Start with the staff -- all friendly, fabulous people unfailingly polite with English language skills sometimes better than mine. They can't do enough for you. We have travelled extensively and I feel I can say this is the best overall service and quality we have ever had. They work long hours, will help organize excursions for you, let you use their computers to print, and offer any advice you require. The owners --Brent and Julietta -- are young, open, pleasant, available and engaged. They loaned us a USB key with several award winning sub-titled Argentine movies on them (including a surprise star in a couple of them). They have created a beautiful building with a variety of different very high-ceilinged apartments and clearly have invested a great deal of time, energy, care and money in furnishing each unit and providing high quality cooking utensils. Even some basics such as spices, coffee, tea, plug adaptors, etc. were provided along with a welcome bottle of an excellent Malbec wine. There is a cell phone to use -- across the street is a "locuteria" to buy some minutes -incoming call are free. There is a loaded iPOD or bring your own to insert into the player. We wanted to use Buenos Aires as our base for 3 weeks and were late booking so we moved a few times and enjoyed different units. Most have private patios for leisurely breakfasts since nothing opens until late -some of the musea don't open until 2:00PM.. There is a small pool on the 4th floor that offers plenty of exposure to sunshine and shade if you prefer for end of day relaxation -- or all day as we did for a couple of hot sunny days. We scoured the internet for places and while the Poetry building was no more than 20% more expensive -- it was probably 500% better than the others we examined. --- wonderful value for money. Its location -in the Recoleta area was excellent, safe and a good base for exploring the city. The subway is close by and safe to use as long as you are vigilant.. So ***** -5 Stars across the board.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at Luz Y Aire spanning the 3 weeks From March 30 through to April 21.Our choice of this particular apt was based largely on the reviews we had read and the fact that the owners were so proactive in dealing with their tenants.Although we don't expect hand-holding when we travel,it seemed a major bonus considering this particular destination. Therefore we were somewhat surprised and disappointed after corresponding with Linda over the months and finalizing a rental agreement to arrive and learn she was no longer the owner of the unit. We felt we should have been informed. This proved to be a of no concern however as we were put into the very capable hands of the managers of the bldg.... 'Poetry'.This accomodating, friendly staff soon put our doubts to rest. They helped us with most of our bookings and answered our countless questions. We were very impressed. The apt was clean and towel changes and weekly cleanings were seen to at the our convenience. The deck/pool area on the roof was a great spot for warm afternoons and evenings. As for the actual apt #264929...no surprises.. it is as it is shown. It is a very nice space. The little patio area is a lovely bonus that extends an already spacious unit and we made good use of it...eating breakfast there every morning and enjoying a glass of Malbec when we returned 'home' after a day of City sights. The bed was very comfortable. The kitchen well-equipped (needs a microwave) We both feel however that this particular unit could use a renovation or at least a freshening up... particularly in the main bathroom which could benefit from a retiling. As for the location of the building... it is splendid! If returning to BsAs or coming for a first time trip, I would strongly advise a rental in this bldg. (As an aside...I don't believe 'Merle from Ottawa' stayed in this particular unit)Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I have been spending winters away from Canada for 10 years. Our 2 month stay in Buenos Aires,at the Poetry building was one of our best experiences. The web site descriptions and photos were true to life--our appartment was charming, well appointed, beautifully decorated, and was our perfect "home away from home". Brent and his staff provided us with the kind of support and assistance one finds in top notch hotels. The neighborhood was reminiscent of our stays in Paris, with all important cultural venues just a short walk away. Because our stay was longer than most other guests, it was important to have the facilities to dine at home periodically, and the kitchen was very well equipped for this. When dining out, excellent restaurants were a short cab ride away. We made several shot excursions out of BA, and each time , we were happy to return to our home at the Poetry building. The deck and pool area became a wonderful meeting area, as guests were able to exchange tips, and experiences. We are toying with returning next year, and should we do so, the Poetry building will be our choice of residence. We congratulate Brent for having developed this wonderful property, for having designed the new in with the old, and for having furnished the appartments with such good taste! What a pleasure it was to stay here!! Many thanks to all.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our 8 days in Linda & Kurt's apartment was Part I of a surprise birthday trip for my husband who knew nothing about where we were going until we got there. When we walked into Luz y Aire his eyes lit up. I can only say that it was the perfect place to begin our exploration of Buenos Aires. We did not consume one cup of coffee or one glass of wine indoors; the private garden patio was fantastic. Would we come back? Absolutely!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I booked this apartment for my first few days in Buenos Aires and the experience was perfect in every possible way. This apartment is perfect and I would not change one single thing. Being my first apartment rental in Buenos Aires I was totally amazed at how nice this apartment was for the price. Linda has thought of everything for people coming into the apartment, from a nice bottle of wine and fresh milk on arrival to plenty of maps and info on the area. Linda has a very good transportation service and arranged for a van to pick up our small video production crew at the airport and this was a blessing and totally stress free. The driver Hector gave us plenty of great info on arrival to the new city. I will be booking this apartment for my next stay but will do it ahead of time so I can have it for more days. When it was time to leave Linda even helped us with transportation to our next hotel. Thank you so much Linda for making our stay perfect!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Linda thought of everything and there is nothing we would change. The apartment was quite comfortable for two and in a great location. It is well maintained and quiet. We very much enjoyed the neighborhood, the coffee shops, the restaurants, and the local wine shop. We would definitely stay here again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My wife and I had a marvelous 5 week stay in Luz y Aire. The accommodations were new and modern and perfect for our needs. Our little Cairn Terrier Molly had a great place to play in the private rear courtyard, and the front of the apartment opened to a beautiful atrium with water sculptures and surrounded by glass, adding to the wonderful ambiance. Most important in the city environment is the fact that the apartment is situated in the rear of the building, away from the street noise, and very peaceful indeed: no problems sleeping in a bit after a late dinner in BA! Linda was an attentive hostess, giving great assistance with the language, theater tix, etc...and for a fee, even kept Molly while we spent 5 days in Mendoza. We rate this listing among the very highest in VRBO for quality, location and amenities!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay while in Buenos Aires. We definitely made the right decision staying in this apartment rather than staying in a hotel in a touristy part of town. This apartment is located right in the middle of Barrio Norte and Recoletta and is a perfect slice of Porteno life! Quaint shops in a quiet yet active locals-only neighborhood. We don't look Argentine or speak Spanish, but we felt like we were at home. We would definitely stay here again when we come back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

That this apartment is well-located in an attractive building, clean, reasonably-priced, tastefully decorated in understated elegance, and larger than expected for a studio is only half of what makes it a perfect location for maximum enjoyment of Buenos Aires. In addition, its owners have thought of everything to assist the traveler in hitting the ground running upon arrival: all sorts of area information tips, a fully stocked kitchen, a loaded cell phone, and a computer with wireless access, to name a few. They are thoughtful, detail-oriented and attentive to inquiries, but never imposing. We enjoyed participating in some neighborhood events the owners told us about. And they went well beyond the call of duty by, among other things, transporting and keeping our luggage, arranging transportation, sending photos, even repacking our wine purchases against breakage for the trip home! We are picky travelers who can think of no complaint or even an area Luz y Aire might improve upon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Buenos Aires and found Linda's apartment on VRBO. From the get-go Linda was a dream come true--she worked with us to finalize the dates, answered questions on where to go, what to do, the weather, the food, and got back to us quickly each time. The apartment is perfect--everything you need she has thought of, the kitchen is stocked with everything you need to make a gourmet meal and it was a treat being able to shop at the market and cook at home on some nights. It is comfortable and cozy and you definitely feel at home while you are staying there. Linda has a laptop and cell phone for you to use during your stay which came in handy for looking up excursions, restaurants and directions. The apartment is in the perfect location--a few blocks from the subway, surrounded by great restaurants and shopping, and close to the Recoleta Cemetery. The grocery store is right around the corner as well as the tastiest little bakery! I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone traveling to B.A. We are already spreading the word on Linda's apartment with our family and friends. Thanks Linda!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I was privilaged to be able to stay at Luz y Aire during April 2010. From the get-go Linda was there to help me with all my needs. The apt is everything you can need and more. Linda had supplied the apt with coffee, orange juice, pastries, and anything else I might need if I chose to cook during my stay. Everything is within walking distance and she is more then happy to assist you with information, she has tons of reference books that you can use. Flat screen television, Bose sound system, internet service, and a phone are at your disposal. The patio is a great place to have your morning coffee or that last glass of wine before retireing. She recommended a french bistro across the street, Granda, that is incredible. I had dinner there 3 times during my stay and is very reasonable. Linda knows the most fabulous place on Berutti street that has the best chocolate I have ever had. I did have the most memorable time in BA thanks to Linda. She was gracious enough to accept my invitation to dinner and we had a blast. Thru her I was able to meet her husband Kurt, Eduardo, and Stella. We all dined together into the wee hours of the morning as it should be when you are graced with the company fo such wonderful people. If you should happen to be a "wine afficionado" her friend Eduardo has this great little wine boutique shop with a fabulous collection of wines from small wine producers. The apt is truly a gem and I have all intentions of being there again. Linda, mil gracias por todo, con mucho carino. FlacoRecommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The location was perfect. The interior of the apartment was beautiful and well maintained. It was incredibly clean with amazing amenities. When we arrived, we were greeted by Linda who met us with a bottle of wine, milk, orange juice, fresh pastries and ground coffee for the coffee maker. Not only did we have these supplies, the apartment was equipped with a Bose sound system with an IPOD and a flat screen TV as well as a lap top computer with wireless internet. To top it off, Linda had a cell phone available for us to use that was already charged with more minutes than we could use. I definitely would recommend staying at this wonderful gem in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Many, many thanks to Linda for all of her welcoming warmth and above and beyond assistance. In addition to having the pastries, juice, milk, coffee and a wonderful bottle of Mendoza region Malbec upon arrival (a godsend after 15 hours in flight), Linda was a great resource for events and activities, dining recommendations and need to know wherewithal for our week in BA. It is difficult to convey the spacious comfort of the studio via pictures. Furnishings reflect throughtul design and quality purchases; on par with what I would find in a 4 star hotel; very comfortable bed and linens, flat screen, iPod, nice selection of guidebook and maps made the decision to stay in the studio one of the best of the trip. The patio was nicely equipped with table and chairs, grill, candles, and plants. The studio lived like a 1,000+ sq ft as the patio had a such a natural flow. The two baths were a real luxury; although we didn;t cook in, the kitchen is well equipped. One of our best trips ever; due in large to the wonderful accomodations and having a great local contact. The neighborhood is very upscale and safe, convenient to everything; transportation, shopping, many, many fine restaurants within a few blocks. After a few days I was writing friends and proclaiming "Yo soy porteno" as we felt so at home in Linda's studio.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

GREAT PLACE!! which you will be soooo happy you stayed at!! I give Linda and Kurt the highest recommendation I can. The place was perfect for my wife and I to use as a base to see the entire city in our 3 days there before heading to see friends in Uruguay and get a feel for the neighborhood - so much so now we want to buy a place and move! The location could not be beat, and I felt safer than I feel in DC mostly. Place lets you be dropped into the best neighborhood (Recoleta) in the city and get a sense of the community not just at a sterile hotel, that does not feel like BA. The apartment itself was very well done in the remodel and provided us all the amenities and then some we could possibly have needed (All the guide books u need, Ipod, Phone, TV, Lap top/Wif fi, and welcome wine/fruit/juice were all great!. We enjoyed the private patio out back for some coffee and wine, and also the roof top pool for the same. Kurt and Linda gave us a great introduction to the place when we arrived, walking us through everything, and also had us to their house a few blocks away for some wine one night before dinner which was great! I can not say enough good things about them, the place, or Buenos Aries itself. I consider this a must vacation at for the culture, history and the fact that the cost of everything from 5 star food, wine, beer, cabs, etc is about 1/4 what things cost in the US b/c the dollar is very strong here!!! (Skip Europe where the costs of thinsg are higher than US b/c of poor dollar and also since half BA looks like Spain and the other half like France!) Also - Just an FYI for people who may not have done VRBO overseas before - I was not sure of doing a VRBO overseas. I had done them many times in US, but the whole sending money to a person overseas thing had me a little nervous. Linda was so helpful via email before booking, answering all my questions and concerns so that was much appreciated by me! Just book it and go relax!Did you find this review helpful? What a great way to see and get to know Buenos Aires! Luz y Aire is centrally located in Recoleta, a perfect based from which to explore this extraordinary city. This comfortable, modern, air conditioned apartment was also a great way to beat the heat of BA in January. Linda Fernandez was very helpful. Among other things, she arranged to have us met at the domestic airport on our arrival, and taken out to the international airport for our departure. We'd love to go back some day.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We loved our stay here, ditto to all of the above all comments are true. Just to add a few, the shower is the best of any hotel/apartment I have been in and to be provided a washcloth is unheard of. The welcome breakfast was such a treat as we arrived late and did not want to run to the supermercado first thing in the morning. Instead we slept in, and enjoyed a great breakfast on the patio. The roof pool is perfect for a cooling off dip after a steamy day in BA. Kurt and Linda have thought of everything, the apartment is spotless and spacious! We will be back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Our stay at Luz y Aire was very memorable. Not only did we feel immediately welcome, but more so as our stay progressed. We arranged the private pick up from the airport at Linda's suggestion, and it was wonderful. The transfer from the airport to the accommodation was smooth and stress free. When we arrived, Linda greeted us at the door! In Luz y Aire we were also pleased to have everything we needed for the first day and more in Buenos Aires. There was a fresh fruit basket, budin (local pastry), fresh juices in the fridge, and a beautiful bottle of wine chosen especially for us. There were many small details that we really appreciated. The cell phone, ipod/sound system and net book that Linda and Kurt provided for our use was at the top. The fresh flowers and candles really made it feel like home. It was quiet at all hours, which helped us battle our jet lag. Not only did we stay for our original one week at Luz y Aire, but we also booked a three week stay after that! It is a great place for any one person, or a small family like us. We have a 2 year old, and it was really kid friendly. We leave our home away from home with warm memories, and new friends. Muchas Gracias Linda y Kurt! We will see you again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This place rocks! It is located in the barrio of Recoleta - probably the best neighborhood in Buenos Aires. The apartment has all of the comforts of home and the added convenience of many outstanding restaurants within walking distance, including the great bistro across the street. Need a sugar buzz? Walk down the block for an assortment of pastries or a fresh empanada. A well stocked grocery store (Disco) is around the block. Want to make new friends? Look no further than the owners of the place, Kurt and Linda, who start your visit with a bottle of malbec, milk, o.j. (the good kind), and pastry. They take great care in making sure the place is spotless - by doing the work themselves, including washing and even ironing the linen. There is a great back patio with a parrilla (Argentinian grill) just begging to get used. Invite Kurt and Linda and grill to your hearts content. You will not regret it. They will bring stuff - like a great wine recommended by the local wine guy or a decadent dessert. No plans to visit Buenos Aires? Make them now and reserve this place before I move in permanently.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We spent 3 wonderful nights at the Luz y Aire (8 total in the building) and it was an absolutely wonderful unit. All of the amenities have been thought of. Additionally, there are other details that make this a great place, not the least of which is a NetBook left in the unit for the guests' disposal. A very key addition. Also, we took advantage of the car transfer from the airport and could not recommend it more to the first time, or even seasoned traveler to BA. Kurt and Linda are the most gracious and helpful hosts we've ever encountered in our many experiences with VRBO all over the world. We feel that we've made great and long lasting friends with them and they really know their city well. The building itself is located in a great district which is very central in a sprawling city. You won't regret your stay here. We look forward to returning to a city we love and great new friends as soon as we can. Have a great time, starting with this amazing property!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Superb! Excellent! Delightful! There are not enough superlatives to describe this lovely apartment that truly enhanced our vacation in Buenos Aires. From enjoying breakfast on the patio in the morning, to sipping wine on the rooftop pool terrace in the early evening, to being able to step out into the wonderful Recoletta neighborhood, the apartment and its location were ideal. Exceptionally well appointed and brand new, the apartment had everything we could need for our week long stay -- including a spaciousness that no hotel room can give you. Linda and Kurt have thought of everything (including impressive car service) and were fantastic hosts -- available for questions and excellent restaurant and wine recommendations! (The welcome basket including coffee and Malbec was also a lovely treat!) We fell in love with Buenos Aires on our trip and also with Luz Y Aire. This is now our neighborhood and home in Buenos Aires. We will be back to stay here again soon, very soon! Thank you Linda and Kurt. Gracias!Did you find this review helpful?
