Very private woodsy site, yet near conveniences. Walk to Garwoods restaurant or the beach! A great 'get away from it all'... place!
This all pinewood Mountain Retreat has old Tahoe charm in every room. New kitchen & baths with lovely mountain furnishings make this home a comfortable family retreat for all seasons. Relax on a huge sunny deck or enjoy the warmth of a crackling wood fire. The sun room is a great place to awaken for breakfast before embarking on a backyard ski into the national forest. Adventurous skiers can ski from the cabin and summit Mt Pluto at Northstar resort, then ski back.
Comfortably share the Tahoe experience with friends or another family. A separate playroom/TV room, away from the living room make for quiet adult apres ski conversation while enjoying the stone hearth or outside deck. Off the playroom, an outside sandy badminton/volleyball court or Bocce or Croquet in the backyard make this ideal for young kids. Sports equipment in cabin.
The cabin sleeping arrangements are:
Bedroom 1 with 'Queen Log Bed' and exterior deck.
Bedroom 2 with 'Queen Log Bed' and exterior deck.
Bedroom 3 with 'Log Bunk Bed' twin mattress over full size mattress.
Bedroom 4 with full size bed-separate room off the loft with low ceiling-for kids or small adults
Twin mattress in the loft
Full size pull out couch in Family room.
Gas BarBQue on the deck; sometimes an igloo is in backyard... courtesy of my kids.

We rented this home on short notice and the owners were great at working with us. The fireplace was wonderful for sitting around and talking. The sun room was a place to soak in the morning sun and drink coffee.. It was a relaxing retreat. It is a dog friendly cabin well maintained.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, pet owners.
Owner response: Thanks for the review, great everything worked out in very short order and that you enjoyed your stay! Steve

We stayed at Steve and Dorthy's cabin for four nights in February and had a great time! The neighborhood was lovely and houses are far enough apart that you could go sledding in between them. The kids went to ski school at Alpine Meadows (look for the 10-pack lesson deal online) and then we returned to the cabin each evening for some sled and snow play. It was wonderful that the cabin was stocked with sleds, games, books, magazines and even condiments. I appreciated having two separate living rooms so the kids could play games or watch TV in one room and adults could relax and talk in the other. The beds were very comfortable, the entire place clean and well-maintained. Since two families shared the cost right down the middle, I was glad there wasn't a clear "master" bedroom that appeared a cut above the rest. All of us got nice bedrooms and were happy. It even had a new washer/dryer and other nicer amenities that we haven't found at other rental cabins. I spent a ton of time shopping around for a cabin that would be just right and am thrilled with this location. It will be our home base for Tahoe vacations from now on and I won't hesitate to recommend it to my friends (as long as they promise not to book it when we want to go ourselves!).Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: yee haa...thanks Steve

We stayed for two nights in mid-March. The cabin looks newly remodeled and is in pristine condition. We loved the sun nook and the kitchen was very well-stocked with supplies. The beds were very comfortable and the temperature of the cabin was perfect from beginning to end. There was firewood waiting for us in the fireplace. The only minor downside was that we had to put on chains to drive up the driveway, but we were glad that there was snow on the ground to require that!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for the wonderful review...yes we always recommend for guests traveling during winter to have 4 or all-wheel drive. Our drive has a slope to it that, when snowing, requires greater traction. Thanks again Steve

Best experience I've ever had in renting a cabin. The home itself is beautiful, though a bit smaller than it looked in the picture, and Steve was very helpful with explaining the best areas around the cabin and providing directions. Both children and adults had a great time up there and it's definitely a place we'd like to stay at again! Thanks Steve!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This cabin home is truly a wonderful retreat, and my entire party was really happy with it. Cozy, warm decor, and well-provisioned. We all had a lovely time, and everyone commented on how happy they would be to rent this home again in the future. The owner was a real pleasure to "work" with, and I really appreciated his responsive yet laid back demeanor.Owner response: Thank you for your very kind words! Steve

My spouse, two adult children and grandchild has a fabulous six days in this sweet Tahoe cabin. It was cozy, warm and very nicely equipped for our Thanksgiving holiday. It was as advertised and nice and clean!! The cabin allowed for enough togetherness and space for time apart to suit us ... and we loved the sunny dining area! Steve was so responsive and the instructions were perfect! We highly recommend this cabin and would love to return in the summer.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: thank you so much for the thoughtful review! steve

We stayed here with our two dogs over Labor Day weekend. The house has a very rustic feel, perfect for that "get away from it all" weekend. This would be a fun house with kids - lots of nooks and crannies perfect for hide-and-seek. Families will enjoy the volleyball court, games, and fireplace. This house can sleep a lot of people, and the large chair in the living room is the perfect spot for an afternoon nap. The owners are very nice, and great to work with! Be sure to grab breakfast at the Old Post Office Cafe - delicious!Recommended for: Pet owners.
Owner response: Our Favorite!!!..."The Old Post Office Cafe"...a true Tahoe gem...less then a mile walk from the house!

There are few things that really stood out for us..Our entire family of 4 adults and 4 kids had the best time of our life.. # 1. The location of this cabin is very convenient. It is really close to all the outdoor activities. The cabin is for getting away from hustle and bustle of the city life. It is nestled in a quite neighbourhood - yet conveniently located. # 2. The hosts are excellent - amicable, easygoing and very cooperative. They provided meticulous instructions throughout the cabin. The brochure, maps and other info provided by the host were very detailed and up to date. Just read it. If you have any questions - just read it.. # 3. The volleyball area is awesome. # 4. Porch is really nice with all the amenities # 5. The entire cabin is designed and equipped keeping in mind the needs of a family. It feels like a home.. Wish there was a hot tub to splash into..after a hard day of trekking... But there were so many other things that it didn't really matter at all..Next time - Should we decide to go to Lake Tahoe, I would stop looking around and just rent this again... Our Children's review: Staying at the lake tahoe cabin gave everyone in our group a wonderful experience. The relaxing and cozy cabin made us feel right at home. Although we did many activities outside the cabin, while we were in the cabin we relaxed and layed back. Cooking and preparing meals together was a blast. The utilities work very well and we had no problems in using anything. Every amenity you needed at home was there. We were glad that there was a sitting arrangement outside on the deck. Just sitting outside in the California weather made everything peaceful. During the evenings we loved listening to music out of the music player. We were thankful to have so many games to keep us busy during late nights. There was nothing more fun then sitting in a cozy cabin filled with so many fun games especially cards. The lake tahoe cabin was definitely the most relaxing cabin our family has ever stayed in.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: WOW!

We really enjoyed a relaxing and adventurous vacation at Steve's cabin. For the first part of the week, it was just my wife, my daughter and me. Then we were joined by a family of four for the last part of the week. The vacation rental worked out great. There was some good hiking nearby, beaches are close, and a range of restaurants. One thing that I particularly liked about the house was that there were a few separate areas to hang out (family room, TV area, out on the deck, etc.) so that we were not on top of each other. And Steve was great to deal with. THANK YOU.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for the kind review, we love when people truly enjoy Tahoe as much as we do!
