Lion Cottage is a charming, sophisticated and romantic retreat with a European ambiance for one or two couples, filled with treasured antiques and furnishings from my life and travels. I invite you to completely relax and feel the wondrous magic of Lion Cottage and Whidbey Island.
There are two bedrooms, each with queen beds with beautiful linens and their own bathrooms. Both look out to a private back yard and patio. The living room is warmed with a fireplace in the heart of the house, very comfortable couch and chairs and the adjoining dining room table easily seats six. Please protect furniture with coasters and your thoughtfulness. There is also a library with a computer, many books, a music system and views to the back yard. Stroll down the hill (1.5 blocks) into our beloved Langley village for delightful conversation in cozy coffee houses, restaurants and shopping in wonderful and unique shops. Excellent wine selections at The Star Store and the 2nd Street Wine Shop!
The Hawthorne Room (shower and larger dressing area) is a quiet haven with french doors leading to a lovely patio and private yard filled with beautiful plantings and landscaping. The McCreary Room (bath-shower combination) also has its own bathroom and looks out at the gardens and patio.
The kitchen is very open, efficient and filled with everything you need to prepare a special meal: beautiful dishes, appliances and utensils, including my beloved spice cabinet! The garden is filled with many herbs and fruits (in season) to enjoy. Please feel free to eat the edible white grapes on the patio that provide shade and privacy in the summer. Enjoy blueberries, grapes and figs in season. The patio has tables and chairs, a gas grill and a firepit with wood provided.
Lion Cottage is a charming and immaculate home with delightful winter views of sea and mountains. It is less than two blocks to the beach and eagle and (fall and spring) whale watching! Please listen for the bell on First Street which alerts us to whale sightings.

I am a Texan who loves the Northwest and Whidbey Island! Originally from San Antonio, I have lived many places in the U.S. and frequently visit Europe. I first visited Whidbey Island in 1985 and found myself enchanted with the beauty and magic of the island. You too will feel it when you visit. I presently live in Austin, Texas but return frequently to savor special moments and friends. I currently work in Saks Fifth Avenue Jewelry Department in Austin and have also been a Real Estate Broker in Texas and Washington for 30+ years. I also enjoy gardening, writing and cooking.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Walk to the beach, coffee shops, delightful restaurants, art galleries, Langley's old fashioned one screen movie theater, the performing arts center, art galleries and unique specialty shops. We also have excellent wine shops in our village! People come here and truly relax, able to enjoy the island beauty and the slower pace....I call this Island a healing place for the body, mind and spirit.
