Location: Prospect, Nova Scotia, Canada (15 Mi. to Halifax, 25 Mi. to Airport,10mi to Peggy's Cove.)

Accommodations:  Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-6)

Keywords:  Cottage

This cottage is in a gorgeous location. It sits on a granite bluff overlooking the ocean, with greater than 180 degrees of spectacular water views. It is on 3 acres, and is the only home on the ocean side of the road, insuring privacy and open views. This is prime Nova Scotia ocean frontage. The views are unsurpassed.

You would be at a peaceful oceanfront retreat, but Halifax, a major international city is only 20 minutes away! Prospect is also about 10 miles from the major tourist destination of Peggy's Cove, which is a quaint oceanfront village, with a much visited lighthouse on a granite coast. Prospect is an oceanfront fishing village. The village is fairly quiet, but the people are very friendly and can share their way of life with you. Waterfront recreation abounds with everything from sea kayaking to sailing, water skiing, motor boating, fishing and whale watching. There is a two mile stretch of undeveloped public land ('crown land', as it is nominally owned by the queen of England) right next to the cottage that is a fabulous place to walk, run mountain bike or hike. The coast is spectacular to drive along with many picturesque villages such as Peggy's Cove, Lununberg, Mahone Bay, and Chester nearby. Restaurants are plentiful, with delicious seafood. Halifax is a major international city and has first class activities and attractions, including Celtic music, professional sports and entertainment, the Citadel fortress, a charming waterfront, and an excellent nightlife.

This is a simple, but neat and comfortable cottage with all the basic amenities, on a spectacular location. If you are looking for 5-star resort accommodations, this is not for you! But if you want to be surrounded by gorgeous oceanfront in your private getaway, while still having a major international city nearby, you will be very happy. The cottage is best for 2 people, but there is a sleeper sofa in the living room, and a couple of beds in the unfinished, but amazingly neat and clean attic.
Please not Nova Scotia and Canada tax of 17.7%. Pet fee $75/pet

This location is stunning, and Nova Scotia is very scenic, with very friendly people

The Unique Benefits of this Cottage

The view is spectacular, and miles of undeveloped scenic coastline abut the cottage. The cottage is in excellent shape and is quite cozy and charming. Nearby Halifax offer a big city atmosphere, but you would feel like you are in a totally separate world while at the cottage.

We loved Prospect!

We were lucky enough to stay at this wonderful cottage in the tiny little fishing village of Prospect. We loved eveything about it; the location, the cottage, the town. It was an easy drive to get to Peggy's Cove and into Halifax. The weather was spectacular. We bought lobsters at Ryers in Indian Harbor and brought them back to cook at the cottage on a couple of nights. We also dined at Rhubarb which was fantastic. We walked out on the bluffs everyday - a great hike and scenery is to die for! All & all; the cottage could not have been more perfect. Very clean and well kept with everything we needed. Thanks again Morry for a wonderful, memorable vacation; our 1st to Nova Scotia, but we will return!

Nova Scotia's Best Kept Secret!

Guest: Van (Indiana)
Date of Stay: 10/05/11 Review Submitted: 10/18/11

After traveling for nearly a month in Gaspe Bay, Prince Edward Island, and most all of Nova Scotia, my husband and I were privileged to spend a couple of days at this cottage. After rereading the description and reviews, the information is very accurate! This was the high point of our trip, and has the most gorgeous views of anything we saw on our whole trip including Cabot's Trail in Nova Scotia. The views from this cottage, for me, were breathtaking! I would suggest that you take in your food you are planning to eat at the cottage when you first go there, as a large grocery store is not close by. There is a small and very basic grocery store within a few miles. Keep everything simple, so you can enjoy some of the most beautiful surroundings you will ever experience.

The perfect vacation cottage

Guest: Barbara and Larry1 (Alexandria, VA)
Date of Stay: 08/20/11 Review Submitted: 10/07/11

Our stay at this small but perfectly comfortable southeast-facing cottage on a rocky rise overlooking but across a small inlet from the Village of Prospect, their Bay and the ocean was made perfect by the views each and every day of surf and rocks, clean ocean breezes (sometimes brisk) and of seaside barrens. The "beach" is rocky, but folks do swim in the inlet and environs. We were happy just looking out the windows or having coffee on top of some of the rocks, watching the water, sky and wildlife. The cottage is adjacent to Crown Lands and has no nearby neighbors. Local villagers include those from families settled and fishing from here for generations, although most now commute to work/Halifax area. There is a high percentage of indigenous retirees, but still some kids. It is not, however, a busy location. Tourists are more occasional than omnipresent despite the glorious location and view. No great local restaurants nearby, but many in and around Halifax, a short drive away. Try The Finer Diner west on 333, along with Shaw’s Landing for good local chow. The drive takes you past Ryers Lobster Pound, which will steam lobsters or mussels for you to take “home” or eat there. In the city, be sure to try Cafe Aroma Latino and Dee Dee's ice cream, Jane's on the Common for light quality, or Saege Bistro on Spring Garden. The Ela Taverna (Bayer's Lake) is not bad Greek (and handy when shopping at Atlantic). There are several rather good local mideast/Turkish and Indian restaurants along Spring Garden as well. There is also a Dee Dee’s at Peggy’s Cove, by the single serving (they only take cash).

Spent a wonderful week in this gorgeous location. If you are looking for a memory to last a life time, than we strongly encourage you to stay. The views on the walk are spectacular. The cottage is well kept and very clean. Halifax is a beautiful and exciting city. The gardens, the citadel and my friend, Alexander Kieth. Thanks Moory.

Another World

From the moment I stepped foot into this cottage, I didn't want to leave. The weather was beautiful, the location peaceful, the premises exactly as described - not luxurious but clean and with all amenities one might need. The deck overlooks a magnificent view of the village of Prospect and the ocean. To the right (south) as one stands on the deck is the crown land which appears to go on forever - a wonderful place for a picnic, walk or to take a book and find a secluded rocky outcrop in which to hide, read a book and just relax. Halifax is within easy commuting distance as is Peggy's Cove and Lunenberg. There are plenty of nearby golf courses and driving ranges. Or, one could do what I chose to do on the first day - sit on the deck, admire the view, read an entire book, relax, drink my tea and hope that the end of the week never arrives. The setting is so serene, it is as if one is in another, less-complicated time.
