A perfect hide-away

Guest: Patrick & Susan (St Paul, MN)
Date of Stay: 04/08/12 Review Submitted: 04/16/12

My fiancé & I just returned from a week stay at Karen & Paul’s hide-away. This was our 2nd visit in two years and this is the first time I have ever done a repeat visit for any vacation get away. The reason? This is easily one of the most tranquil and relaxing locations we have ever visited. The house is designed to take in all the natural elements; the ocean views, the sound of the waves crashing, the trade winds flowing the house…this is a remarkable get-away in a remarkable part of the world. Both Karen and Paul are perfect hosts, through the planning stage and during the visit. They have mastered the art of being out of sight and respecting your privacy unless there is something you need. The people of Anguilla are very open & hospitable as well, always smiling and quick to say “Good-morning”. If a special get-away is in the plans, La Petite Maison D'Amour should be seriously considered for a very memorable vacation. Karen and Paul – thanks again for another fabulous week.

Wonderful Getaway

So, my wife and I just returned home from Anguilla after completing our second week long stay at La Petite Maison d'Amour in just 9 months. I swear this place is like heaven on earth. Karen provides you with everything that you might need from the moment you arrive on the island to the regretful moment that you have to leave. Once you book your stay, she is kind enough to send you a document that gives you all of the information you might need to get to Anguilla as well as information on dining (inexpensive, moderate, exepensive), entertainment, activities, etc. Upon your arrival, she has your transportation already arranged, while she and Paul await your arrival to the home. Once there, they are completely incognito unless you need them and then they are readily available. Karen will make dinner reservations, massage appointments, catamaran reservations, etc.(obviously only during the months that she is actually there). In addition, the house stays absolutely spotless because Pam comes in on a daily basis (except for Sundays) to clean the place from top to bottom (including linens). I'm telling you, it's like staying at a resort without the resort, all of the people at a resort and most importantly without the cost of a resort! My wife and I will always cherish our time at La Petite Mainson d'Amour and we hope to make it back every year. If you are looking for a quite getaway that is peaceful, relaxing, fun, romantic, etc........do yourself a favor and give this a shot. IT IS AWESOME!!!!!

Simply the Best Vacation Spot Ever

La Petite Maison d'Amour is a lovely home on the beach in Anguilla. Karen's home is in a beautiful location on the island overlooking St. Martin. The home is just our cup of tea: private, quiet, and elegant. Karen, the owner, actually built this masterpiece with her own hands. It is a work of art. We are making our sixth visit to La Petite Maison d'Amour this November, and we always go to experience the tranquility of Karen's home. We always make our vacation plans with La Petite Maison d'Amour as our first choice. We have never been disappointed with anything in Anguilla and at La Petite Maison d'Amour. This is a great place to stay. You are in for an experience you will never forget.

We spent a week here and then wished we'd booked it for a month. The place is very clean, it is well maintained and has a fabulous view. The owners could not have been nicer or more gracious. They were extremely helpful when we had questions or sought recommendations. The pre-arrival communication with Karen via email was prompt and thorough. She helped with finding a ferry at the St. Maarten airport and had a rented car waiting for us when we arrived. The guest comment book at the house shows we are not the only ones who thoroughly enjoyed every minute here. This place is highly, highly recommended.

Outstanding! Over-the-top! Unforgettable! These are just a few adjectives to describe this beautiful hidden gem on the island of Anguilla. La Petite Maison d’Amour is just that - ‘a little house of love’. We so enjoyed the understated elegance that surrounded and captivated us for seven magical days and nights. We arrived with open minds and what we received far exceeded our expectations. The natural beauty outside, panoramic ocean view, rhythms of the waves and warm Caribbean breezes washed over us day and night. Inside, the enchanting West-Indies architecture, decor and free-flowing design allowed the island’s beauty to saturate our senses with peace and tranquility. The owners met all of our needs quietly and discreetly. Maid service was excellent. We felt pampered all the time we were there. After having traveled the Caribbean extensively, we rate both the island of Anguilla and La Petite Maison d’Amour a perfect ten and we intend to return to this magical often.

My husband and I wanted to find the perfect "get-away from it all" location for our 20th anniversary trip and we found it in Anguilla at La Petite Maison D'Amour! The villa is the perfect size for a couple, not too big, not too small. We enjoyed cooking dinner and eating on the front porch while watching the sun set. We loved feeding the soldier crabs and watching the sugar birds in the trees. The weather was nice and warm. The beaches were breathtakingly beautiful. The locals were friendly and helpful. The owners were more than gracious hosts, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit with them. We HIGHLY recommend La Petite Maison D'Amour to anyone looking for a quiet spot for a romantic get away.

Better than We Could Imagine

We stayed in La Petit Maison d'Amour in December 2010. From the moment we first stepped foot on the property, we loved it. The pictures cannot convey how great this place is. The sound of the ocean waves is always there; a luscious tropical breeze wafts in constantly. Each room and patio is exquisitely pleasing to the senses and comfortable. The gardening and landscaping have a lovely personal touch, with birds and other wildlife. Karen --the owner --provided information, tips, and very gracious hospitality, even before we arrived. In fact, Karen designed every aspect of the house --from architecture to decor. Her vision and sensibility for this house are evident everywhere, including the color schemes and artwork. I am not a "New Age"-leaning person, but there truly is a "vibe" in this house that makes it one of the most romantic places I've ever been. We enjoyed exploring Anguilla with a car, and getting to see the incredible beauty, meet the wonderful people, and explore an island that we were sad to leave. We will definitely be back.

We just spent 6 of the most incredble days of our 25 years of marriage at La Petite Maison d'Amour. Time became immaterial as we enjoyed a true merging of inside and outside living, waking up to a breathtaking view of the Caribbean and St. Martin, relaxing on private porches listening to the waves crashing just feet from us, lovely gardens and a beautiful aqua and pink house with unexpected and delightful details. Karen, the owner, provided everything we needed to prepare for the trip via mail and email; everything we needed once we arrived--taxi from the ferry, rental car at the house, picnic basket, snorkeling gear, beach chairs and umbrella to use on Karen's often-private beach and of course Pamela who not only kept the place spotless with fresh flowers but offered kind advice about the difference between bananas and plantains. All of which made it possible for us to experience island living -- wonderful restaurants, grocery shopping, sightseeing, visiting with local people -- without the confinement of a resort property. Even with all the sightseeing opportunities and activities on Anguilla, we most enjoyed relaxing at the house and nearby beach. The beauty and comfort is unparalleled. We highly recommend this property to any couple seeking solitude, serenity and the chance to reconnect with each other.

Love is in the air!

If you are a romantic and enchanted by the warm sun, azure sea, and clear skies of the Caribbean, you will love this villa. We have stayed at Petite Maison 5 times in the last 8 years and consider it our heart’s “home.” The place has charm, privacy, convenience, comfort, cleanliness, a spectacular setting, beautiful landscaping, and everything you need for a fabulous vacation. Karen (the owner) designed and built the house and I really believe that she somehow managed to infuse love into every pink and aqua inch. Karen and Paul are thoughtful and helpful hosts who are there when you need them and invisible when you don’t. Several weeks before your scheduled arrival Karen sends her “pink letter” filled with valuable information about transportation, shopping, eating, cooking, beaching, boating, you name it, and she knows it! When you arrive you are greeted by your own personal taxi driver, a stocked fridge (there’s always water and Ting but they will do a more extensive shop if you ask) and your rental car will be at the house as well. Then the rest is up to you. You can spend days without leaving the property (except to scramble over the rocks to “Karen’s beach”) and other days sampling spectacular beaches and delicious restaurants from one end of the island to the other. Anguilla is a special island made even more special by this amazing place. Enjoy!

Wonderful Vacation

Mark and I just spent an amazing 10 days at this lovely home. Karen and Paul were the perfect neighbors offering us wonderful stories, great island tips and exciting places to visit. We had complete privacy! This home is beautiful, peaceful and spacious. We enjoyed morning coffee and evening wine on the patio overlooking the clear blue ocean and our walks and afternoon or morning dip in the cove just steps away. There is so much to see and do on this island. Everyday was an adventure driving to new beaches, taking long walks, and drinking rum punches. We are already saving for next years visit! Monica and Mark, Philadelphia PA

Owner response:Monica and Mark were the perfect guests. Considerate, thoughtful, and respectful of the island, the Anguillian people, and La Petite Maison d'Amour. We look forward to their return.

Our 8th Stay

Ten years ago, my wife and I asked a good friend to recommend a peaceful island with wonderful beaches, restaurants and people. Her only suggestion was Anguilla, and it has remained for us a sanctuary for two weeks every year. My wife spotted La Petite Maison right away, we stayed there in January, 2002, and we have never once thought of going anyplace else for a winter vacation. Karen's house, as we call it, is secluded, beautifully landscaped, cozy yet airy, with wonderful views. My wife says this place is heaven; it's certainly close. The location, at the end of the road on a small inlet with waves breaking a few feet away and a wonderful little beach 50 paces close, gives us all the privacy we want, and is a great location for getting anywhere on the island.....when we want to. We can take long walks, wave and talk to very nice people, read, nap, swim, eat, and recharge without ever leaving the house. And the other reviews are right....the pictures don't do justice to the beauty and care that come with the house. It's the feeling of being just where you'd like to be that is the most valuable for us. We truly look forward all year to our time in this wonderful place, and the joy and comfort it provides.

We recently visited Anguilla for our 27th Honeymoon. Our stay at LaPetite Maison was perfect. We travel far and often and generally stay in rental homes, and have been quite pleasantly surprised by finding such fortune with our internet search. This home far exceeded our expectations. We felt like we were family friends being treated to a gift. The owners completely understand how to offer complete privacy while at the same time are available for any question or need. The home is warm and welcoming and ALL needs are thought through and conveniently provided. The views are spectacular and the private beach is a one minute walk to heaven. To sum it up J O Y and F U N, what more could you want. J and B

Perfect Romantic Setting for Two

Pictures on their website do not do it justice. The views are amazing from every door&window…including the view from the bathrm! It looks like a framed painting as my niece exclaimed when she saw the pictures. Accomodation is comfy&cozy. It was designed&built w/great care to ensure full privacy. It’s a great place to relax&hang out.Grounds are large enough so that u don’t run into any neighbors&u feel like the entire surroundings are just for u.Yet the house is conveniently located&a short drive to restaurants, shops, other beaches, etc. Tree in the entrance parking area is beautifully lit w/holiday lights at night. There is a small garden to watch the sugarbirds, hummingbirds, hermit crabs,&lizards. There are 2patios to choose from depending on whether you're looking for shade/sun.The bed is very comfortable w/top quality sheets&cover. The kitchen is well equipped. The beach is just a short walk away. It is less than a min. walk/longer if you stop to collect seashells&"seaglass".There’s a small tree to give you a bit of shade in the afternoon&it is practically ur own private beach(btw, all beaches are public inAnguilla). We only ran into a few people while we were there for a wk. The owners occupy the top floor. We hardly heard them nor noticed whether they were in/not.They proved to be perfect innkeepers-extremely friendly&always providing invaluable info on restaurants, shopping&local insight. At one point,I wanted to find something(a particular gift item)but couldn’t find it in any store. They were able to tell me exactly which store to go. Service was impeccable&very attentive. They sometimes knew what we wanted before we even thought about it.They provided us w/a lot of info before the trip too.U only have to ask…all ur questions will be answered. They will even stock ur refrigerator before your arrival!!! Probably 1 of the best overall values of any place we've stayed out in the Carribean! I can’t think of any negative aspects about the place.Maybe if I had to pick on something there were mosquitoes&tiny ants but those are all tropical island nuisances¬ related to the house.Bed mosquito net&coils were100%effective at night. Best part?Pick ur choice:1waking up in the morning looking out over turqoise water w/the view of StMaarten,2lounging at ur own "private" beach,3quickly running out to any no. of terrific gourmet restaurants,4gazing at the SouthernCross&thousands of stars at night,5just hanging out in the perfect romantic setting for 2.

La Petite Maison is a little piece of paradise that was obviously designed with love and care. If you enjoy the architecture of the Caribbean and being a part of nature, this is the place to stay. You will not find a more private, peaceful location or better views, both day and night. While there are many fabulous beaches to explore on the island, what could be better than having your own private beach steps away. A hard place to leave!

The photos on the website do not prepare you for the real thing ! La Petite Maison d'Amour is such a work of art. From the gardens and pathways to the actual home. Beautifully designed and lovingly cared for...it is a treat just to be there. Fall asleep to the sound of the waves and wake up with a fabulous view of St. Martin and the sea. Every window and door is strategically placed for views and yet so private. Collect beautiful shells on the beach nearby while enjoying a very quiet beach setting just steps from your door. No need went unwhile we were there. What a lovely setting for a taste of Anguilla.

What a treasure! This villa was designed to provide you with amazing views of the ocean. It is a masterpiece of architecture. The best part...you are only foot steps away to your own private beach. You will be spoiled by this romantic, beautiful sea side villa. It has every ammenity you need. Just bring your clothes...mostly bathing suits and your will be prepared. The housekeeper will help you with anything else you may need during your stay. If you decide to venture out "La Petit Maison D'Amour" is conveniently located close to many, many fantastic beaches and scrumptious restaurants. I am well traveled & Anguilla has the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. The restuarants are also superb.Scuba diving is fantastic. There is so much to see and do in Anguilla. Just be careful...you may want to stay forever in Anguilla. It is that good!

What an awesome place! Sleep with your bedroom doors open facing the Caribbean Sea, the moon glistening on the water, showering while viewing the sea, two patios with awesome views, and being only footsteps from your own private beach...What more can you want? We didn't even want to venture out in the evening because of the gorgeous view. After 34 years of marriage, we will never be able to top this trip. The owner was very helpful with information, the place was immaculate and they supplied all your beach gear. We would most certaintly recommend La Petite Maison d'Amour to anyone traveling to the Caribbean...It is so easy to get to by boat from St Maarten. This place has put a spark in our life and left us with some beautiful cherished memories. If you are looking for a heavenly romantic trip, you have found it! Enjoy!

This home is a wonderful place for a vacation. The location is private, the house is lovely, and the views of St. Martin outstanding. The owner was staying upstairs when we visited, but that didn't affect our privacy and she had valuable information to offer about Anguilla. La Petite Maison is a great place to visit.
