- ski out location, which gave us the option to eat at the townhouse rather then the crowded & expensive ski lodges. We had no little ones, but there were plenty of baby supplies, sa cribs & highchair available. After our 3 night stay & terrific ski conditions, once home again, we received a lovely call from the owner asking about our stay, if it met all our needs, & if we could make any reccomendations to improve it...a very nice touch! The description & pics of the unit are accurate. The unit was very neat & clean & met all our expectations.. I'd definitely opt to stay here again & reccomend that you consider it as well. This was our second trip to Snowshoe and our second time to stay at the Logger's Run. This place is great, has plenty of room, is laid out very well, and a great place to walk out the back door, strap on your skis, and ski right down the mountain. It is perfectly located between the Top of the World and the Village so everything is close by - great place and a great time!!!!
Owner response:Thanks Dustin. We are so happy you chose us over any other Loggers Run. We are the only Loggers Run you can truly ski out the door. SWEET!

This was our first trip to Snowshoe, and we got lucky enough to end up with the best lodging on the entire mountain! We spent 4 nights in the "sweet spot" and couldn't be happier. The condo was big, clean and very well kept with plenty of room for all of us (4 adults and 6 children). The condo has direct access to the slopes so we literally snowboarded straight from our place each day. There is a shuttle bus stop directly outside the front door for easy access to the Village and Silver Creek. At night we used the huge jacuzzi on the balcony to ease our aches and pains. Nothing better than sitting in a 104 degree jacuzzi with the show falling on your head! The owner Melissa gave us lots of info before we even arrived which made planning our days ahead of time easy. There is free wifi, telephone, and virtually every amenity we could have ever needed. As I said, we couldn't have been happier and we will definitely be back. When we return, you can find us at the "sweet spot!" Thank you Melissa for everything and for allowing our family to use your wonderful home!!!
Owner response:Thank you Scott! We are so glad you found us! We are very meticulous with our cleaning and making sure our guests have everything they need for the perfect ski vacation. The jacuzzi is always a favorite especially when you can sit in the 104 degree water and watch the skiers or snowmobiles go by. See you next year at the Sweet Spot!

What a wonderful home in the mountains. Our family enjoyed our time together at the Sweet Spot! The home was very clean, well maintained and we had lots of room to spread out. It is well furnished and well outfitted. The hot tub on the porch was amazing!!! The kids really enjoyed the ski in and ski out. It is a good distance from the Village Center you can easily walk if it's not too cold. We loved it and we hope to go back again.
Owner response:Thank you Lisa. We appreicate you picking the Sweet Spot all the way from Santago, Chile and that it was perfect for your family. We hope to see you again when you are in the States.
