Beach Access Update:
The Hurricane that struck the CT area the summer of 2011 has eroded the beach access path at the end of Yowago Avenue. The path is currently under reconstruction should be completed by May 2013. All other access points to Pine Orchard beach are open and also within walking distance. Plenty of parking also should you decide to drive
We also recommend that our clients take advantage of the Stoney Creek beach in Branford which is a 10 minute drive away from the property. We highly recommend a visit to this area which is home to the Thimble Islands.

All the women in the family take my mother away for her birthday for a weekend mini vacation. There were 11 of us and the house had plenty of space. The kitchen is well equipped and the dining area large enough to accommodate all of us. The neighbor is quiet and very conducive for an early morning walk. The only thing I had a problem with was the sixth bedroom - it had a futon and nothing else. perhaps a night stand with a lamp and drapes for the large sliding glass doors would make it more like a bedroom. But we all had a great time and would place this house on our "return to" list. Thank you Tony for your quick response to all my questions.Did you find this review helpful? The house was MUCH larger than described - and in GREAT condition. The house is great for kids, with a huge backyard and great deck to sit out on. The owner was quick to respond to questions and provided so much information about the area and house. The kitchen was spotless and wonderful for all the cooks in my family. I honestly couldn't have asked for anything better. If you are looking for a house that will fit lots of people but still is a home, this is it! The location is perfect, too. The house is on a quiet street and just two minutes from the water. I honestly can't say anything negative about our stay, the house, or the owner. We found this rental comfortable and well-suited for a family with grown children and grandchildren. Each family branch can be accommodated in different wings of the house, each with its own bathroom facilities. The yard is spacious and great for kids' games. We were disappointed, however, that we did not have access to the nearby beach, as advertised. The beach was cordoned off for restoration efforts from the effects of hurricane Irene the year before. In light of the damage wreaked on the Atlantic coastline from Sandy (Oct. '12), we would advise that you check with the town of Branford about the status of beach access at Pine Orchard for 2013 rentals.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.

There are several other locations to access the beach and we should have given you the directions to them as they are all within walking distance from the house. The access at the end of our street is anticipated to be reopened in 2013. We hope to see you again.

Branford is a delightful small CT town,historic,friendly,with good amenities. The house is in a great neighbourhood,it's well described...comfortable spacious and well equipped [tho being British as ever in the US we missed a Kettle]..downstairs the lounging,dining and kitchen work very well and the upstairs bedrooms are particularly pleasant....this all sounds a bit formal the bottom line is we had a great time and the owners were very helpful...our local favourites were Lennys at Indian Neck [great lobster and steak],plus the seafood shop there....Stony Creek harbour and host to Thimble Island cruises,it was a short stroll to our beach and of those a little further afield the beach at Madison topped our list.Yale was a must see and easily accessible.In addition to the food outlets I would commend The Meat Store [deli & high Quality meat] and adjoining wine emporium en route to the house from I 95 and the nearby Big Y supermarket. 55 was great to relax in and to return to..I'd happily recommend it to friends and would certainly return...almost forgot to mention Thursday Jazz on the Green in summer was super.Enjoy !!Did you find this review helpful? We rented this house for a family reunion. With family members coming from NY, NJ and Boston, Branford proved to be an excellent location. This house is as beautiful as shown in pictures in a charming, quite and an upscale neighborhood. We found the house immaculately clean with a dream kitchen and has a huge open layout floor plan perfect for non-stop mingling. Quite street and fenced backyard allowed kids to make full use of the outside. We made a trip to Hammonasset Beach State Park (where you should go after 4 pm to save considerable amount on parking fee) taking the scenic Rt 146 and returned back to via I-95, which was very quick! The air conditioning in the main level of house is a little uneven with a few rooms getting cooler than other. Having a few floor fans can help in better circulating the air through living room. All in all, we will have good memories of this family vacation :) Thanks Tony for quick turnaround on all the emails and providing us appropriate information in timely fashion.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We were searching for the perfect site for my mom's 80th birthday party as well as a comfortable home for the week close to the beach, restaurants and area attractions. This house certainly fit the bill. The neighborhood was quiet yet close to all of the local restaurants. The lay out of the house is perfect for entertaining. The front and back yard was spacious and private. While close to everything Branford and Connecticut has to offer, we found ourselves relaxing at the house, playing games and cooking great meals in the well equipped kitchen. I made the mistake of bringing platters and miscellaneous kitchen items that were not needed since they had everything one could need to cook. Thank you Tony and Magie for a wonderful stay. We will be back!Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

We contacted the owners to arrange a weekend rental for my nephew's wedding in Branford. The owners were very easy to work with and they provided us with all the information about the house and a list of all of the amenities. We really enjoyed our stay. My brother and his wife and two children and my family stayed for the weekend. It was very clean and there was plenty of room and the house was well equipped. There was an hour in between the wedding and ceremony so we had other family members join us for cocktails. We were able to sit out on the back deck and enjoy the beautiful day while the kids played baseball in the private backyard. the house is located in a quiet residential area not far from town. I would highly recommend this rental!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We rented this property over Thanksgiving week for ourselves, our three grown children and their families. We were particularly attracted by the 5 bedrooms and 5 baths, and it suited our purposes perfectly. There is plenty of parking and the location was within 15 minutes of relatives who live in East Haven. While it wasn't really important to us, the stone beach is within easy walking distance. The WiFi internet connection was an important feature, since we had 3 or 4 laptops going all the time.Recommended for: Families with young children.

The house was great...room for everyone; a place for the children to play inside and out; room to relax, but still be part of the group. The Master Suite is fantastic! The kitchen worked very well. It is large and the stove is to die for! Although the house is not on the beach, it is an easy walk to the water. The town is picturesque and restaurants are very good; a very nice area with lots to do and see.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We rented this home for a week in the fall and it was wonderful! For my partner and I it was a staycation because we live in the area. For a few family members and friends, it was a getaway and this home was large enough to comfortably accommodate everyone. The floorplan is so open, you never feel like you're on top of anyone and have plenty of space. But each room also feels cozy when everyone is in it. The master bedroom and bathroom are an absolute treat, they are so gorgeous. The kitchen was great for baking and making breakfast - it's big enough for multiple chefs and is open to the rest of the house so you don't feel like you're stuck in the kitchen. The house really is a quick 5 minute walk down to the water and it's a nice walk at that. The house does have some quirks but I think it gives it character (everyone loved the rodeo bathroom!) The home owners were very relaxed and made the whole process easy. I was wary about the idea of renting someone's home initially but definitely plan to use this site for future trips. Tony was very responsive throughout the week, as well as before and after. There's also plenty of essentials in the home so you don't have to worry about packing every little thing. Thank you so much for a great weekend. I could not have asked for a better experience.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

About the owner: I grew up in Branford, CT and met my wife, who is from CA, here as well. We both love Branford and it's quaint New England charm. Combined with the seaside beauty this town has to offer we jumped at the chance to buy this property. It was the 'ugly' house on the street when we acquired it in 2000. A very dated and structurally different ranch, my wife, who should have become an architect came up with a great design. By 2003 we transformed this ugly duckling into one of the most talked about homes on the street. Work has taken us to CA but we look forward to our trips back to CT to visit with family and friend and to stay in our lovely home on the east coast. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
