My husband and I wanted to bring his youngest nephew who is graduating from College this winter as his Grad gift.. His last semester has been his hardest and he needed a break... this was a perfect solution... for all of us to just "get away" from the hustle n bustle... not once did he think of school, nor did my husband think of work... I unfortunately did a lil work the 1st few days but it was such a great place I wasn't stressed.. This area was such a nice change from 'da Swamps of Louisiana - no humidity, no O2 (hahaha) now that was an adjustment. Definitely on me and my husband's radar again!!!

We have stayed at Michael's cabins 3 different times now and as always it is a comfortable and enjoyable experience. We loved this cabin and the view from the living room window and deck is gorgeous. We truly felt we were all alone. All of Michael's cabins are so well equipped. We were determined to "stay put" this long weekend and this was the perfect place to do it. We brought our own food, music and books (altho there are plenty of books at the cabin) and just had a very relaxing and restful time - absolutely everyting else we could want is provided. As always when we leave, we start thinking about the next time we can come back.

We truly enjoyed the three days we spent at the cabin. The description and pictutres didn't do justice as to how beautiful the surrounding area as well as the accommodations were. The property was well maintained while keeping its rustic and natural appearance. The owner was extremely helpful throughout the rental process. Probably one of the most memorable experiences was at the Safeway parking lot in Evergreen. A herd of 30-40 elk came wandering through and it created quite a stir. The last day we stayed we spent in downtown Evergreen. The quaint little shops were quite enjoyable and we had lunch at a restaurant that had an outdoor patio which overlooked a trout stream. Our last night we spent at the nearby Red Rocks amphitheater. We got to experience the music of the 70's rock group Chicago which was accompanied by the Colorado symphony. What a great experience!! If you are looking for a place to unwind from the daily pressures of life while still being within reasonable driving distance of the local attractions I would highly recommend renting this cabin.

I visited Canyon House with three other authors in July. Other than our excited chatter, it was quiet there which lent beautifully to a creative and productive weekend. The house was clean but not stuffy. We immediately made ourselves at home, then had to leave much too soon. I'm hoping to be able to go up again next summer!

Our visit to Canyon House was picture perfect. From the moment that you open the door, you feel as if you are at home. The house has all the aminities that are needed for a relaxing stay, or as a good central location for sightseeing, hiking, biking, or family get aways. We awoke one morning to view a huge elk standing in the back yard off of the deck. The weather was beautiful while we were there, being from Missouri, the break from the humidity was a blessing. We had excellent cell reception, so communication should not be a problem for anyone. We will surely be back to colorado soon, and will not hesitate to stay at one of michaels properties next time.

Three of my writing friends and I escaped to the mountains of Evergreen for a wonderful weekend write out. This was our first visit to Canyon House, but it most definitely will not be our last. We already have two more weekends booked for this summer and I can't wait. Canyon House with it's spacious living area and magnificent views was more than we could have dreamed. Sitting along a quiet mountain road, surrounded by stands of Ponderosa Pine and Aspen, Canyon House was just what we all needed to get down to business on our writing. Of course, we ventured out on several long walks to clear our fuzzy heads and rest our eyes. On our walk on Friday evening we came across a heard of enormous, beautiful elk bedding down for the night. And as we prepared dinner on Saturday evening in the cozy, well equipped kitchen, just outside our kitchen windows, only a few feet away we spied a red fox scurrying across the rocks. We had plenty of room for four ladies to stretch out and relax and get away from one another to focus on our writing, but the soft leather furniture and hand hewn pine tables in the living room, surrounded by windows with magnificent views, also lent the perfect ambiance to fellowship and chatting away a few hours. As are all of Michael Carter's rentals that I've rented, Canyon House was well equipped and sparkling clean. The Colorado Southwest theme in colors and furnishings lends perfectly to the rustic yet comfortable mountain environment. All the comforts of home, with the quiet, serene forest and mountain vistas. Who could ask for more?

I have family in Colorado I was visiting but I wanted my "own" home for part of my trip and Michael's cabin was absolutely perfect! It was comfortable, well equipped and felt like a home. I wanted to host a family picnic and Michael was very accommodating, the house provided the perfect setting for it and everyone had a great time. It is a bit out of town but not really that far and his instructions made it easy to find. We had a family of deer visit us both evenings we were there and they provided lots of fun. I would certainly stay again.

Our stay at Canyon house was very relaxing and the accomodations were very nice and well up-kept. Micheal was very accomodating on providing information about local hiking and bike rentals. He was very gracious about helping us out during out stay there. We loved the seclusion, the quietness and the beautiful scenery. The furnishing were very comfortable and felt like "home". Thank you Micheal for being a wonderful host and will look you up for future trips to Colorado!

What a great surprise! The pictures on the listing do not do the cabin justice. I was pleasantly surprised at how well maintained and comfortable the interior is. The cabin is several miles from town (Evergreen) so we packed all that we needed and cooked out at the cabin. The back patio is private and surrounded by trees. There is a rock outcropping just off the deck but we were too tired to explore. There is not a patio table so we had to improvise for outdoor dining. FYI- there isn't an internet connection there but I have AT&T and got good reception. I would certainly recommend this to friends and would go back again myself. When I was looking for a place to rent, I saw that Michael had several options. I called him to see what he suggested to best suit our needs. He chose the Canyon House for us and it was a perfect fit. Thank you Michael!

Nicely appointed inside with a great view from the back deck. Extremely prompt with deposit return (same day as checkout) and the service couldn't be better.

I recently stayed in at the Canyon House at Trails End in Evergreen and I have to say I was pleasantly surprise. It was the perfect place for my boyfriend and I to spend quality time with friends. The cabin was truly a home away from home. The property is tastefully decorated and Michael makes sure you have all the information you need to make your stay a pleasant experience. I would certainly recommend this to friends and family and I am looking forward to coming back myself. Michael thanks again for your hospitality!!! I’m looking forward to staying at one of your other properties in the next couple of months.

Words cannot describe our experience at this cabin...amazing is a start! When I first read "cabin" while looking for places to stay in Evergreen, I worried because I didn't want too rustic. This home is a very nice, spacious home that is very clean and modern without taking away from the theme and remoteness of the location. We spent a week here the day after Christmas in 2009 and will definitely be returning to visit Mr. Carter, the owner. He was available when needed, but not overbearing, and he was extremely gracious, giving, and helpful. His directions to the house were exact and perfect. If you go in the winter as we did, you MUST make certain you have a 4x4 (our rental agency erred and sent us in a two-wheel drive pickup that, under normal Evergreen snow conditions, wouldn't have made it). The kitchen has the accoutrements necessary for the cooking we did at the cabin, and the washer/dryer were a huge bonus! Also, there was an abundant supply of nice, thick towels and washcloths for our use. Our next trip to Colorado will definitely be spent in one of Mr. Carter's cabins!

Our stay at this cabin was truly a great experience. Everything seemed really clean, spacious, and at home- but with the get away feeling. The room is very large, including a walk-in closet. The kitchen was great to cook, plenty on necessary items. The morning views are amazing! Plenty of privacy, and only about ten minutes from the closest town. I recommend it for anyone trying to get- away, or have a romantic weekend.

We were so pleasantly surprised when we arrived and entered the cabin; it's lovely and so well kept that we felt like we were the first to stay there! "Cabin" seems a bit rough - this is a nicely finished and furnished small home. Along with everything you need to cook, it is loaded with a variety of books, from classics to current to coffee-table, some cds and dvds, in case you want to sample something else. It's very comfortable and we felt immediately at home. (The bed is a premium mattress and is super comfortable too!) We were there in late September; just as the aspen were turning. It was Indian summer and the mild temperatures and warm sun allowed us to sit on the deck, grill a steak, sip wine and enjoy the green and gold view. Heavenly! This cabin a nice balance of being a reasonably short drive from Evergreen (and stores near I-70) and remote enough for the peace and quiet that allows you to hear only the light rush of wind through the trees. It is remote enough (the last few minutes of driving is after the pavement ends, but still county roads) that you need to use the directions that the owner provides to get there. He warns you about problems with internet maps and GPS nav systems, and he is right. We had all three, and his directions were (of course) correct. The owner also provides great information so you are already a jump ahead in preparing for your stay. He is personable, helpful, unobtrusive but easy to contact in case you have any other questions or concerns. We asked, and he gave some of his own time to visit with us and talk about Evergreen and life in the area in general. We use Verizon, and had great cell reception, and with our personal broadband card, had a fast 3g-rev-a connection. This is a great place at a fantastic price that can't be beat. We feel lucky that we found it and started missing it as soon as we closed the door to leave. We have every intention of returning. We rate it the best, 5 stars out of 5.
