This charming chink log cabin is perched over the rolling property, distance mountains and nearby creek. Stone steps take you to the cabin with front and back decks for relaxing and rocking some time away. The interior of the cabin is as quaint as the exterior with a wood burning fireplace, hardwood floors and vaulted family bedroom loft. This private cabin offers a wonderful place to relax and play during your stay. Cozy and quaint stay from the 'setting in the past'.
Rustic Cabin Harmony is just one street away from the main thoroughfare to the Cataloochee Ski Mountain/Cataloochee Horse Ranch and 2 miles from the ramp to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We took this great vacation this year and did not want it to stay in a hotel and we now know for sure we took the right decision. This beautiful, Charmin, calm, cozy cabin was spectacular ! My kids, husband and myself just loved the time we spent in this place. We walked on the neighborhood and the view is stunning, specially the last day were we got up in the morning to a white patio/mountains, it was beautiful to see the snow in the morning. On our stay we visit the Chattahoochee ski area wish is just about 5 minutes away and had a great time. We do recommend anyone that is looking for a get away time from their busy lives to get there and enjoy each other by the fireplace, walk on the Blue Ridge, there are so many trails to walk, picnic and see the sunset in the mountains. Overall Mrs Julie does NOT over rate her property, at all.

Let me preface this review by noting that I have been in the travel business for some 30 years, and as such I know how properties often overstate their star rating - plus we've been visiting/renting in Maggie Valley for 15+ years so we've certainly had ample experience. Let me assure you that Rustic Cabin Harmony did not exaggerate its charm. Owner Julie was a delight to work with, making the entire booking process seamlessly smooth. The cabin itself provided a wonderful jumping off point to area attractions. Easily accessible by road, the cabin and its many amenities made our stay one of the best we've ever had in Maggie Valley. Thank you Julie for offering such an affordable, rustic and wonderful property. We hope to be back again soon!

Perfect place for us and our pup!
Perfect place for us and our pup!
We loved the cabin! Julie's rustic decor and special touches make it very comfortable and cozy. We were in the area for a wedding and needed a place that was pet friendly. We felt very comfortable leaving our dog in the cabin while seeing the sights and attending the wedding. The cabin is in a nice quiet area, but close enough to the restaurants and activities in the area. We had a great time! Thanks Julie!!

My daughter and I stayed at the cabin for a weekend and we fell in love with it! It was really hot (sweltering) when we got there, but once we turned the ACs on, it cooled down VERY well. We found the cabin very clean and tidy and equipped with everything we needed. AWESOME water pressure in the shower (kinda dark though). I loved the cabin. I tried to go online with my laptop and although there was an excellent wireless signal, it required a password. I called Julie (Lapkoff) to get the password and found out that the internet at the cabin is NOT wireless, there is a modem and cable upstairs. Julie is really nice :) The cabin is located in a great area; very quiet, and close to everything. We went to Asheville, Waynesville, Cherokee, and of course, Maggie Valley. I recommend this cabin to everyone. I plan to return as often as I can.

Owner response: Hello Lisa, I am glad you love the cabin.....just for your next visit, I just start a wireless service and renters will have the password. Thanks for tip and review. Although the cabin will stay rustic , we will have wireless and DSL for renters. See you on your next trip.

Only had one wash rag in the bath room lights were out overhead. Too close to other homes in the area to consider private.

My husband and I came to Rustic Cabin Harmony for valentines day and our wedding anniversary. It was just what we were looking for with all the rustic charm of a mountain home, close to outdoor activities; skiing, hiking in the Smokey Mountains, Cherokee, shopping in Waynesville, and relaxing by the fire in the evening. It was the perfect spot for us. Thank you Julie for your recommendations on nearby activities. Our stay was wonderful, will definitely return.

Cute cabin - but misleading
Cute cabin - but misleading
We had high hopes for an "old fashioned Christmas" in the mountains, but ended up coming home early. We booked the cabin for 4 nights (12/24/12 - 12/28/12), but ended up only staying for 2 nights. We were ensured firewood was provided, but when we arrived the "house book" said it had to be purchased (we spent $65 on wood just for the 2 days we were there - which isn't the issue, we had the money, but it was the principal. I am sure we would've had to spend another $65 for the following 2 days, had we stayed). Also, there were little wall heaters and while the upstairs heaters really cranked it out, the downstairs units were so insufficient we felt like we had to keep the fire going at all times (and then of course we felt like we couldn't leave the fire unattended - and so we kind of felt trapped in the cabin). Then, the first time I took a shower (oddly enough, my husband timed me and said I took no longer than about 8 minutes) I only had hot water for about the first 6 minutes. Then when my husband took a shower, he was so worried about running out of hot water that he turned the water on to get wet, then off to wash, and then on again to rinse (it kind of felt like we were camping out). I think we were also expecting a bit more privacy (the description said it was a private lot with lots of trees and that's what the pictures showed; as well as a fence), but when we arrived, it appeared as though the lot next door and behind the cabin had been clear cut . . . not to mention the fact that there was a large road right in front of the cabin, so there was no way we could let our dogs run, for fear they would get hit by a car. Also, not that this was an "issue" per se, but I believe it would affect older people, small children, individuals with disabilities, etc. and therefore this cabin would not be recommended for those demographics: I almost slipped and fell down the stairs every time I came down them (and I am an agile 32 yeard old) because the mini-rugs on each step were so slippery on the wood steps. They were nailed down, but there is still movement of the fabric on the wood and they didn't have any rug tape or adhesive of any kind keeping them in place. It's a cute cabin, but we just felt misled about the actual accomodations.

Owner response: Thanks for your feedback, Megan. Since owning the cabin, I have always enjoyed suggestions to continually improve on ways to make the mountain experience memorable and fun. One previous renter suggested screening in the back deck area and that was an improvement that has been enjoyed by many since being completed. With each renter, I provide enough firewood for one large fire for each day of their stay. Additional wood can be purchased by the bundle for 5 dollars throughout Maggie Valley. I do not keep huge stacks of wood on the property as this is not good for bugs and pest. I had a new water heater installed in 2012. Yes, the upstairs bedroom has two larger heaters to keep the sleeping area warm. Downstairs has two smaller heater for which I have added an extra just for those very cool day in winter or simply for extra warmth for those who need it. The hardwood floors and area rugs has always been enjoyed by renters, see positive reviews and review book in the cabin. The cabin is sitting on over half an acre with views of the mountains, countryside and ghost town in the sky. There are other homes in the area so not secluded but well spaced out. The lot is level to rolling, not too steep, so renters can walk the yard with pets or have an outside fire or kids can play outside.

What can I say.....except.....we had an amazing time!!!! This cabin was the perfect place to go for our honeymoon, I am a Florida native and I had never seen snow, Fall leaves or mountains and I saw all 3 in the week we were here in NC!!!! We are planning a trip to come back for our first anniversary. The most amazing thing about staying in the cabin was the quiet!!!! We live in Oralndo, FL and noise is all we hear, but not here. We would love to live in a place so quiet and calm and can't wait to come back. Thanks for the time of our lives!!! Shannon & Michael Palmer
