I enjoyed my stay at Sunflower Cottage this past winter, it was a wonderful way to spend my first winter in "retirement mode". The cottage is so central to everything, the water, shops, restaurants, and the Cedar Key dock. Tina was ever so approachable and a great landlady. The cottage had everything to make it feel like a "home away from home". I look forward to staying there again!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The Sunflower Cottage was fantastic. From the moment we arrived, we knew we had found a gem. Tina was great with directions, suggestions and a welcome smile. The cottage is set up beautifully and we loved the outdoor space. The golf cart was an added bonus. We parked our car on Friday and didn't drive it again until we left for home. We met extended family in Cedar Key and had a great picnic on the back porch. We had lots of space. Next year we are planning an extended stay at the Sunflower Cottage and can't wait to go back. You won't be disappointed.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: I'm so glad you had a good time in Cedar Key and enjoyed your say at the Sunflower Cottage. I hope you get back again soon.

This was the perfect cottage for a week of extreme relaxation! Very clean and fully equipped with everything one could want or need, it is only a short walk into town to the wonderful shops, restaurants and art galleries as well as the dock and beach. Dinners out included Tony's (award winning clam chowder), and the bar at the Island Hotel. We walked to Sandy's for the best fresh produce, fruits and cheeses around. We also walked 2 blocks each night to watch the most amazing sunsets and to meet new friends. The location couldn't be more perfect and the owner (who we finally met on day 6!) was easy to work with. This was one of the very best vacation accomodations ever!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our stay has been great at this sweet & clean unit with a great location in a quiet area.It has EVERYTHING YOU NEED! not one detail is missing! The owner has set this unit up as a home away from home. The photos dont do justice to this cute unit,The owner was great and made our stay on quiet Cedar Key GREAT!LOCATION,LOCATION,LOCATION,a block from downtown in a real quiet area.a short ride to all the areas we visited to list a few the local springs the jewels of Florida,a trip to see manatees near Crystal River. So many things to do or not do. The unit comes with a golf cart to tour the Island is a great value as rentals are fun but not cheap to rent! the unit has a washer and dryer is great to do clothes and makes it easy to not bring so many things,Cooking in a well stocked kitchen is so nice,if you dont like to cook just down the steet are many places to eat at.The area is such a nice place to vacation and relax and we realy love sun flower cottageRecommended for: Sightseeing.

My husband, dog and I loved this little cottage. Very laid back and relaxing stay. The Golf cart was fun and wonderful for sight seeing and getting around without the car. Be prepared, however, there are only two small stores there and I would recommend a visit to grocery before coming. Everything is furnished except food. Nearest grocery is 30-45 minute away. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend Sunflower Cottage for a relaxing vacation. Lots of fishing and wonderful sun rises and sunsets. Owner was easy to work with and lived near, if any problems come up. Thank you.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners.

We want to be able to rent next year and want to keep it a secret. Seriously, this has been the most amazing vacation. The cottage is perfect, clean, fully equipped with an awesome location. We were like locals on the golf cart, traveling around everywhere on it. The local community are friendly, warm, and inviting making you feel welcome. Cedar Key and Sun Flower Cottage are "Dog Friendly" making our vacation even more memorable. We took the Tide Water Tour with Fred as our Guide and had a great time, highly recommend the tour. Next time we come we want to Kayak with Dan at Cedar Key Paddling. Each night the sunsets are incredible, so are the sunrises, although the mornings come a bit early. Tina, it was great meeting you and we appreciate your hospitality. Sadly we leave tomorrow after we take the tour to the lighthouse.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Cedar Key provided us with a week of relaxation. We enjoyed waking up and easing ourselves into the day beginning with a golf cart ride to the park. Over breakfast we would decide from the local eateries where we would have lunch each day. Loved them all especially Kona Joe's meatloaf sandwich, Seabreeze fried clams and Tony's shrimp sandwich. We leisurely strolled through the little shops and enjoyed chit-chatting with the shop owners. Loved the Artist Co-Op especially. The one day we did a Tide Water boat tour and another day took in the Cedar Key Historical Museum. We would finish off the evening with another cart ride and an ice cream from the store. Both my husband and I along with our two Chi's found the cottage just like being in our own home. I found the kitchen very well equipped where Dennis claimed the recliner as his. Very cozy and comfy even when our adult daughter joined us for a few days. The golf cart made getting around Cedar Key easy and fun. As we were leaving Cedar Key, we were already talking plans for a return vacation. Tina, Thank You!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We so enjoyed our trip to West Florida's most unspoiled town. This location and rental are perfect for a family with kids, dogs, etc. The island is quaint, natural, and filled with friendly folks that are helpful and extremely informative about their wealth of history. The public marina is a great place to fish for catfish, toadfish, mullet, etc. The shops on B street are filled with artisan craft to capture local flair. The Island Bar and Annie's are perfect places to sample the local food. Don't miss a trip with Tidewater Boat Tours to learn about the foundation of this place, bird watching, and local culture. There are a few trails, but we ran out of time on this trip. This is a small town but still held our interest for 2 days. Accommodations are clean, neat, quiet, and stocked with everything you need to cook and entertain. GOLF CART sold us; and is the perfect way to get around the island. A must see for local florida folks!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Thank you Tina for being so accomodating to our needs espec when the AC decided not to work on our first night!! We had a great memorial day weekend stay and will definitely be back to stay again,, the golf cart was the best part, not having to drive around the Island made it more enjoyable and relaxing...Thanks again for sharing your cozy cottage w. the rest of the world!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for being so understanding with the A/C problem. Fortunately, it was able to be fixed fairly quickly and you were able to enjoy your visit. Please come back again. Tina

About the owner: After 35 years in southeast Florida, finally being able to move permanently to Cedar Key was a big change. I thought it might be hard to adjust to this small town atmosphere, but that hasn't been the case. With the natural beauty of Cedar Key and the abundant wildlife, there is always something to keep me entertained.
Why the Owner Chose Cedar Key:
I found Cedar Key while traveling along the west coast and saw a sign 'discover the islands of the Nature Coast.' I spent the day enjoying this quaint little town and kept coming back. When I saw the cottage for sale, I fell in love with it and decided to buy it for my Mom. Since I live 4 blocks away, I thought this would be a perfect arrangement. I furnished it and gave it a personal touch. Unfortunately, Mom was never able to move in. So, I'm offering it for rent to other people so they can visit Cedar Key and enjoy it as much as I do.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The Sunflower Cottage (formerly called the E Street Cottage) is a quaint and well-equipped cottage located in the heart of Cedar Key. It's 2 blocks from the grocery store, 2 blocks from the most beautiful sunsets you'll ever see and only a short golf cart ride from the main shopping district. The only vacation cottage in Cedar Key that offers a golf cart for you to get around town during your visit. A golf cart alone would cost you $52-$72 per day so my rate of $115 per night is a great bargin.
