Why the Owner Chose Saugatuck
Our family has had close Michigan ties going back three generations. A small fishing/hunting cottage on the shore of Lake Leelaneau in the northern part of the state has been a family gathering spot for almost 100 years. We wanted to continue the tradidion, and perhaps have something a little closer to Chicago, which most of us call home. Since Saugatuck has always been a stopping point in our travels to and from Lake Leelaneau, and we'd already made many memories there, we were naturally drawn to the area. Now, it's just a quick drive out of our concrete jungle, and into the relaxing beauty that is southwest Michigan. We love it, and know you will too!

This was our 2nd annual visit to Roadside Marker and we just loved it! In fact we loved the cabin and Saugatuck area so much that we brought friends with us this year. We traveled with our 14 & 12 year olds kids and they just love it there! In spite of the bad weather we still had a blast. We dined at Salt of the Earth (awesome), Marro's, Wally's and Su Casa (awful). We went on the dunes ride, hiked in the nearby dunes park, went to the Art Barn, shopped in Douglas/Saugatuck and enjoyed the very beautiful and comfortable cabin. The pictures of the cabin are just how the place is: clean and comfortably accommodates 8 people. The neighborhood is well-maintained and we love how quiet and private the area is. The back screened in porch is great to hang out in nature, the hot tub...oh so relaxing, and the beds are very comfy! Thank you Dorothy and family for sharing your lovely cabin with us. You are so wonderful to work with and we can't wait to come again soon!

We had a wonderful relaxing weekend in this home. We had a fire going everyday and found it hard to leave this cozy cabin. We did venture out to downtown Saugatuck on Saturday afternoon to eat lunch and to check out the cute little shops in town. We had a great time and Dorothy was great to work with.

A Fantastic Diva Retreat!

We were more than pleased with the cabin..the Diva's were in their element!! The cabin was clean and inviting-exactly like the pictures...but add a nice fire (they had starter blocks and wood ready to go!) and Martini's...it was hard to leave the place to shop. The shopping was very convenient (once we pulled ourselves away). We did the Grandville Mall, but especially loved the "downtown" shopping in Saugatuck. It was quaint and festive, a nice change from the mad rush of a mall. We did less shopping and more relaxing and bonding just because the cabin had that aura about it....we loved EVERYTHING about it. This is the 20+ year these Diva's have enjoyed a shopping weekend together, and have stayed in many places, but this cabin has been the best by far. Dorothy has been a pleasure to work with and we plan to rent it again next year! Just doesnt get any better!!!

Thank you for such a wonderful place to stay! We all love this cabin on Lilypad Lane - the kids adore the loft and "log cabin" feel, as well as the pool and hot tub. We also really like the boardwalk to the dock and caught a fish ourselves, too! It is nice and private here, which the adults enjoy. Saugatuck, Holland and Douglas are all great towns for shipping and eating...especially the ice cream. We visited both Oval Beach and Saugatuck Dunes - the loved walk through the woods to get to the lake. Hope to be back next summer!

Lovely get away from the city, peaceful, serene, and tucked into the woods. We had a group of girls and with the size and layout of the place not to mention the hot tub on the back deck! We never had to be on top of each other. It’s a short drive out of the city. Recharge!

We weren't actually sure of what to expect; the exterior and promotional interior shots were charming, but when we walked in the door, the place really knocked our socks off!! The layout was really spacious; the beds comfortable, the fireplace and hot tub easy to use and lovely amenities, and the proximity and ease to Saugatauk were all as advertised. There was even a large flat screen TV which my husband, the news junkie, loved. There were places to walk, including a path by the lake, and you haven't lived till you use a hot tub in the cold. Super fun! We loved our stay in every way. Highest recommendation!!!
