In the heart of West Seattle, this turn of the century Sweet Orange Craftsman is available for your next visit! This colorful, carefully-crafted home has a spacious 1200 sq ft of living space with 2BR/1BA. A delightful bonus is a partial view of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Hardwood floors, large custom rugs and tasteful furnishings invite you in. Curl up next to the gas fireplace in the winter or bask on the sunny deck, in the summer. BBQ on your Stok grill. The king master bedroom adjoins a small sun porch with a 2nd flat screen TV and a twin sofa pull-out. The guest room opens with french doors to the view deck, with a patio umbrella. The house has all the usual amenities and is super clean and well-cared for.

For larger groups, add on the totally cozy, artsy 900 square foot full Mother-in-Law suite, with another 2 BR/1BA of open floor plan, on the lower level. Tile mosaics and rich colors everywhere, with a huge master bedroom and bath. French doors open off the bright living room onto a large covered deck with table and chairs. The garden calls you out into the sun or bake inside next to the freestanding gas fireplace.

The Sweet Orange is two short blocks to the Junction - an urban village of shops, restaurants, and pubs, galore. We even have live theater at Arts West. There is the metro bus hub for travel throughout the city, and a car share outlet a block away, across from 2 grocery stores. Hop on a ferry to Vashon at Lincoln Park or spend the day at Alki beach, only 2 miles away. A fantastic, 18-hole golf course is less than 1 mile away! Around the corner is the Sunday Farmer's Market and a local bakery, a yummy pie shop, and a natural food co-op. The Orange is super convenient to downtown and the water taxi, but you may never want to leave West Seattle. It is all right here!

We spent 6 nights here just after Christmas through new years and we loved it! My daughter lives nearby so our family gathered here to celebrate the holidays and a very small wedding and it could not have been nicer. All the amenities are really here and the kitchen is a delight for those of us who love to cook. We really appreciated all the necessary food and paper goods that are stocked here - very generous and so nice to have. There was even a bowl of fruit on the table and coffee beans! That, plus a Christmas tree, helped make our time so special. Location is perfect - easy walk to coffee shops, excellent restaurants and easy shopping. We had a wonderful meal in local Japanese spot not far from the junction and the seafood spot We would come back in a heartbeat - thank you Cassie and Morgan!

to info "Sweet Orange" is now our "home away from home." We have just had our second stay visiting our daughter and new granddaughter in West Seattle, and we love it! Better than the pictures! The house itself has a great location. It's just one block off California Street, the main "drag," filled with restaurants (including pho), a marvelous bakery (try the almond croissants and take some home on the plane), a very good wine shop, an excellent used book store, a "zip car" lot, and the Sunday Farmers' Market, as well as a Rite Aid with ample supplies for anything forgotten. Thus, walking to every place is very easy. Two supermarkets are also within walking distance as well as the bus stops. In addition, the water taxi is a short drive away, offering an inexpensive and very convenient way to ferry into the heart of Seattle with a marvelous view of the skyline (the winter schedule is limited to mornings and afternoons). Sweet Orange is located in a quintessential quiet West Seattle neighborhood with easy parking. The inviting entrance graces a lovely front yard with local plantings and an awesome tree. There is an outside balcony for meals outside on a warm day overlooking another beautiful garden area. The interior is spacious and filled with interesting antique furniture and lamps. Attractive vibrant colors are nonetheless restful and tranquil. There is a living room with chairs, a comfortable sofa, and a cheerful gas fireplace making it cozy on cool days. The master bedroom is generous with a rich raspberry comforter from Pottery Barn on the comfortable kingsize bed. The separate dining room made it possible to have guests for dinner. We cooked every day to give food to the new parents in the well equipped galley kitchen with its reliable gas stove (reliable enough for me to bake cookies). There were also some smaller rooms we were able to set up as "offices" with our laptop and printer. Since there is another unit on the lower level, we decided to follow "quiet hours" to avoid our noise carrying downstairs. We also used the washer and drier frequently to minimize our luggage. Cassie, the owner, is friendly, attentive, and quick to respond with any questions or concerns. Sweet Orange reflects Cassie's loving care. And... after the stress of travel, we have been greeted with coffee beans (a grinder is in kitchen), fresh half and half, chocolates, and oranges.

This was the perfect property for us. If you are looking for a great hotel alternative this is the place for you. Property is as advertised. We loved the feeling of being part of the neighberhood and the property was cleaner than any hotel I ever stayed in. Owner was ready to help at a moment's notice with anything. Close enough to West Seattle and Seattle without the hassle of being in a totally urban area. Deck has a nice peak-a-boo view of the sound with lots of trees. Maticulous landscaping. Check out the restaurants on California, and of course, Alki beach is a short drive away.Lots of room to spread out and we had the kitchen to make breakfast and eat on the deck. i would recommed to my friends and relatives.

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 1987

About the owner: The Sweet Orange was my home for many years, and is now offered as a vacation rental. My heart, my creativity, and my passion for design have been invested over the years, resulting in an artistic, charming and comfortable home. Having been a life-long traveler for work and play, I know the importance of having a delightful respite home away from home. We are locals and available to guests, if they should need anything.

Why the Owner Chose West Seattle:
West Seattle is its own destination. Many of us who live here keep it local and only venture out of the neighborhood to play in the big city. West Seattle is valued, by some, as a bedroom community for downtowners seeking a slightly slower pace, but desiring quick access to work and the city nightlife and cultural happenings. The feeling here is a bit like a beach town, with all the fabulous views and cool hangouts. I've lived here 24 years and am still counting.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
'The house has great energy', many guests say. The rich colors and textures are a sensual delight. The garden is ever-expanding. Folks have often remarked how peaceful the view and residential setting is, while being centrally located in an urban neighborhood, 2 blocks from the local flavor - the West Seattle Junction. The super walkable location and fantastic bus system allow some guests to get around Seattle, efficiently, without a car. Be in the middle of downtown Seattle in 10 minutes. The airport is a breeze from here. Something for everyone!
