Garden View - Steps to College Street's Little Italy
Year Purchased: 2008
Why the Owner Chose Toronto
We've lived in this Toronto west end neighbourhood for several years. Follow College St. east or head down Ossington Ave and maybe end up at Queen St. West a few blocks south. All of these local areas are well known for some of the best restaurants, art galleries and nightlife in Toronto.
With transit only a few steps from the property, it is a convenient commute to University of Toronto or the downtown business core.

Two of us stayed 3 nights in early October. The unit was as nice or even nicer than the photos suggest. It was amazingly quiet, and the queen-sized bed was very comfortable. It was also spotless. Having access to a washer and dryer was a plus. The kitchen was fully equipped, and it was nice to be able to fix breakfast each morning. The neighborhood, while not immediately adjacent to a subway station, did have streetcar and bus service very close by, along with several restaurants, markets, and nice shops. I would definitely recommend the Garden View to friends and relatives.

My wife and I just spent a week at Dave and Jen's lovely apartment. It was spacious, light-filled, tastefully decorated and well-outfitted. It is very well located, just around the corner from the College St streetcar and an 8 minute walk to the Bloor St subway line. We bought weekly transit passes and got everywhere on them--you really don't need a car (or want one given the downtown traffic). The immediate neighborhood has many shops and restaurants, may favorite being a little Portugese bakery just east of Ossington, where you can buy 2 days worth of breakfast pastries for 2 for $3. Dave and Jen live just upstairs and are fine hosts, always available to answer questions or make recommendations. When we asked to stay a few hours extra because our flight home wasn't until late afternoon, there was no problem. We would definitely stay here again. Dont miss: Blue Bay Cafe (Dundas, near Bloor) -- Mauritrian food. Perhaps the most unique restaurant in town. Bata Shoe Museum -- interesting lens for history, ethnography, etc. Roof Lounge at the Hyatt -- drinks are very expensive, but tapas are not. Totally worth it for the unobstructed views of Parliament and downtown. Honest Ed's -- a bargain-filled, kitchy institution. Pick up a bust of Elvis for a song.

My husband, 3 year-old son and I stayed at this property in early August. It is everything it says in the review: central, well-appointed, immaculate. It's perfect for a small family in that we had all of the conveniences we needed right at our fingertips, without the hassle of being cramped into one hotel room, and all for way less than a hotel anywhere in the city! Jen and Dave are excellent hosts. We had an issue with the child's cot one night and even though I had jerry-rigged a solution, they brought us a new air mattress within an hour of me calling. I would highly recommend this apartment and will definitely be booking here for our next trip to Toronto.

My husband and I stayed in this apartment in July, 2011 for a week. We found it to be excellent in many aspects. The apartment itself is nicely decorated, a great size, very comfortable and well supplied. It was great to come back to a place that felt like 'home' at the end of every day. There is a deck in the back yard and we took advantage of a couple of cooler evenings to sit on the deck with a glass of wine or our coffee in the morning. We were pleased to find that it has air conditioning too. The location is fantastic - less than 1/2 a block to College Street, which make it close to LOTS of great restaurants and shops. There is a Starbucks across the street, but so many other great places for cappucino, lunches, dinners etc. close by as well. (Try the Black Skirt for a fantastic Italian dinner) The grocery store is a short 10 minute walk or a 1 minute bus ride up College. We were surprised at how quiet the home and area are seeing as it is so close to everything. We got ourselves a week long transit pass and found that we were only minutes from so many places and could connect to the subway very easily. The combination of location and the character of both the neighborhood and the apartment, makes this a fantastic choice when visiting Toronto. We know we will go back and recommend it to our friends. *the only suggestion I have would be to change the couch for a hide-a-bed so that the apartment could accomodate more people (a family with 1 or 2 children or 2 couples.)

We stayed here for the entire month of February, 2011. Everything was perfect, the suite is very classy, nicely furnished, and provides everything you need. The fireplace was great, to sit and have a glass of wine before bed. The WIFI worked very well and the TV has many channels. Jenn & Dave are wonderful people, they are there when you need them, but never intrude on your privacy. We will definitely stay here again!

We stayed at this apartment in May 2010 and it was an excellent find. Three stops from the main central district, walking distance to many lovely cafes and restaurants and the interior was excellent. It’s actually bigger in real life! We had everything we needed and with the laundry room downstairs made for a very comfortable vacation. We have a young son and there was a great park close by also some great grocery stores. I would definitely recommend this to others thinking about a central location in a beautiful neighbourhood.
