From right here on the Ranch during our main summer season, our guests may find fabulous fishing, with over a quarter mile of exclusive frontage along the pristine Rio Grande headwaters, as well as access to the many surrounding remote high-country creeks and lakes. From our summer refreshing cool air, to our winter snow covered heaven, Lost Trail Ranch offers a unique mountain paradise for those seeking the unsurpassed country experience. During the main summer season, from the porch of the Spruce Hollow cabin at Lost Trail Ranch, you can see the waters of the Rio Grande Reservoir, the mountains of the Weminuche Wilderness, and closer to come, horses grazing on pasture around the ranch. There is no better way to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the remote mountain wilderness than from the luxury and comforts of your own private cabin. Fishing, hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding can be pursued at your leisure. Or just sit back on your front porch and enjoy the sun set!
During the winter months, our guests come to a wonderful, wild winter paradise! At once, more remote, more secluded and far more comfortable than a hut, the Spruce Hollow Cabin at Lost Trail Ranch provides our Guests with a private and peaceful winter get-away in the heart of the San Juan Mountains, with winter sports at your doorstep! Miles of trails, both groomed and untouched, await you to enjoy a day of snow shoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, or just relaxing in the warmth and comfort of your cabin.

Year Purchased: 1995
Gin Getz, along with her husband Bob, and son Forrest, own and operate Lost Trail Ranch, the high mountain resort and outfitters on the headwaters of the Rio Grande in the San Juan Mountains of southern Colorado. On the edge of the Weminuche Wilderness with the Rio Grande winding across their private property, this remote mountain get-away is about as close to heaven as you can imagine. Off grid and off the beaten trail, with breathtaking views in all directions, we hope you find yourself at home here.
Why the Owner Chose Creede
Each morning, as we awake to the sound of the distant falls in the river, geese flying over head, elk bugling in the distance, and the absence of traffic, pressure, stress, and schedules - we find ourselves saying "it's another beautiful day in paradise." We strive to provide a place where our guests, too, can feel the same, feel at home, and feel they have found their own paradise. We believe there is no place more beautiful, though perhaps some can equal the magnificence of this unspoiled mountain land surrounding our ranch and our cabins. With only four rental cabins during our main season, and two during the winter season, there are no crowds here. It is quiet, peaceful, laid back, tranquil. Although our guests and visitors often find time to fish, hike, four wheel drive, horseback ride, explore, photo safari and more in the unlimited miles of trails and back roads throughout the San Juan National Forest and Weminuche Wilderness that surround us, it seems the most popular activity is... resting. Not too many places it's still OK to unwind, kick back, and enjoy the view. Seems like this little bit of paradise still allows people the time and space and stress free environment to do just that, from the comfort of the private, beautiful, modern, recently renovated cabin.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
Spruce Hollow Cabin at Lost Trail Ranch is privately tucked away on the ranch into the Blue Spruce and Aspen, with big bright southern picture windows flooding the cabin with that intense Colorado sunshine during the day, or a view of the endless stars at night. Spruce Hollow is a lovely two bedroom cabin with an additional sleeping loft, fully furnished with a full kitchen, full bathroom and comfortable living/dining area. Tile floors, aspen paneled walls and ceiling, stained glass window, log wall construction, wood stove, stone work in the bathroom... these are a few of the special touches that make this cabin endearing, a truly comfortable "home away from home" for our guests who chose to return year after year to "their" cabin. Completely off grid, though with satellite internet connection, the cabin has a full sized propane hot water heater, fridge/freezer, oven/stove, heater and back up lights, fully stocked kitchen with all the pots, pans and plates you'll need for your stay... all you'll need is your linens (we're far away from the Laundromat here!) and your groceries for your stay. Chances are once you're here, you may never want to leave. At the very least, we sincerely hope, you'll be back!
