OK place but the rental experience was agonizing

The rental experience was agonizing. The Property Manager (PM) was surly and completely unresponsive to the many problems we experienced in our stay. We arrived to a smoke alarm beeping--low battery. Called the PM for maintenance. After four hours called again and were told "it's hard to get support on the weekend". Got a neighbor with a 40 foot ladder to scale the 40 foot ceiling to remove the smoke detector. Tried the bar-b-que and it would not heat up. Called the PM and she said the bar-b-que was fine. Bought a new gas tank and the bar-b-que would not heat . Called the PM and her position was that we ( 1 Stanford PHDEE, 1 UCSB PHDME, and 1 UCSB PHD history) did not know how to operate a gas bar-b-que. PM said she would send someone to show us how to operate the bar-b-que. No one ever showed up. We examined the bar-b-que and found the gas line from the gas tank to the burners was loose--re-tightened and were able to bar-b-que. The basin in the second master was completely clogged. We used two full strength Drainos to unclog. On the cable TV, we could only get the weather channel. Did not bother to call the PM because we were not interested in watching TV and to that point the PM had been non-responsive. The cabin had a neighbor's number to call if things were awry. Called the number, but the number was no longer in service. That was useful! Finally the contract states that the deposit would be returned 10 days after the rental. Emailed the PM after three weeks and the PM said that she forgot to return the security deposit. If you rent this place, remember you are on your own--bring your ladder and tool kit. Although the place is nice, I will never rent it again. I want to enjoy my vacation rather than spending my time doing maintenance on a rental unit. Mike (Phd EE Stanford University '63)

It is very nice and upscale. Great location!!! We had a great time!!!
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.
