Location: Other Barcelona Properties, Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain, Europe (Eixample Dret)
Accommodations: Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-6)
Keywords: Apartment
Description of the apartment -
· Beautiful and bright 2 bedroom apartment on the top (6th) floor of an 100-year-old modernist building, renovated outside and inside. The ceilings are still the originals, with artistic moldings. There is an elevator, air conditioning, central heating, and a full kitchen with granite countertop, pots & pans, dishes, etc. One full bathroom with shower, toilet, sink. The living room has a dining table and chairs, a sofa bed with an additional 175cm pull-out bed, a 21-inch TV, DVDs, etc. The apartment fits up to 6 although an occupancy of 4 would be the ideal for the size.
The building's roof terrace is just upstairs from the apartment, with tables and chairs, plenty of sunshine, and views to Sagrada Familia. Please note it is a shared terrace.
Description of location -
· The apartment is located in the beautiful Eixample, halfway between Gaudi's La Pedrera (also known as Casa Milà) on the Passeig de Gracia, and Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia, just a ten-minute walk from either one. Casa Amatller and Casa Batlló are at the same short distance as well. The Eixample district has the most beautiful Art Nouveau architecture in the city dating from the last half of the XIX century.
There are many cafes, restaurants, tapas bars, and shops in the neighborhood also. Almost all buildings in the area are at least 100 years old. The 115-year-old Market of La Concepció, where you can do your grocery shopping in a traditional setting, is just 200 meters from the apartment. This market has fresh meat, produce, and cheeses, similar to the more famous Boqueria market, but less crowded and does not have some of the more exotic things.
The Eixample is recommended as a convenient location to see the different sight around the city, but not as crowded as the Old City. You can get a taste of real local life.
Transportation -
· There is a bus stop on the corner right by the apartment that will take you to almost all the places of interest in the city, if you don't feel like walking. The city buses are nice and modern, and run often. The apartment is also less than 5 minutes walking from the metro station of Verdaguer, on both the yellow and blue lines. One stop away is the upscale shopping street, Passeig de Gracia, though you can easily walk there from the apartment. Three stops away is Plaza Catalunya (the very center of the city and also walkable) and the start of Las Ramblas, and the beaches are just five stops away. Four stops away you have the Old Cathedral and the Picasso Museum. There is also a parking garage close to the apartment, although renting a car in Barcelona is not recommended.
About the management -
· We are a small family company. Lauren is from Dallas, TX and Fernando is from Barcelona, Spain. We currently run 16 holiday apartments in Barcelona, 6 in Istanbul, Turkey, and 2 furnished homes in Dallas. We apply our same high standards in every country.

EXCELLENT STAY IN BARCELONA! I relied on reviews so heavily before making my decision, now

I need to comment. My son and I travelled to Barcelona and ended up staying in 4 of Lauren's apts while in BCN over a period of 3 weeks. Our plans kept changing and Lauren, Angela and Marsella just moved us around to available units, all in the Valencia Bldg. Needless to say, we loved it!! The building is beautiful, original Moroccan tile floors and ceilings and doors so beautiful! The unit has comfortable beds, washing machine & everything else one could need. Everything is close, metro, restaurants, bakeries, market. The front units facing the busy street are noisy but the view and the feel of living like a local is worth it. The top floor unit does have very spotty internet, but you can sit on lobby stairs with no problem. In fact, my son had to continue to work so when a unit became available on the 2nd floor we were moved and we had high speed internet without any interruption. Just remember: office closed 2-4pm for siesta. And this is just a FYI for Americans: they only give you 2 rolls of toilet paper, no matter how long you stay. But this place and these 3 people made my stay in Barcelona wonderful. We walked or went everywhere on the Metro. Try the Potatas Bravas at Bar Tomas in Sarilla and Bo de B's in Barceloneta. Thanks to all of you again....I'm saving for Istanbul!

Pros: Excellent and helpful greeters (delivered our missing luggage at midnight on Friday night), neat & clean accommodations, comfortable beds, well supplied kitchen, a/c, elevators, great neighborhood, enjoyable roof top terrace. Exactly what we expected from the description. The back bedroom (with the two singles) is a very quiet room for sleeping. The front does have some street noise, but nothing that isn't normal for a big city. Lots of restaurants nearby and a grocery store. Cons: The wi-fi connection was unreliable and very spotty. We were only able to access it a few times in our week long stay for short spurts (Tip: sit in the corner of the couch by the lamp!). We used the free wi-fi available around the city at parks and monuments - look for the blue diamond with a 'W'. Speaking of spotty...the hot water cycles on/off/on/off so be prepared to stand by waiting for hot water and when it arrives it gets HOT fast (too hot to stand under, so rinse off quick) and disappears just as fast. Lastly, this is on the top floor, which is under the roof top terrace and when someone drags/pushes/moves tables and chairs up there it rings through loud and clear in the apartment. Notes: be prepared for a tiny bathroom and no TV except DVDs (not that you should be watching TV when you're in such a great city!).
Recommended for:Tourists without a car, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway, families with young children.

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay in the Valencia B flat. Marcela was most helpful and friendly. She showed us some of the other flats.....we will be letting our friends know that it's the perfect place to stay!

Dear Lauren, We just returned from our trip last night, so this is my first chance since leaving the apartment to tell you how much we enjoyed the stay in Barcelona. The apartments could not have been better. Fernando has done a beautiful job in making them very efficient and attractive, and Ignacio was super in helping us get settled. The location is terrific. We used the playgrounds on Sant Joan daily. For the kids, the playgrounds are as memorable as Parc Guell is to us. The city is, as I anticipated, even more fun than when I was there in 1991. Although I'm not sure if I am happy that Barceloneta has turned into the South Beach of Barcelona, we had a great lunch there. As we were leaving the zoo, heading over to the Jaume I metro stop I discovered that El Born is now a great place to hang out. The only problem was that it was our last evening in Barcelona, and we had to head home for dinner, so we had only a few minutes there. That did not stop me from running into some stores (and coming out with a shirt...there's nothing better than the july rebaixas. I'm already daydreaming about when I can get back to Barcelona. It very hard coming back to a rainy Princeton after having two weeks along the Mediterranean Sea. Thanks so much for making the trip to Barcelona possible for us. My only regret is not pushing the group harder so that we would have booked the apartments for the full week... Again, thanks so much! Your business is going to flourish...you do your jobs very well. Maybe I'll be contacting you in in the next year or two to book an apartment again. Certainly I'll be telling anyone I know who is going to Barcelona to check with you. Warmest regards,
